Counterattack to Beat Shock - Rarity on the red Carpet

Motion Spark

Recommended Posts

I didn't get very good feedback on my last human Rarity drawing, and that made me feel disappointed, but I've come to the conclusion that I LOVE my human Rarity because she looks HUMAN to me and not a cartoon. So I'm going to hurt your eyes again with my human Rarity and attack Beat Shock and his drawing of Rarity in a "sparkly" dress, with THIS dress which is very fashionable.

she made the dress herself and she's attending a fashion event, so she's posing for the cameras on the red carpet.

meh I'm not that big a fan of that hairstyle for humanized Rarity (but that's just me ). other then that its well drawn I only find the feet and nose to be a little off.

and now as a Rarity fan.... show the lady some respect and give her a dress worthy of her. :P

get used to it, I love her mohawk ...I have to disagree, I made her shoes bigger on purpose, it's a style, it may look weird to you but is not off. Maybe very sketchy, but I can't help that.

her dress is worthy of her. I am the biggest fan of Rarity and the last thing I would like to do is to disrespect her, but I'm sorry I see her like this as a human.

I can't please everyone, I have to accept that but I don't care anymore...some like my art some don't, this is the way it is. Anyways, the style that I like, that is kind of similar of the concept that you showed me, it could be something like this. I enjoyed this drawing very much.

Ohh noo... Not this again! ;D

it looks good i guess. But her face is leaning right while her forehead is streight. And its awkwardly big.

Truth is. I have never seen a humonised pony drawing that i like :-X

You did a good job on the hair though.

yes, it is again, and I had a great time drawing her :)

if I call this thread, look at this unknown girl with purple hair that I just drew, would you like it?

OMG! you are right, maybe it was because I was drawing at 3:50AM? haha, damn, she looks like she may have a huge forehead, well the hair is covering half of it so it's good :)

You made me out to look like a man, a MAN. I am a LADY...and I wish to be drawn as such.

(basically her body looks alright but her face is just very manly.)

the face is not manly by any means, the problem it's that is kinda realistic and not cartoony, it's still a cartoon but in a more realistic way

I think it's her forehead, as Vicke mentioned earlier. Basically, I would go so far as to say that her heightened forehead is the cause for the manly essence which I feel when I look at her.

her head looks off. really, really off.

look at the direction the rest of the body is pointing at. now look at her head. it's like she has twisted her neck in a very awkward and hurtful way. in other words, her head is facing at the diagonal lower-left corner, whereas the rest of her body is facing diagonally to the upper-left corner.

i don't get the patch of black... hair? on her head, as well. clashes a lot with the rest of her purple mane hair.

and as people have pointed out, it looks too big and masculine for a female's head.

other than that, yes she looks a hell of a lot more realistic than most ponies in human form i have seen. it reminds me of the gritty, western comic-book style, like Marvel and DC Comics. i can see her starring a good role as a business woman in 'insert default comic book here'.

good job overall. only that her head is disproportioned to the rest of her body. the rest is excellent.

OK OK! I get the forehead thing, fine! but the angle of the head? she looks perfect to me! she's not tilting her head in any kind of painful position (maybe a little XD)... and it's not because I'm butthurt but her neck is perfect. "the patch of black hair" is not black, is dark purple, don't you see that her roots are darker in the section in where her hair is shorter? that's why.

and she doesn't look masculine to me at all. I dunno.

geez you guys know how to make an artist feel like a piece of crap :(

hey, i said you did a good job overall, which you did, honestly! she looks like she'd be a character for a Marvel or DC Comics comic-book. i rather like that kind of artstyle, and i like how your drawing reminds me of that.

just that the head stood out to me in terms of quality and position compared to the rest of her body. i guess it's because of how much she tilts her head that way, it looks more like her head is FIXED in that position, rather than tilted that way. i don't know how to explain it any further.

i do now see that her roots are dark purple. my monitor must have been too dark to spot that. my bad.

if you don't want to change how her head looks like, then that's fine! after all, you're the artist here, and it's your call whether you want to keep something this or that way. i'm just giving my honest opinion on this particular piece, as it caught my attention and i know you are a good visual artist, so i want to see what you have done with it and give my input on it. feedback is appreciated, right?

also, one last thing: you should expect that, on a forum which is about a show filled with colourful, cartoony ponies are going to get a mixed reaction out of a realistically, western comic-book style drawn Rarity from said show. that does NOT mean your artwork is bad in any way (sans from the head, but that's IMO), just that the target-audience here is the wrong for what you have drawn here; because they will expect cartoony, fluffy, marshmallow ponies, not realistic, gritty, dark-ish looking humans.

Motion Sparky, Why you make us feel bad for just giving criticism? :(

were just pointing out that it looks off the head looks like its turned too far, like the chin is just past the shoulder blade ( just trying to turn it that far is hurting my neck) perhaps you could try a different approach or pose, hell just look though some model magazines or websites use a pose from there as reference.

the way her neck is fixated seems fine to me :x

it is appreciated but that doesn't mean that I have to agree with all :/

I was naive, I've seen countless of times drawings of "human" ponies on this forums, and all the feedback was very possitive "oh! it's so cute", "it looks awsome", and blah blah blah! and to be honest I've never seen something that REALLY impressed me in terms of human ponies, the best I've seen so far is Hana's artworks if I recall correctly, but I don't want to say it but I've seen shit that was praised as good, awesome cute.

Then when I want to give it a try to human ponies, everyone comes against me because they are not used to see a more realistic type of drawing, and how come they dare to call that human if it doesn't even have normal sized eyes? that piss me off.

I'll say my bad here, perhaps you are right, I admit that I didn't use any kind of reference. I agree with the forehead though, it's really wide. maybe her chin can be a little bit more soft, but to me it looks fine.

I don't know if you have seen celebrities on the red carpet but woman likes to show some back and booty and look back at the camera, maybe it is the point of view of the camera, but I'm confusing myself again.

yeah i understand the pose you were going for, but in that case you could have done with working the body more.

when a woman does that pose they turn at the hips (or there whole body) slightly, like there checking themselves out in a mirror.

now you almost got the pose right but the body just needed to be turned abit more. just practice with a reference first tho.... or practice the pose in the mirror yourself and then apply it for Rarity

don't say stuff like that.. >:(

now you have two choice

Human Rarity or Whirlwind, i recommend you pick the Human Rarity because i do see potential, you just need the right reference for a good pose maybe give Rarity some sparkle (by that i mean diamonds not over done sparkling like with Beat shock drawing )

As somebody who thinks that human ponies are neat, I'm going to try and give you a little bit of helpful crit that I don't think was covered :)

Careful about your proportions: Her head seems a bit large for her body - the human body is eight 'heads' tall, and I'm only counting about 5 and a half. Also, keep in mind width as well as height - you want to be able to fit a head on each shoulder, and the hips are going to be about as broad as the shoulders. Also, hands and feet are going to be nearly the same size - Rarity's hands are pretty tiny compared to her feet in this. Other than a couple other small things, you seem to be pretty good.... though I'd put her eyes just a smidgeon closer together (the eye on our right, in particular - the corner of the mouth should line up with the middle of the eye). Although I'm not a fan of the style (personal aesthetic, not a criticism) I do love how you did the hair.

And dahling, with a neckline that low you simply must put something on the neck, and her shoes don't go with the dress.

Edit: Spelling :P

I really liked the criticism :)

but this artwork was more of a quick thing I made in an hour or so at almost 4AM, I agree the head is really big, maybe I didn't notice because I was sleepy XD, however I like how the shoes are, I know they are a little bit big and not humanistic but I really liked how do they look.

about the colors of the shoes, I thought they were a good color XD...but I'm a guy what can I know XD

I think you did a terrific job,

like Viscra said just because people can't appreciate your art style doesn't make it bad.

What most of the commenters don't realize is they are a little too attached to a certain image.

Humans are MUCH harder to draw than ponies.

I'd love to see more humanized ponies from you :)

I think the female form is a beautiful thing.
