I took a few minor issues with how the chase scene panned out, primarily in the fact that two Pegasi caught up to four Earth Ponies while hauling three times the load, but I'm not going to worry too much over it. And as others have explained, there are legitimate reasons for why Applejack would have stopped, due to the stress of the moment, not thinking properly, and so on and so forth. It's easy to examine in hindsight, but when you're in the heat of a moment, you don't always act as you might if given the chance to think about it. That said, I'd also like to point out that the episode was running into a time crunch near the end. Sure, they could have prolonged the chase scene, but why bother? Of course they woudln't, but it still a stupid thing for Applejack to do And to be honest, the episode wouldn't have to last any longer. Remember Rainbow and Fluttershy flew over the train? Dashie would have caught her eventually, just like she did in the end anyway. Being a Pegasus and the fastest flyer in Equestria would have made the conclusion inevitable either way. Seems so silly to me now that I actually had such a huge issue with this... I LOVE this episode! And hell it's MLPFIM! All is forgiven! I think it's the same reason why a villain stops and gloats when they have the upper-hand (hoof). Maybe she just felt overly victorious? Also, Fluttershy is officially a beast at running. Well I'm not saying there were quite a bit of plot holes, but the episode was great anyway. Certainly a few the plot holes bothered me a bit, but I decided to move on. But Bronies watch it because it's a good show... Problem is, adults like to poke holes in things that aren't meant to be poked...
