Yeah, this happened back when a few overly-defensive mothers took Derpy's character traits the wrong way, claiming that it was somehow "offensive" to mentally disabled children everywhere. It was quite the opposite though. Derpy was designed to be a very lovable character, and the term "derp" simply meant a comical mistake, and not an offensive slur as the parent's supposed.

Derpy has actually made an appearance in season 3.

Probably the most minor and "where's wally" type appearance of anything ever, so much so that I dont think she even saw herself there.

i think that Derpy's flaws are part of her charm. I like how clumsy she can be and how innocent she comes off, despite her deficiency. In filly form, shes absolutely precious, which is when i started to love her. Besides, if they fix Derpy, then they need to fix Timmy on South Park too, since neither one of them fit the cutout of "normal".

As much as I agree with you, I don't think the fans are that obsessed over Derpy. Sure, it's a sad thing to see her lack of appearance for the amount of love she gets. However, the wound is still too fresh.... to much of a disaster. I don't think that Derpy is gone for good seeing how in France and Italy they kept the name Derpy in the translation. However, they are going to need to let time calm down the situation before they truly bring her back. But they still want the fans to know they care, so they are putting in moments for her such as the Where's Waldo incidents.

Honestly I have no idea.

I've actually tried to spot Derpy since she became the background pony we all started looking for.

I think I finally found her myself in the opening animation in season 2...that was it.
