Discord Or Celestia?

So I looked all over, and I couldn't find any previous topics about this specifically. I'm sorry if there is one that I didn't see! I hope there isn't! :'(

Anyway, I made this to see what people think. (Not as a poll, but just in general) Who do you guys like more, Discord or Celestia? I personally like Discord a lot better. He's just the right amount of evil (tee hee) and he's hilarious! Celestia always leaves the Mane 6 to take care of everything (Trollestia) and yet she's apparently the most powerful alicorn in Equestria. I still like Celestia, because she's pretty cool, but I love Discord and his chaos! XD So what do you guys think?

I like Discord's personality more. But who would I preferred to be ruled by? Definitely Celestia. Sadly, I am allergic to pepper.

It's hard to compare them. Celestia represents harmony, nobility, calmness, regalness, etc. Discord is everything she isn't, literally. It's comparing harmony to chaos. I like both of them. Celestia is my favorite princess, Discord is my favorite villain.

 

But in a general sense, my fandom for Discord is a lot bigger than Celestia. His personality, design, powers and portrayal as a character and antagonist are all great.

I'd have to agree! Celestia's really cool and I don't mind her at all but Discord was just so much more entertaining to watch! Discord is actually just a really fun character in general.  He was just so diverse and wasn't just 'I'm so evil, grrr' lol, he had with him a variety of personalities.  Plus, I loved his voice! <3 :3

Celestia as far as stereotypical princess and mentor/teacher characters go is good but she lacks the certain pizazz that Discord has. Harmony which Celestia represents is great but chaos is a lot more interesting, Discord basically says screw physics and common sense I am Discord.

Eeyup I totally agree with you guys! Discord is by far a better character. Funny, demonic, charming...and John de Lancie (the voice actor) was the perfect choice for him. He has this personality that I know he's bad but I don't care--that's how much I like him! However, I'm not so in love with the whole chocolate milk rain thing. I'm lactose intolerant for Pete's sake!! Celestia should stay ruler but Discord should be on the show more often

I won't deny, I do have a preference for Discord, namely in terms of personality and powers. He's just far more interesting than Celestia. Although to be fair, I would definitely rather be ruled over by Celestia.

I'm happy to see so many people agree with me! But though I would have no problem living in Discord's world, I can see why others wouldn't. Lactose intolerance would be a problem now wouldn't it! :/ But I do love Celestia too. She's just trying to do what's best for everypony. And after all, you can't have chaos without a little harmony, huh?

Just like how you cannot have harmony without chaos. Both go hand in hand. You can't have one without the other and I think Celestia was wrong in that she seemed to try and forcibly remove one.

Absolutely. That is a great point that I totally agree with. Plus, what gives her the right to turn anyone to stone? Can you imagine how painful that could be? I can't blame Discord for hating her! She trapped him in a stone prison for 1,000 years! But I definitely think that she should not have tried to completely get rid of him. That defeats the purpose of having harmony if there is no chaos!

I like Discord as a character more than Celestia.He's much more entertaining and has much more interesting powers than Celestia.I always did have a soft spot for crazy/chaotic villians like him,Vaas,and Kefka to name a few.

 

However,I would much prefer a rule under Celestia than Discord.A day in Discord's realm might be fun,but after a while,I could easily see myself getting annoyed at how much more complicated things would be if they made no sense in my daily life.Hell,could you imagine everybody getting diabetes from drinking too much chocolate rain,eating cotton candy clouds,and God knows what else?

Discord is by FAR the best villain with the funniest/coolest personality. However I would prefer Celestial to rule over Equestria. But hanging out with Discord from time to time would be pretty sweet.

To be honest, this is hardest question to answer ;P

Uhhhh let's see, Celestia is harmony, peace, friendship, caring, and stuff like that.

Discord is the complete opposite.

Of course, Discord put all of Equestria in danger and chaos, but he is fun-loving and has a (Sort of) good sense of humor. Princess Celestia on the other hand, is peaceful and majestic. She's not as mischievous as Discord but she does crack a small joke from time to time. So, although having Discord as ruler was fun, I choose Celestia. (But chocolate rain was fun )

I really like how the show bounces these characters off one another. The meeting in Canterlot Tower really displays how Discord, the master troll, tried to piss her off, but Celestia with her professionalism did not take his crap.

 

As far as show characters go, I really like them both, for different reasons.

 

Celestia is a truly pure character; she gives the show a moral center and a basis for all of its lessons.

 

Discord is a funny and entertaining character, but as somepony who is way too introverted and obsessed with psychology I find it morbidly fascinating the way that he corrupts each of the Mane 6 using their darkest fears.

 

I guess it's a tie then. Still, i like both characters and can't wait to see Discord come back /)^3^(\

Celestia, hands down. Discord is just too out there. I very much dislike too much crazy, and he brings too much crazy. If he constantly showed up the amount of times Celestia did throughout the series, I would be totally sick of him.

I like DIscord, because he's interesting and chaotic, but I lean towards the Celestia side. Yeah, she has the Mane 6 do everything, but harmony has always been better (in my opinion) than chaos. It's more consistent in behavior, and definitely more organized. I also like Celestia's rainbow mane.   But I like them both.

I do like Celestia, but I love Discord so much more. I love his personality and his humor. However, I don't know about him ruling everything. I get the feeling that if something extremely bad happened, he still wouldn't act serious. Of course, Celestia doesn't seem to do much about stuff like that either, seeing as she sends Twilight and the others to do it for her.

 

I'd really rather have Luna to be the supreme ruler.

AND THEN HE THREW IT OVER HIS SHOULDER AND IT EXPLODED!!! Yes! I do remember that! The glass also filled itself from the top to the the bottom, defying physics. I LOVE that scene! It's my second favorite scene, right after the one in Canterlot Tower when Discord is trolling Celestia and she's not falling for it. XD

I agree with you. I think that Discord probably wouldn't be the best ruler for Equestria. Luna would be great though! As long as Discord was out of his stone prison, I'd be happy! XD
