Becuase almost everyone LOVES Wow, and probably someone will start arguing with me because of the graphics and stuff.

 

 

Well yeah, we do, but that's not a reason to hate someone for not being as infatuated as we are.

 

Plus the graphics definitely aren't up to the standards of most modern games in terms of fidelity, no one can argue that. But A ) they hold up for other reasons. I mean just watch Gears of War 2 cutscenes and even they look dated by today's standards whereas WoW's cartoony and stylized aesthetic means you can't bring it up in comparing it to real life as readily meaning it can get away with presentation errors in the same way that it's getting away from other breaks in reality.

 

Even if the textures aren't realistic, the design of the world more than makes up for it.

 

B ) I'm no classic gamer who can get uber invested in the 8-bit games but surely your graphics standards can't be so high that WoW is a grievous violation can it? It came out in 2004, it was a contemporary to Half-Life 2 and Tony Hawk Pro skater 2, just think of how much the landscape and technology of the game industry has changed since then.

 

I mean take a look at the character model updates they did a few years ago, the difference is staggering.

@@Cloby604, Define "everyone". Everyone here? Or the gaming community as a whole. WoW's popular, but in the grand scope of things, it can't hold a candle to the popularity of the likes of GTA, Mario, Zelda, CoD, etc.

And you can't criticize the graphics, as I said, the game is well over 11 years old. It's impossible to replace the game engine without reworking the game from the ground up, and that would take a good 5 years or more.

Well, I've got 11 Alliance characters on Wyrmrest. If anyone knows a popular MLP guild there, let me know (because we all know Guild Finder is absolutely HORRID). 

 

Well thing is Wyrmrest is an RP realm. So most of the guilds are meant to be in-universe organizations or groups or at least that the affiliates are existing and living in Azeroth. Having a dedicated brony guild is more something you'd find on a PvE realm that isn't quite as rooted in keeping the world alive and consistent.

 

 

Define "everyone". Everyone here? Or the gaming community as a whole. WoW's popular, but in the grand scope of things, it can't hold a candle to the popularity of the likes of GTA, Mario, Zelda, CoD, etc.

 

Which baffles me for at least some of those aforementioned titles but then again I'm looking for a great story or vast and complex world.

Well you can't criticize, but at the same time one doesn't have to like it. For instance I have no interest in playing Fallout 1 or 2 precisely because even 3's deer in the headlights, stock still, dialogue at least isn't as janky and unnatural as the previous two's chessboard looking down and characters talking like un-emotive muppets.

 

I can't blame those games because that was all they could do at the time, but it's equally unfair to demand I accept that and enjoy the rest. It's one thing to admit it could be a hurdle and encourage the player to work past it it's entirely another thing to tell them you can't have something admittedly personal against it being a product of the technology available.

Oh in full agreement, I'm merely speaking on behalf of @@Cloby604,'s perspective. That we should attempt to be as welcoming to a more hesitant player. Outline the limits of their reasons for being hesitant by all means, but we shouldn't confirm their plea of "please don't hate me" with blunt rebuke.

While there are many RP guilds on the server, there are many folks who either do it occasionally or not at all. At this juncture, I'm looking for any guild anywhere with a large and stable population, though preferably on Wyrmrest. I have resided here for several years and would not enjoy the prospect of departing.

 

At this point, I am simply trying to see my options.

Overall,  I am enjoying the questing, but I still need to see the endgame before I make any judgments against the overall xpac.

Overall,  I am enjoying the questing, but I still need to see the endgame before I make any judgments against the overall xpac.

 

I am adoring the expac thus far. The class specific content has completely blown me away. As one who's favorite feature in WoW has always been the different classes and their unique lore. I feel like being a monk or Paladin or Druid rather than anything else actually means something again!

You're a woman after my own heart, Akari. You're going to love the Shaman/Rogue/and Hunter halls.

Yeah screw the numbers as long as I'm still effective, I want to look like how my character would look.

Kinda the reason why I may or may not be going all "Hunter weapon!" at all of the gear that says,"You don't have this appearance".

A lot of people are going back to the game since Legion came out, could anyone explain? 

 

I could explain in great and exhaustive detail if further elaboration is desired, but for now I will simply say . . . Legion is really that good.

Okay well first of all let me state that someone else should give you the end-game content, PVP improvements, dungeons, and other such features. Such mechanical benefits to play don't and have never concerned me with WoW. No what I can sing the praises of is the story content.

 

From the very beginning Legion hooks you with probably the best opening to an expac ever. The Broken Shore is a harrowing experience where major lore characters meet their ends and the sheer threat of the renewed Burning Legion is made apparent. When you wind up back at your city you feel devastated, unlike WoD where the first action you take is humiliating the Iron Horde, Legion begins with showing you this is NOT going to be an easy fight or even a winnable one.

 

What follows is a quest chain through areas old and new as Khadgar and you discover revelations about Azeroth itself, the Titans, and how to beat back the Burning Legion. After THAT do you actually go to the Broken Isles, the new zone where the majority of the action takes place.

 

And then . . . that's just when it starts getting good!  B)

 

By far my favorite feature is the refocus on class content and it begins when you arrive at Dalaran's new location. Oh my god I want that game so much... I'm gonna buy it like for SURE after I get overwatch going.

Other than what steel accord said, the leveling is some of the best. Each zone scales with your level. Every zone is also a visual treat. The end game has been improved as well. The daily quests have been forgone in favor of world quests. A massive improvement and one I welcomed. Rep grinds are much better, too, emissaries are what you do for it. Raids open tomorrow, and the first content patch is coming, and already promising, with a revamped Mythic Karazhan, 5 man dungeon. Overall a great step in the right direction after Warlords.

Considering how good the leveling seems, the game should be very enjoyable considering leveling the char is actually really enjoyable for me even in the older versions, considering that it's eve nbetter than that I can't imagine how good it would be ;D

     Started my adventurers in Azeroth & beyond back in Burning Crusade expansion when my sis & her hubby introduced me to it. My first & fondest memory was of seeing the Hallow's End (Halloween) decorations in the local taurens' tribal inn. The clash of homey, earthy decor and showy, pseudo-frightening Halloween cliche decor instilled into me what I had & always will love about that world. That sort of personality, life & wealth of untold stories woven in from the haunted castle halls of Gothic Karazhan to the sunny, happy, wild plains of Mulgore. The graphics are so tear-wrenchingly beautiful to me and some of the best depictions of dragons I've yet seen; how many times i've spent just sitting in the sun-dappled but cursed forest of Silverpine talking to a friend across the world. Azeroth will always be a part of me, and that's why it hurts so much that I've given it up.

 

     Maybe i've become jaded & inured to it, but I feel like they've killed off that story they pulled me in with. These days the game seems more focused on being "New" rather than keeping an emotional investment. Orcs suddenly appear so we attack them dead. We chase them back, but boy howdy we trapped in time now for some reason! But it's okay, there's tons of inconsequential pets and replaceable armor upgrades! It's expected for you to rush to level cap, then spend hours getting constantly rewarded with things that'll only be replaced in a week or so. Sure, it's cool i'm riding some great big honking dragon at will, but when that was just mailed to me by some npc I barely know after spending huge chunks of time with four other people I barely know who were far outpacing any help i'm adding and barely even noticing my presence, I kind of feel it's not warranted...

  I don't want to spend every weekend with forty people I don't know & some guy named Bob telling what to do!

 

 Sigh, what happened to the days of exploration? When you could stumble on some mysterious skelatons in the mountains & sit in trade channel theorizing over lost species? When you needed a belt buckle for some magic belt that'd give you some cool new ability, but you had to make friends with someone else first & learn to help each other out along the way? Why must every expansion, every new land and experience have to result in mass genocide and the land itself coming alive to claw dramatically at you? Why must we Craft All The War?

 

Still, hear they're bringing Karazhan back. Though that'll likely wind up with us just tromping in there and slapping around Mr.Face of the Franchise around for yet more "New" gear & toys. 

 

Oh, and if your wondering. Three full servers of characters & alts (Was such a mistake starting on a PVP server...STV...*shudder*)so a total of maybe thirty or so. My three major mains being a level 100 Forsaken warlock, human death knight & a troll hunter turned dwarf.


   Beatings & Salivations Everybeing!   Creativity is something blatantly important to me as is no doubt evidenced by the 28 OCs I have posted here of the some forty plus I have, they're linked altogether at the bottom of my About Me page in my Profile & I would deeply cherish anything you wish to say about them! Among which of those I am proudest most of is my Draconequusona, His/My Ask Thread  and my Hydra, Gallimaufry or "Mauf" and their own Ask Thread!  Either way, sufficed to say, I am quite confident I have more OCs than you! Crazier to! Do You have a tatzelpony?! No, I rather think you don't! Hew-Hew-hew!

My three major mains being a level 100 Forsaken warlock, human death knight & a troll hunter turned dwarf.

 

In terms of stories to tell, my two mains are a human rogue and a Horde pandaren shaman, both with their own stories and both sharing a history with one another (it's not pretty).  In terms of levels though, my two mains are a rogue and a hunter, both blood elves and both level 100.  They also have their stories, but I'm focusing on my human rogue and shaman.
