Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!

Actually, that's not entirely true, there are Protestant's groups who hold that taking part in communion also involves confession of sins, and I've know teachers within the Protestant churches to tell people to be careful about taking communion without reverence and proper preparation, including confession... but there is a critical problem you will find regardless of where you go.. that of imperfect people following a perfect God..

to quote someone else..

There's an old joke that says if you're looking for the perfect church and you find it, don't join it -or else you'll ruin it!

The point of the joke is easy to see. A perfect church simply doesn't exist. Every church consists of people, and it's all those people that cause the problems.

What protestant churches has it?. Church of Norway has Evangelical Lutheran Church as its main domain i think, which i am a part of, and i've never experienced that i have to confess my sins before i participate in the ritual.

(i.e. aggressively, insensitively, etc) then it will actually be counter-productive and detrimental to all involved.

I am sorry if i have offended people : (

I understand that your intentions are good, and I took no offence :). Sometimes I can be a bit intense on certain subjects, but that should not be taken personally. I do know my limits, though I strive to be open and friendly, I do admit that I must learn some temperance. Anyways, I hold nothing against you ^_^

God is good and loving ^^. I pray all will have a good day further and wishes all good, no matter what. And i am sorry though, really. I can be pretty nasty in my ways of expressing myself, even though i really dont mean it.

Question my fellow Christians, Political Correctness, what is your opinion on it? I mean, we're God's children, therefore we shouldn't always abide by mortal standards. Right?

political correctness is stupid. say what you believe no matter what others think. you think Jesus didn't offend people, of course he did! many times to get somebody to do whats right your going to offend them.

The view I take is that 'Political Correctness' should be about not upsetting or distressing people unnecessarily, and in such cases I have no issue and see no incompatibility with Christian standards. Indeed, if I'm trying to say something to somebody, then it is almost always more effective if I don't upset or distress them - in that respect it is highly pragmatic (that doesn't mean that you don't say something if you need to, only that you carefully consider what you actually say. Common sense and empathy being the two main guiding factors.)

When it comes to abuse of 'Political Correctness', where such social expectations are abused or misrepresented for some end or other, then I'm not ok with that.

Telling the difference is the tricky bit, but just because some people abuse 'Political Correctness' doesn't mean that we should abandon it entirely. There have always been and always shall be behavioural expectations in human society, and the observation of the more reasonable ones is a good thing.

I believe people misuse the term political correctness sometimes. Although its true to not be restricted from calling a spade a spade. But that doesn't mean you should call people idiots for being into spades. But you can always call out the problem when it comes to spades objectively. Well thats how i view it atleast.

the problem is however when somebody have a delusional mind that its not a spade, or wont aknowledge it, and you gotta say. Yes it is a spade. Then its political correctness problem. In my view atleast.

Try to imagine being Paul the Apostle. That would be pretty interesting to be honest :grin2:

Although he was a great theologian. From one who has read the gospels, he understood Jesus' message and teachings very well.

Paul's conversion is really awesome! It shows that even the most wicked can change, provided they are open for it :)

And that God can directly intervene at any time in our lives, sometimes that's what is necessary to change someone's life direction.  Consider what a hard time Paul must have had trying to get the church of the time to trust him, and from his writings, we also know he had a good deal of trouble with his own conscience regarding his treatment of believers before his conversion.

Now for some lighthearted humor:

for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

I'm going home for the holidays so you might not see me here for a little bit. Just wanted to let you all know and wish you all a Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas. And have a great new year. I plan to celebrate Christmas at home.

I hope everyone here will have a good Christmas ^^

This is another brief reminder to avoid turning this topic into a debate thread. Intra-Christian dialogue is welcome -- but let's not delve into Christianity opposed against other belief systems and rationales. If you want to hold such a discussion, you should go to the Debate Pit and create a new topic.

Thank you, and Merry Christmas!

I'm United brethren. Like we say ub is the way to be. I grew up in a Cristian house and I am an athlete and have already been offered scholarships. My life was sad and empty and one night I was on the Internet and I found the ponies. They were all so happy and just amazing and my life got better. Nobody around me knows about it and it kills me. The only bronies I have ever interacted with are online.

Hello friends!

I apologize for my absence from here (yes I know I do not have any obligations, but still), but I would like to say that I hope to frequent more often, as well as wish you all a very happy, safe, and holy Christmas season.

In the meantime, I'll gloss over to see what I've missed since my last visit here.

Merry Christmas and happy new year, to you and everybody else :)

Who here enjoys Handel's Messiah at Christmastime?

I really enjoy traditional Christian music! This video you posted is amazing, it is great to demonstrate the complexity and harmony of the music. Such traditional songs are more deep and complex than what they look at first, and that is where their beauty came from :)

I'll pray for you all in this group. Prayers is a good thing to keep the spirits up. I hope it will reach God and that all will have a pleasant Christmas ^ ^

Thanks! I will also be praying ^_^

Welcome to the thread!

I am glad for you! I think that God can act through many different things, even those that aren't formally Christian, like the MLP show. It is always inspiring to listen to things like that :)

No problemo ;). I was already missing you, by the way

Take care!

May be somewhat violent. But it has that despair that i think some people can experience in their life sometimes when things gets tough and hard. I in general think its a good AMV video. I don't usually watch AMV often though ^^

Also i hope all of you will have a really good Christmas. May the Lord always be with you all.

Thank you for the best wishes for Christmas, I return them too you and wish the best for everyone else here also.  On a different note, I like the song, but not the video, it's a lot more violent then I prefer, plus I've seen to much of the particular anime, it's fun, but it's another bad interpretation of christian history, theology and thought.

Of course, if we're sharing music, here's one that I like for the Christmas season.  It also reminds me of the words from the Last Battle by C.S Lewis.. "Come further in and further up"
