I have mentioned this I think in two different topics, one being Strange Things You Want to See in MLP. An Apocalypse Now episode/parody would be outstanding, especially for a finale.

 

Of course it would be done in tongue-and-cheek pony style...

 

So far there are three "references" in the series in my opinion. One was the use of Ride of the Valkyrie during the race in May the Best Pet Win (which ended with tank acting as a helicopter thus completing the connection). Another was Lily's classic:

Lastly and most recently, though this reference is not quite direct, I still found it very similar nonetheless:

 

 

 

Aside for my love for the film, I feel the story layout itself is timeless and perfect for our ponies.

there needs to be more military themed MLP crossovers. Saving Private Pony, Black Mare Down, Band of Bronies, Full Metal Saddle, etc.

Oh god, an episode about all of the mane 6 slowly losing their sanity and battle jungle savages. Be very interesting.
