I just recently started playing this game a couple of days ago. I haven't made a gameloft ID yet since I have only played it offline. I find it difficult to collect a lot of bits, gems and hearts to unlock the other ponies but I just have to be patient. I would love to have my favorite ponies on the game but I haven't tried the balloon popping game yet since I don't have enough gems

Money is easy to get, but as for gem matters, well you need defeat parasprites and changelings for that and as well as collecting your daily bonuses. It might be best if you make a gameloft live ID so we can gift you hearts. Hearts are easy to get if you have a lot of friends.

you shouldn't be doing that unless it's needed and if the decor is cost more gems to skip the quest. It will take every 5 days to get 3 gems which is 1 gem from day 4 and 2 gems from day 5 and you can also get more gems from parasprites, changelings, and finding derpy to make up enough gems. Some of the quests cannot be skipped so you have to save enough gems for the mane6. There's also a possibility that you can win other ponies by completing the equestria girls dance mini-game challenge before every fridays at 11AM PST, but The ponies you win will be random and altnerately change in-between canterlot and ponyville ponies.

 

For those of you guys that wants to add me, go ahead and be my guest. My Gameloft Live ID is the same name as here, "KirbyFluttershy". I'm Pretty much recognizable and I have 2-3 other Friends that have me in their Friend List. Well That one is important if you want more hearts or wanted us to send you chests. Some of the quests that requires to open chests are easy to clear If you have a lot of Friends. I wouldn't just use gems to skip certain quests. Some Quests can't be skipped so you're gonna have to finish them manually instead of skipping them. I cleared most of the quests without skipping, but there's an exception that if the decors cost more than the gem cost for skipping, I just go with that because I'm saving gems for Town Hall while I still wait for the Equestria Girls dance mini-game to go to soarin so I don't have to pay that amount of Gems to buy him.

 

I did say "Go ahead and be my guest". I just have over 100 Friends and a lot are inactive or Stopped playing the app for their own reasons.

It's very easy to get the hang of the game, but It will get boring fast If you bought everything and level grind all the way to level 70 and not to mention that you have to play every day to get 3 gems (1 from day 4 and 2 from day 5). As for the mini-games, The Ball is easy to do, but you'll get higher points if the white circle is close to the ball as you swipe the ball to the pony and it'll get faster as well. The apple bucking mini-game is quite easy, Just keep moving left and right so you won't miss a few apples. For observatory stars mini-game, It's like Connect the Dots (but mostly it's like Kirby Canvas Curse). If you connect the stars fast, you'll consume less time and scoring higher also any mistakes will reset the connection. Now as for Equestria Girls danice mini-game, It can be easy, but I think the yellow parts are the hardest if you don't have speedy fingers (or button mashing) skills. The time on the songs are varies so for the opening theme is 3hr wait, Strange World is 8hr wait, EG stomp and Cafeteria songs are 24hr wait, and Time to come together is 12hr wait. If you have a lot of money for the mini-games, you can double the exp from the mini-games to earn stars and Higher score in Equestria Girls Dance mini-game.

I just recently got a new tablet and really didn't want to start over yet again (already went through it a few times when I went from a Nexus 7 2012 to 2013 and a Note 2 to 3). Did a bunch of digging and found an app that was able to backup the game from my Note 3 and then install it to my tablet. I thought it failed because it said there was an error, but when I started up the game, it downloaded some data and then proceeded to my town from my Note 3. Neither Note 3 or tablet are rooted.

 

App is called Helium. Free version works fine. If people want details on how to do so, I can post them up. I don't know if this has been mentioned before or not, but I've never been able to figure out how to do this without root until tonight. If it has been, then I apologize.

This is extremely useful as it means should they ever manage to get my Asus T100 running Android natively I can migrate the game over to there for proper multi-touch, or move my more progressed game save from the PC to my Note 3.

 

Just out of curiosity, did it not recover your game data anyway from Google?  I was under the impression that Android 2.3 was supposed to finally backup your app data to Google (which is presumably how this app works too, Android 2.3 has support for this).

2. I would like to know if there is any way to speed up my iPod or not make the game lag, because several times when I was doing the dancing game, it would lag terribly and then I would get the whole "You Rock" message at the end when there is still notes coming.

Well I've restored this game plenty of times by letting the Play store do it's thing after resetting a device, and every time I've had to restart with a fresh town. The way Gameloft has this game save is stupid, it doesn't save to the cloud. Instead from what I've gathered, it just saves to the device and you normally need root to use something like Titanium Backup to perform a complete enough backup to include the save and make it so it'll work on other devices. Otherwise all that gets restored is the game itself, which is how the "backup" to the Play store works. It's gotta be the worse thing about Gameloft's business model with this game, and several others of theirs.

 

I got this idea from Gameloft's forums actually. A mod there told someone to use Helium to backup one of their other games that doesn't store the save in the cloud, so I figured why not give it a try with MLP. I actually ended up buying the premium version, and going in circles trying different backup methods to get a restore that said complete instead of error. I finally gave up and that's when I discovered it actually worked even after saying error.

 

Really wish I had discovered this a long time ago, had a mostly complete town pre-canterlot on my Nexus 7 2012. Oh well I guess, but my many losses are a gain for everyone else with this discovery. Would be nice if Gameloft would just make their games store the save in the cloud and allow it to be played on multiple devices.

Even more puzzling is why this functionality is not built-in to Android in the first place.  There should be no need for app developers to choose to support a cloud syncing API, the end user should be able to choose to backup ALL their app settings by default WITHOUT the app needing to know about it.

 

You can't even say its about security, as Google already sync all your WiFi security settings in the cloud - including your business WiFi that potentially is risky if those credentials fell into the wrong hands.

 

That said, I would much prefer to be able to backup over WiFi to my own private server and keep Google out of it.  Its far less likely someone will bother to hack into my server than a big evil corporations server with millions of peoples details to harvest.

You've got me, that's been my biggest complaint since switching to Android a few years back. Only thing that made it not an issue with iOS was that you could transfer stuff to your computer with itunes and then backup from there.

Yes, if you "transfer purchases" before you wipe the device. Although I honestly can't say if doing that backs up this apps save file. I never bothered to find out before I sold my 4s. I'm pretty sure it does though from stuff I've read.

Something recommended here, I've tried just copying the folder/files and it just starts a new game. So that info is obviously incorrect, unless I somehow screwed up copy/pasting.

Now, I'm not sure how best to proceed: should I wait till I activated all the Harmony Stones before I start Canterlot? I'm afraid I'll not get enough shards because of the changelings. Should I start with Canterlot because the additional gain in shards compensates?

You can get more shards easily in both canterlot and ponyville shops. You just need to get enough bits and gems to get all of the shops in canterlot. You can still activate the Elements of Harmony Stones as long as you have enough however the hardest shards to get is magic so you wanna get all of the shops in canterlot for more magic shards and I may suggest getting a Ponyville Hospital and Town hall for more.

Keep in mind that the shards will only compensate if you have the bits/gems to purchase the Canterlot shops (as well as ponies to work them) and thus be able get these shards.  Then again, if you can get the Canterlot shops they are some of the best sources of magic shards.  There's always the option of just ignoring the changelings and letting them accumulate until you've activated the harmony stones, which is sort of what I did.

I've managed to save enough of those gems to play in the Flim and Flam ballon pop game but I am rarely about how difficult it will be? I want to win Trixie and Daring Do but I am worried about how difficult it will be.

You can win ponies like that, but usually I'm saving up for the town hall. Thanks to equestria Girls dance mini-game, It's easy enough for us to win gem-based ponies except princess celestia and balloon pop ponies also winning ponies depends on your luck. I only won Flashy Pony, and Dr. hooves from the gem balloon pop game so far.
