Kids who don't like MLP

I was hanging out and having coffee with some friends when we wandered into the subject of MLP. One of the guys mentioned (I think it was his niece or something) getting an MLP figurine. Apparently this little girl doesn't like ponies, because according to this anecdote she RIPPED THE PONY'S HEAD OFF (OMG TRAUMA!), earning her a scolding from her mother.

D: It was a white pony with long purple hair...

Me: Did it have diamonds on it's flank?

D: Did it whatta what?

Me: Diamonds! Did it have diamonds on it's bum?

D: Oh, yeah.

Me: Rarity.

D: Well, it's definitely a rarity now!

Me: No, Rarity is the name of the pony.

D: Ohhh.

Me: That little girl has issues. Now I'm imagining Spike screaming "NOOOOOO!"

Guys: (laughter)

(I'm working on bringing these fellows into the herd, but it's a slow process. ;) )

Most anti-pony haters are adults, but what about kids who are somehow immune to the awesomeness and charm of ponies? Has anypony here encountered them?

I was about to ask why you randomly included Derpy Hooves being born on the timeline, but then I saw your name and my question was answered...

Some of my cousins, who are around the age range of 6-12, despise the show for whatever reason (probably due to media bias or whatever) and always make fun of me for getting up early on Saturdays to watch the newest episodes.

At the same time, they watch crap like iCarly and Total Drama Island. Apparently, to one of them, they are cooler shows because they have more "mature" humor and ponies are too girly. Yeah, whatever. Can't really argue with little kids so I just let it be haha.

Can't wait until I move to the dorms next Semester so I can get away from their ignorance lol. >.>

What we should focus on is how to connect with the miniature haters so that they don't continue to grow up to be full sized Anti-Bronies...

Hmm...

Ahh! Here we go!

My cousins on my dad's side hate the show for whatever reason, mainly because they won't accept anything that isn't the social norm. It's irritating, because just because something isn't considered "appropriate" for one's age level doesn't mean it isn't a good show.

At the same time, younger children will be younger children.

Well the only kids I regularly interact with are my nephews, and they're way too young to have any sort of opinion like that, so no. :P

All of my friends are haters. None of them have watched the show voluntarily since they were really little. ONE watches it with her sis when she is VERY bored. I learned this when we passed the language arts door and an answer to the weekly was Twilight Sparkle.

The deal with the door is my language arts teacher decorates her door like a twitter thing- a large question at the top, and a bunch of "comment" slots down the rest of the door. The question that week had been "Who is your favorite protagonist in a fiction piece?". Someone had put Twilight Sparkle, as a joke.

Finland is my favorite. All the other Hetalia characters can go now.

There are people who watch the show but do not participate in forums or anything i call them fans, there are people that watch it and participate in forums and have an extreme love for mlp i call bronies ( us ), there is people that don't like it but aren't haters ( I have no problem with these people ), but then there is the haters in which call us gay and make fun of us but in reality some haters watch mlp but are afraid to admit it so they pretend to hate it. there are 4 types of people

Oh my god... I'm just picturing the conversation now with British accents... The way that he said that it's a "rarity now" just made me laugh crazily. Nice word play, Europe. You don't get awesome people like that in Taiwan. Speaking of living in Taiwan, no, I have not encountered any kid like this. If I had I most likely wouldn't have been able to discuss it. :x

Never met any kids that don't like it. I was actually watching TV with a few little kids (like 3 or 4 actually) and they asked me to turn in MLP when I passed it in the TV guide. I happily did (and was oh so disappointed when the episode that was on was The Mysterious Mare Do Well).

Although that little girl is kinda messed up for pulling the head off a pony...

I will not try to count the haters online, there is usually no telling ages here. But as far as real life I was approached by what appeared to be a middle schooler while I was doing a fire prevention class with my department. I was just in my fire pants, but was wearing my brony shirt. One of the kids asked me "why I was wearing a My Little Pony" and I just said that I loved the new show. He just kinda laughed and told me I was weird.

That's about it... Kids don't mess with me. Never have to worry about em on my lawn. :)

We're Aussies. But yeah, that would sound somewhat funny in a British accent, especially Mancunian (think Daphne from Frasier).

I noticed that some little girls just likes to be violent towards their dolls/action figures but I think it has more to do with imagining violence than hating the object itself, probably like what boys imagine with toy guns and toy grenades.

I've encountered them before. One time, I was hanging out in my room, reading a navigation book. My brother then came barging in and found four pony figurines I got from opening up blind bags on my dresser. He laughed and said,"You collect ponies?! Ponies are for girls! You're such a baby!" Don't ask me why he randomly said that, he's an idiot. Especially since I AM a girl!

Some children think that they are too cool to watch MLP, or just because it's a "little girl's show."

They never seem to understand the beauty that My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic contains in every episode in every season. They never know how large the Brony fanbase is!

(Well, except for the teens on "Teens React")

Well, first of all, how can you rip off Rarity's head without feeling anything of guilt or sadness? That's what I want to ask her.

I think some kids don't like the show because it ruins their 'big-boy big-girl' image. And seeing adults happening to like the show makes them want to laugh at us. However, a little girl ripping the head off of a Rarity figure? Pure evil!! D: Never knew a kid would go that far, anyways. :P To them, MLP is like Dora the Explorer. They think it's a boring, no-plot 6-year-old girl show.

Most antibronies are adults....what

Lol, most Anti-Bronies are kids from 9-16 years old xD

Adults simply disapproved, but they don't spam pony videos saying "DEATH TO THE BRONIES"

*Sigh* I know how you feel people hate something you like yet when you not to fond of they like you keep your mouth shut. I try nt to stress on it cause people should be allowed to watch what they want.

For example most all (I've been exposed to) fandoms have haters Eg.

Anime/Manga (has a boat load of haters but do the fans care, no)

Disney (well the amount of fans out weighs they amount of haters especially since their alot of adult fans)

Reality TV.

Even popular well like movies/series like Harry Potter most likely have their haters.

I think that Bronies (some or most) care to much what people say and need to stop "feeding the trolls and haters"

Also for the haters they need too stop freaking out over what people watch and get a ******** life I bet they have something they wouldn't want to be caught dead watching.

But we all know the haters will never stop so best thing too do is to stop feeding them.

But understand it's annoying how haters come out of no where just to provoke people.

Anyway long story short that explains why my brat of a cousin is missing all her teeth. (lol jk or am I?)

I went a bit off topic but Haters gonna hate

Ahh, well, back when I was a kid, I absolutely hated my little pony, everyone I knew did too, so, I just followed the other kids example, and hated it too. I never gave it a chance. And that's probably why some kids don't like it, just following the example of their friends, or they just don't understand how awesome MLP is :3 but I think kids will just be kids, and hey, you never know, maybe they actually like MLP, but don't want to act like it, you know?
