Zygen 6,066 December 8, 2012 Share December 8, 2012 (edited) So I've been thinking about the new episode coming out next week(Wonderbolt academy) And I'm wondering about something. Wasn't it actually mentioned that Rainbow dash was kicked out of Flight camp? So that made me wonder... Do you think that in the upcoming episode they're going to mention why? Or maybe have something similar happen even? If not, i'm still a bit curious as to why exactly. I'd like to know the story, I guess seeing as this is the next Rainbow dash episode its the one I immediately started thinking will have the answers, although its possible it'll have no mentions on the subject. That still leaves me the question as to the story behind why she got kicked out. Well thats my speculations.. What do y'all think about this? If you have any speculations about the next episode, you can talk about those two if you want. Edited December 8, 2012 by Zygen 1 Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! ~Master~ Button Mash 2,308 December 8, 2012 Share December 8, 2012 I have a feeling it might be related to the little stunt she pulled in Cutie Mark Chronicles, and if not that, then maybe her generally loose-cannon nature was the problem. She's a free spirit (part of why she's so awesome ), and I theorize the academy might require a bit more discipline than she could handle. 5 Follow me on Tumblr! http://stratosthestallion.tumblr.com
Discovery Dream 593 December 8, 2012 Share December 8, 2012 Meh, perhaps. It would at least put a rest to all the fanfics, which all somehow seem to end up as either RD abuse, a RD horror fic, or a RD clopfic. So yes, it would be nice to see why she got kicked out. I always thought she just got into too many fights or was a slacker. 3 no rest for the wizardly.
Akemi Homura 7,682 December 8, 2012 Share December 8, 2012 The synopsis points out that Rainbow Dash begins to doubt herself and her ability, so her worst fears of failing to impress the other ponies or even to make the cut could very well be the central plotline here. It's tough embracing the possibility that you could lose it all at one point, especially something in an event as important as Rainbow Dash makes it out to be - joining the Wonderbolts but the fear that she could mess up during her training and thus disallowing her entrance entirely. As I've learned myself though, accepting the possibility that you'll fail is very important in your attempt to actually succeed in whatever you're doing, in contrast to letting your fear get the best of you and ultimately failing the whole thing! You won't be just letting yourself down, but everyone who looked up to you instead of giving it your all. Which I think will be the lesson in this episode.
MorningFlash 214 December 8, 2012 Share December 8, 2012 Rainbow Dash as said previously in a post, is pretty much a free spirit, she doesn't really have any guidelines and timing to follow. It would be nice if it got confirmed how she got kicked out though, I've kind of been wondering since the Sonic Rainboom ep. 2 Credit to Lunia

She's a free spirit (part of why she's so awesome ), and I theorize the academy might require a bit more discipline than she could handle. Thats what I kinda assume happened along the lines. Although I'd always like some confirmation. And I also kinda want to know the specific event that happened that got her kicked out. Oh and I kinda think the Sonic Rainboom didn't have to do with it, it seems like an admirable thing especially when she did it in the young fliers competition, and won because of it. The synopsis points out that Rainbow Dash begins to doubt herself and her ability, so her worst fears of failing to impress the other ponies or even to make the cut could very well be the central plotline here. Well then chances are it probably won't point it out anywhere in the episode. I was just thinking maybe sometime in the episode someone would do one of those, remember when you got kicked outta flight camp things? However the episode probably won't have enough room for it anyways. And on a side note, that is a tough thing to have to make sure you don't accidentally not meet up the expectations for something. duidamasterXD 9,627 December 8, 2012 Share December 8, 2012 I can see her having LOADS of problems with authority and not liking to follow a schedule so those are two reasons why she might get kicked out. To be honest I can't see them addressing it during the episode, they have too much to cover as it is. On another note, I am both excited and nervous out of my mind for this episode. I can think of so many ways that it could go wrong, but if they do it the way that I hope they will it could be one of the best episodes of the series. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping the episode is written by M.A Larson.

Nas 2,874 December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 (edited) Meh, who knows. While she initially got kicked out of flight camp for her laziness, I think the reason why she might not make it (in saying that I think she won't make it in the first place) this time is because she probably would've eventually started living the life of a celebrity, and would have spent a lot less time with her friends, thus getting less connected with them; which is probably something Dash would not like. Or maybe if it's only one can qualify, then I'm assuming the one who makes it is this new teal Pegasus pony who is assumably the rival of Dash in the episode. Either way, it'll be a good lesson learned. I personally do not want Dash to join the Wonderbolts if it means she won't learn that friends exceed fame and fortune. ~Master~ Button Mash 2,308 December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 (edited) IMO all signs point to no with Rainbow Dash joining the Wonderbolts. Firstly, it would go against her quality of loyalty to the rest of the Mand 6/EoH. Secondly, again, the life of a Wonderbolt might be more structured and disciplined than she can handle. Most importantly, with Scoot now a major little-sister-like figure in RD's life, we may see her priorities slowly changing. As time goes on, I think it's becoming more clear that Dashie's fate doesn't lie with a blue/gold-striped flight suit. However, Scoot, on the other hand... (Trying to pan a fic out of this). dekutree64 713 December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 Or maybe if it's only one can qualify, then I'm assuming the one who makes it is this nee teal Pegasus pony who is assumably the rival of Dash in the episode. That's what I'm guessing. They start with a bunch of potentials, narrow it down to those two, they're supposed to compete to get in, but they get to know eachother and Dash ends up deciding teal pegasus would enjoy it more than she would, and gives up the spot even though she could have won. I don't think doubting her own abilities will be involved in the decision. But I hope there's more to it than that, because that's just way too predictable and overdone. Hopefully she won't be giving up on the Wonderbolts entirely, and that the academy isn't the only path to joining. But I also hope she doesn't ever leave her friends in order to join. As I said in another thread, best solution is if the Wonderbolts live in Canterlot, and the whole gang moves there eventually. But it's possible they live in Cloudsdale, and that would just make it hopeless. Compared to the glory of today's episode, my expectations are low. And as for her getting kicked out of school before, I agree with DashForever. Authority and schedule issues. I know I have a natural aversion to authority. If I'm lucky, I agree with the command so it looks like I'm following orders even though I'm doing what I was going to do anyway. If I'm even luckier, I get a good leader who will listen when I explain what's wrong with their plan. But if I get a power-tripping boss who gives stupid commands and demands I follow them without question, I'm outta there. And I don't deal well with schedules either. Starts to feel like my life is wasting away at high speed if I follow a constant pattern for weeks/months/years on end. You know what would make the episode a whole lot more awesome... a flashback. I doubt it will happen, but there would be a good place for it, while thinking about whether she really wants to go to the school or not. An appearance from Scootaloo would also make it more awesome. Fortunately that one is pretty likely.
Shift 4,274 December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 She got kicked out because their was too much schoolwork and not enough naptime for her. I have a strange feeling Gilda will make a return... Anyway, hopefully we'll get more Fluttershy and more of Dashie and Flutter's past on this too, and hopefully more Scootaloo. My expectations are low due to the glory and wonder of Sleepless in Ponyville. Guys I called it was horror by making the silent ponyville connection 2 Have the courage to think and act on your own. Dusty Soul 2,614 December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 I hope they do show this. I personally have thought it was because of her dislike of authority and people telling her what to do. TailsIsNotAlone 3,696 December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 (edited) I would also like to know how Dash got kicked out of flight camp. Maybe she didn't follow the rules, or maybe she just decided she knew enough about flying (who could disagree?) and quit. Maybe she just got tired of Cloudsdale and ran off to Ponyville where her awesomeness would be better appreciated. And where Fluttershy already was...hmm. Actually that would be pretty cool. At some point Rainbow's dream of being a Wonderbolt must be fulfilled or sacrificed. I think she would quickly tire of being a traveling stunt performer away from all her friends. I hope this episode starts her on the road to some kind of resolution. Edited December 9, 2012 by TailsAlone 2 "Human beings fascinate me Being just the way they are..." Scootaloo Is Best Filly 578 December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 I really do hope Gilda does make a come back. I just hope they kinda don't ruin it by her being nice. You know what I could totally see? And Scootaloo in this episode will make it even more Glorious. 2 Facebook: Josh B.
Koori 156 December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 I have a strange feeling Gilda will make a return... That would be... As for the theories... I don't know. I kinda think she got kicked out because she stroke me as a sort of rebellious pony who could not abide by the rules because she felt they restricted her and as some have already pointed out, she is "free spirited" and considering the way she behaves while flying... well, it basically shows just how much she enjoys freedom. Also, remember the episode "Read It And Weep"? When her wing got broken and she was hospitalized, she just couldn't stand to stay put until she began to read Daring Do. In other words she feels like any rule will restrict her and thus make her slower and as we all know, she can't stand slowpokes (Tank is an exception, though)... or become a slowpoke. But yes, I too am interested to see if her past catches up to her in the upcoming episode. 2 Get through the unknown like your life depended on it. NavelColt 22,883 December 9, 2012 Share December 9, 2012 The bullies that taunted Dash mentioned that 'Flight School had too many rules and not enough nap time for you', so I'm guessing she was just being Dashie. Didn't listen to authority, maybe pulled pranks, and preferred to take naps periodically when she was supposed to be doing something else. Dash marches to her own beat most of the time. She's a free-spirit in every sense. As for the upcoming episode, my guess is maturity is going to be the key factor. Whether she gets in fights, disobeys direct orders for her own vision of what will work, or simply doesn't work well with the 'teamwork' concept, since she loves being #1. There's also whats been said before. If she became a Wonderbolt she'd move from Ponyville and see her friends very little. Being the element of loyalty she'd need to choose between friends or fame.

TailsIsNotAlone 3,696 December 11, 2012 Share December 11, 2012 (edited) Well, I just rewatched Sonic Rainboom where the two jocks ask "get kicked outta any flight schools lately?" Dash: "I didn't get kicked out." Other jock: "Face it, Rainbow Crash, flight school had too many rules and not enough nap times for you." If she's telling the truth, I guess we can rule out her expulsion, at least in canon. Edited December 11, 2012 by TailsAlone 3 "Human beings fascinate me Being just the way they are..." Spring Storm 276 December 11, 2012 Share December 11, 2012 I don't really want Gilda to return, she was a b***h. Plus, what would she be doing at a Wonderbolt academy anyway? I would love at least a bit of Scootaloo though - I doubt she'll go with Dash to the academy since she can't fly, but a bit of her in the beginning of the episode would be nice. I'm guessing this will be the episode that Dash gives up on her dream to become a Wonderbolt. She'll realize that her new rival is better suited to be a Wonderbolt, that it would take her away from her friends, that she isn't very good at following orders and working in a team, etc. Realizing that what you thought you wanted to do isn't something you're actually able to do is a very powerful life lesson. But who knows? Dash just might make it into the Wonderbolts after all, and that would be awesome. 2 Together since October 19th, 2011

This is my big problem with everyone about Rainbow Dash becoming a Wounderbolt, that if she becomes one she would have to leave her friends. This is what I have to say, Thats life. Sometimes we have to let go of friendships so that friend can live their dream. If her friends did not want her to go then they aren't real friends. As long as the bond of friendship still exist with them, that friendship well last forever. That is a lesson I think everyone should learn. Plus I'm sure they let her leave if it meant she was going to save the world. Wingnut 7,018 December 11, 2012 Share December 11, 2012 (edited) I don't know if Rainbow Dash will give up her goal to be a Wonderbolt forever, but my thoughts largely echo those of everybody else, including Spring Storm and Chaotic Discord. Rainbow Dash should have more than enough speed and power to qualify, but questions surround her lack of finesse and ability to work as a disciplined team player. And most of all, she wouldn't be able to spend much time with her friends. It may have been unintentional, but Twilight Sparkle foreshadowed this dilemma when she said Rainbow Dash, "who could not abandon her friends for her own heart's desire represents the spirit of... loyalty" in the series pilot. If Rainbow Dash does join the Wonderbolts someday, it'll only happen at or near the series conclusion.
