Since no ones put up a Bleach Discussion thread, I figured why not, it's a good series with a lot of strong background details regardings the series Characters, both from Ichigo's world and Soul Society.

If you haven't seen the series, to sum it up, it's basically about this 15 year old boy who has always had this sixth sense...he can sense those in the spirit world parallel to his own. Along comes a Soul Slayer...a hunter who frees souls that are left on our plain of existence...those souls who remain on this earth, are either wanderers or become Soul Eaters. A Soul slayer hunts these eaters, destroying them once the souls that remain on this earth become tainted. Ichigo learns of this after his family is attacked and Rukia introduces herself while trying to save him. She senses his ability and passes on her powers to aid him, and the rest is history.

LOL I was just watching Bleach, Im in the 2nd season right after Ichigo fights Renji I started watching the series again recently and hopefully, will get past the bount arc this time lol

I have never watched Bleach. SHOCK HORROR. I just haven't found the time and when I do watch anime, it's usually something like One Piece. Does anyone suggest I watch it?

I'd suggest it its my third favorite anime (with Inuyasha and FLCL being my 1st and 2nd favs respectively).  It's pretty good and has a good balance of humor and seriousness I think

Watch the manga, lots more gore and r34 compared to the anime that's been censored for the western viewers.Looks so much more badass with decapitations.

The anime is very very long something like 330 episodes long before it ended, although I believe One Piece is longer.  it also has a lot of filler episodes, sometimes entire arcs are filler.  the manga is a lot better than the anime.  and kubo (bleach's creator)  is a master with words. and a poet.

 

on another note,  did any pony know that warner brothers greenlighted  a bleach live action movie?

Yeah but we are forgetting that it's an action series which can be more appreciated in the anime and the effects are beautiful in this one, like you I don like filler episodes but you can skip them

I know that's what makes it great!    yes and it's one of the better action series out there, i'm a bit picky with what i watch.  so it's hard to get me into something.  but bleach reeled me in and i bit hook line and sinker.  Is anypony keeping up with what's going on recently?

Bleach has been a tubulent series for me. Lots of ups and downs. At times my mind is ready to explode over how awesome something was and at other times I'm thinking "Seriously, Kubo?" He's a brilliant man and Bleach is very clever, but there are times when he obviously inserts a "plot twist" just for the sake of doing so and it feels forced. Hopefully by the time the series ends everything good and bad will come together cohesively. Inconsistency with power levels has been my biggest complaint I think. That and how Ichigo can learn some new, profound thing and be a strong, resolute fighting machine until he's finished with one enemy, then when the next one comes along he's easily agitated and nervous again.

 

The anime was canceled due to declining popularity following some of Kubo's trademark absurdities, especially with the reception the Fullbringer arc got, but now we have a fantastic arc going on in the manga that would be great animated and in color. If the ratings stay high we might see the series get rebooted, and if they wait until the manga ends before bringing back the anime that would mean no more need for filler. Hooray for that. Though I have to admit I enjoyed the arc about the Zanpakutou.

Too bad they inserted elements of that arc into the canon parts of the anime later on. If it wasn't for that I would recommend that people skip the Bount arc.

Okay here we go, I hope to not make this very long because otherwise i'm going to miss the opening of ponies!

 

Kon! lol  that little perverted stuffed animal   I really love him.

 

Rukia -  There is something that always gets to me about Rukia. I think it's cause she has seen so much suffering and yet there was always that part of her that was searching for a way  to find the power to make sure something like Kaien's death would never happen again.  and then she met a certain strawberry. 

 

Gin - At first  I hated him. I always thought he was creepy!  and then we learned the reasons why he became a shinigami and OMFG! 

 

Ukitake -  I love his caring nature, and peaceful nature,  seems like  ever since that aweful day, he doesn't like to fight anymore. I mean he'll do it if he has to.  But  He also became a bit of a 'father' figure for Rukia  which I think was absolutely fantastic.   

 

Byakuya:  Much like gin I despised him at first.  but  then we learned the reasons why he did what he did.  and he actually didn't seem like such a jerk anymore. 

 

Matsumoto - I love her! everything from her fashion loving side and somewhat  ditzy nature she can go from ditzy to serious in a nanosecond.  to  the softer side of her.  the one that always secretly yearns for Gin.  also she is extremely loyal to her captain.

I have seen some of the first series (my ex convinced me it was a good idea). I got to the episode where this random guy with a bow challenges Ichigo to kill things or something. I'll be honest, it wasn't my favourite show although the dad and Kon crack me up! XD

Having never really watched anime like this before I wasn't expecting how weird it was sometimes though. With that big creepy thing that "targets only women" or something like that. I was creeped out.

I kinda stopped watching because Ichigo started getting on my nerves with how serious he was all the time.

I only read the manga because of time constraints, it's further along, and doesn't have stupid filler (well, except the Fullbringer arc. I consider that stupid filler, albeit with a small plot purpose ). I've been keeping up with and discussing it since around chapter 150.

 

spoilers abound:

 

 

Bleach is very hit and miss. It started out pretty slow, but the first major arc (save rukia) was damn good. It stayed pretty good throughout the arrancar and hueco mundo arcs, but really started to decline during the Karakura invasion and we had just under two straight years of non-stop fights with little to no plot advancement -_-

And Kubo would jump around from fight to fight, starting 3 different fights and then either finishing them off-panel, or not coming back to the fight for like a month. It just dragged on way too long. I'm not saying it didn't have it's good parts, they were just largely overshadowed by the mediocre parts that took up so much time.

 

It picked up a bit when the Aizen arc started, which got pretty awesome as it went along.

 

Then we had the Fullbringer arc, which was complete shit. All of the plot relevant stuff could've fit pretty nicely into 10 or so chapters, yet it was nearly 50 (which is basically a year, when you account for breaks in the manga).

 

The current arc started out as crazy awesome fucking badass. Kubo has said that the reason so many characters had miraculously survived despite seeming to be completely dead (despite it being a shonen manga) was because the editors didn't want him killing off any main characters before the manga was ending. But now this is stated to be the storyline, so everybody was hopeful that shit was going to get real and people were going to die in super hardcore battles.  And it seemed like it would be like that for awhile, with tons of nameless characters dying, and several major characters dying (Byakuya, Kenpachi, and Yamamoto), with others being mortally wounded. But now we're finding out they're not actually dead.

 

So while it's still a really badass arc so far, it's not as awesome as it first appeared :/

I'll admit i nearly chocked on my own spittle when i read this   I had to  read it twice to only find out that  some of my favorites aren't actually dead at all.    I agree though Ichi's  entry into soul society to save Rukia was just awesome.    and now cause of that arc i ship those two fiercely lol.  I have have no idea what's going on.  I had a falling out with bleach  as soon as Ichigo went in Hueco Mundo after Inoue I would only read and watch ocassionally after that.

I love Bleach and I watch it a few times a week. I read the manga weekly. I'm a T?shir? Hitsugaya megafan, lol. It is my favorite show/anime of all time and when ponies ask... 'Which anime do you recommend to watch?' Of course my reply's gonna be...BLEACH!
