It came to my attention that we don't have a thread for one of the best musicals ever. The music in this show is just amazing. With such songs as "Music of the Night" and the more rock song "Phantom of the Opera". Honestly Andrew Lloyd Weber is a genius. The singers on the CD are all so talented. The songs show so much emotion, which is why I like it. So, what is your favorite song from the musical? If you did see it live where did you see it?

I honestly haven't ever seen the entire thing, at least not that I can remember. I've heard it is really good, so it's on my list of plays/movies I want to see soon.

I wouldn't call it the best, but it is definetly up there. I've only seen the recentest movie version (the one based off the musical), which was really good. Favorote song is Phantom of the Opera, favorite scene is Masquerade even if it is a filler that has no point.

I've only ever seen the movie (no tickets left in stock ), but I have to say I absolutely adore All I Ask Of You. I've seen both Emmy Rossum and Sarah Brightman's renditions, and I can't compare them. Brightman's echo and Rossum's sweetness make the song feel very alive in their own way.

 

EDIT: Watching them again, although I can't compare Sarah and Emmy, I have to say I prefer Michael Ball's rendition over Patrick Wilson's. I guess I just probably got used to his voice.
