I think it's become so popular because it's a browser game almost, free, and just has 1 objective which it makes so simple it's not even worth to look at. I think people go crazy over it because of how basic it is too, like they've never seen anything like it before! Honestly, if people weren't so lazy sometimes and played Amnesia: The Dark Descent, they'd have 8 heart attacks in 12 seconds flat.

yes i can see that, but people at my school act like it's the scariest thing in the world. and their minds isn't capable of thinking that far either. they can't think of it in that way. they only go for play-value.(?)

(it's kinda embarrassing to say this, but i don't actually see how amnesia is scary either.)

I found the minimalistic approach really creepy. The fact there is no backs story and it just kind of drops you right into it with no idea what your up against was pretty awesome. Is it over-hyped? Yes. Is it still a pretty cool freeware game? Most definitely.

Yeah they talk about it too in my school.I don't get the idea .It isn't scary,its just creepy.When i get scared in the game i don't scream,i just say "Oh Ship!" and run from Slender Man.

I really hate that game. It's total crap. It looks like crap, it plays like crap, and the jumpscares, get this, are CRAP.

 

If you want a real indie horror game, go download the SCP games. They'll scare the bajeezus outta you.

that game is trash it only works on cheap scares and it cant even do that right also human beings don't pick up static unless the idea was you character is carrying a video camera and if that the case..... Night Vision.

 

also the game is way to easy don't turn the flash light on for to long don't sprint, slander is tracking you not chasing the only time he ever got me was when i first played and didn't know what i was doing and when he just pops up when i go around a corner

I know it's over rated, my friend said nothing about the game all he did was say collect 8 pages, I collected 7 and right when I turned around Slenderman scared the shit out of me. Probably because I had no idea what it was back then.

Anyways this game isn't all that good, I have no idea why it's so popular. I heard amnesia was scarier though. So I'm gonna try that.

I totally agree with you. The game isn't even funny. It was pretty fun the first time, but after that it's just boring and it have never been scary at all.

I believe the reason people still flip out over it, is because they find it funny to. It was fun the first time I played, but only the first time. I also blame it on Pewdiepie and Tobuscus for making videos where they flip out over it. That's just me though.

Its a darned shame no one knew about Slenderman before this scummy game. People needed a scary game, and found slender, pretty simple. But I agree, its pretty silly how much hype this game has gotten.

 

I did. Thanks to Little Kuriboh, I've had many a sleepless nights thanks to Slendy.

But yeah, Slender isn't scary at all. I've beaten it.

I think the main driving force behind the game is really only the Slender man Mythos which has developed and sprung up so well within the internet community. I can see the game being considered scary if you have a deep rooted fear of slender man from other stories/pictures and some of the videos-which are genuinely good and scary although they rape my ears too much-if you haven't heard of slender man, haven't really gotten into the idea and have some sense of hardiness against jump scares then I have to agree. It doesn't hold up.

 

But hey, its a bone for the slender fans to chew on. Plus, we need more horror games. Yes, its uses jump scares but at least it not another action packed tank solder zombie spamming game -COUGH-FEAR-COUGH-that just slabs horror on the label of its genre because it got a dude that speaks in generic hammy moans and has blood on his head or bruised broken knee or ghostly school girl that looks like something from the ring-nor and adult version of said school girl-
