Monsters lurking beneath your bed? maybe you've seen a scary movie that haunts you to this day. were you scared of the monsters in your closet? As a child, I was scared of turning on my TV and seeing static appear on the screen, as a kid, I watched "the ring" which was a bad Idea and I was scared of a monster climbing out of the screen and grabbing me. Haha, Lets look back at those moments and laugh! What was your biggest fear as a kid? Jordan Dash 31 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 I remember when I was 6 my family went camping. We stayed outdoors for about a week and the last few days while we were up north a horrible storm hit and it ended to be a tornado. Since I was smaller I was scared right out of my mind that I can't even remember most of the night. This lead to me having a phobia of thunder storms, which people think is stupid to be scared of storms... they don't understand. I am slowly recovering from the fear but I can still feel it within me. Got this signature from ~Chaotic Discord~
Kelvocity 211 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 Uhm... not sure if this is a traditional "when I was younger" fear, but... natural disasters. Tornadoes hurricanes, tsunamis, any big storm that could kill or hurt me. And someone breaking into my house, with a gun or something. I'm still scared of those, not as much but I am scared of them. Sorry I don't have any to look back and laugh at. Although when I was little, I tried looking for monsters with my friend in a forest. I wasn't scared of finding a monster though. Hmm. 1 Wait for it...
An Old Head 4,816 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 Oh god, I'm actually about to admit this. I was absolutely frightened out of my skin of the microphones from Teletubbies, and how they slowly rose out of the ground. Of course I'm not even a bit scared of them now, but I remember a recurring nightmare I had at age 6 where I had to hide from them appearing in my house.
ZLTavs 87 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 My family's Catholic (though I don't believe in the BS anymore) and they have these like paintings in frames of Jesus and Mary and such, and I swore the Jesus picture often tried to talk to me and tried to kill me or something, so I often ran into the bathroom and slept in the towel closet.
Shiki 5,857 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 I used to be afraid of the television at night. Only at night. When it was off. I always thought something was gonna crawl out of it, but I wouldn't be able to see it because it would blend with the darkness of the night. 1 You'll be entranced by me ♥
Pony Of The Month 535 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 I used to be afraid of giant monsters, like godzilla etc. I was also afraid of an episode of CatDog where dog becomes a werewolf, yet this was somehow still my favorite episode. Yet, I used to watch Courage The Cowardly Dog and I wasn't scared of it at all (except King Ramses). Now that I've grown up, Courage is much scarier, and that CatDog episode isn't so much. My Dad had a collection of horror movies, and when I was younger, I believed that I would never have the courage to watch any of them. Now that I'm older, I'm wishing that today's horror movies were half as scary as some of the cartoons I watched as a kid. 1 And The Pony Of The Month Is: Princess Celestia! Swick (ded) 436 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 Murderers. Murderers everywhere. But honestly, I sleep right next to a window, and when I was young I was always paranoid that someone was watching me through the window with a gun. Stupid television. 2 Hey you! Hey! AppleShy Sparkle 312 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 The Schwarzkopf logo. Yeah. I had nightmares aboutthat guy chasing me with a syringe outside my old daycare. I also remember this nightmare when i was chased by some kid on a tricycle, also with a syringe. He stabbed me in the gut with it. (protip:never watch detective series in the evening) ...oh, and i had a fear of syringes too. Murderers. Murderers everywhere. But honestly, I sleep right next to a window, and when I was young I was always paranoid that someone was watching me through the window with a gun. Stupid television. Ikr, i wanted the room furthest from the main entrance to avoid being found by the killer first. 2 Better run, run, run, run, run.
Future Allie Way 185 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 (edited) Funny thing, though I was a wimp as a kid (and I still am), I never feared that there would be monsters under my bed. I think it was because my bed had too little space under it, and by the time I got a new bed I was old enough to realize that there wasn't a monster hiding under anyone's bed xD Three things that scared the living daylight out of me: 1. Clockwork-like decoration on red walls near stairs. DON'T JUDGE ME >:V I know it sounds weird and also quite specific, but as a child I had a series of nightmares involving those, and they were all so weird and reminded me of Alice in Wonderland and Spirited Away lel 2. Clowns in empty circuses at night. Again, it was also my nightmares that mentally scarred me with this one ;_; Now, they still scare me but sometimes I like the feeling of being scared. So I don't mind Gamzee ohoho. 3. Floods. I have never been a good swimmer, and I learned to swim when I was 9. So when I was like 7 and I didn't even know how to float by moving my arms around, I worried that if there was a flood at night, I would never make it to the surface alive. Or that I would get trapped in my room with all the water and I wouldn't notice that my house was getting flooded with water, if I were sleeping. D1SC0RD 987 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 (edited) I find that I am afraid of more things now than I was when I was a child. Either that, or the buds of fear bloomed as the years passed. I was afraid of mostly normal things like bees, getting yelled at, sharp things, etc. However, I remember two things that a child shouldn't be afraid of. One eyed, one horned, flying purple people eater Canadian PSAs (Most of all, the House Hippos and the Robot Lady) Incase you guys don't know what those are, I've provided youtube clips that should enlighten you. Please don't judge me... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sGSwSyi6Zs Edit: Boo... links aren't really working. You'll live without the robot. Wingnut 7,052 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 Let's see...what scared me when I was little? The dark...I always slept with a nite lite. Also, after my parents went to bed and turned the downstairs lights off, the hallway would be dark and that was a bit disconcerting too. I was scared of static electricity in my blanket. In the dark it made it look like my bed was on fire. The live action Incredible Hulk program scared me when Bill Bixby wore those bright green contacts at the beginning of his transformation and gave me nightmares.
Jessper 735 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 Well, I always had very rich and living imagination, so when I was about 5, I have accidentally "invented" a monster, which moved in packs in the shadows of the night, especially in places with trees, in air ducts in buildings, in corridors and in bathrooms (I really don't know why). It basically looked ... well, about the size of a bulldog with 4-8 very thin and long legs with many joints on them and small head with no eyes and mouth similar to what ant-eaters have. And they used that "long" mouth to tear trough your skin and eat you from the inside. Yes, I don't really know, I guess I was pretty fu*ked up even as a child to make that up. So I had no problems being on a street in the night or in a dark room, but I was rather frightened of groups of trees and certain parts of buildings in the night. It really lasted untill I was about 13 I think. Then something switched and I started to really love the night and my mind.
~Chaos~ 3,973 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 When I was little (This may seem kinda lame) But I hated loud noises, I guess I was sensitive to them, so I was scared of them, also, you know when you are downstairs, then you head to go back upstairs and you feel something is following you so you run up fast, that also was something, heck, it still happens, not really scared of it, just have that feeling. xD
Scootalove 10,692 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 I always had terrible nightmares of E.T. watching me while I sleep, it stayed with me for the beginning of my childhood. DoctorWhovian1902 596 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 (edited) Besides the dark, skeletons, and knives...okay, this will sound like the stupidest thing ever, but in all honesty, the scariest thing from my childhood was the Goosebumps book series. I never read any of the stories, and was about to when I saw this one, which almost made me throw up: Scarred. For. Life. 'Nuff said. be my waifu 2,843 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 (edited) Those Emergency Broadcast System tests. You know, the ones that they don't do any more where the whole screen would turn blue, and that dude with the creepy distorted voice would come on and list off all of the parishes (counties in any other state) that were under a tornado/hurricane/etc. warning? Yeah, those have always given me goosebumps, and still do (luckily they don't do the fullscreen ones any more). No, I wasn't afraid because of the impending storm, but because of the guy's voice, and that blue screen with the blocky, mean looking text. Holy crap, that guy's voice scared me... It was all crackly and distorted. The way he said "Southeast Louisiana" was especially frightening to me. It was probably because that's where I lived, but just the way he said it makes my skin crawl... Edited January 6, 2013 by bluetrace
Zacharias 192 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 (edited) I used to be really scared when there was a thunderstorm. I really hated the sound it. I was afraid of sleeping in the dark, and I still always fall asleep with a sleep timer on the TV. Back when I was a kid I used to think that the basilisk from HP and the Chamber of Secrets would just come out of our toilet of something and look at me. And whenever we slept at my great-grandmother's place I was always imagining a giant black cat with sharp teeth biting my head off...so I always slept between my parents. I'm 21 now and I'm still scared of them but it's not as bad as it was many years ago. Now I'm more freaked out by bugs not scared.
Cowl 128 January 6, 2013 Share January 6, 2013 (edited) When I was little my parents thought my biggest fear was of the dark. However, this wasn't really accurate. I just had a nameless dread of doors in the dark with open doors being significantly worse than closed ones. Anything could be on the other side of that door, ANYTHING! I would spent all night watching the darkness watch me... Edited January 6, 2013 by Cowl 1 And to all things comes an end. We are no more than pages in a book. Turn the page, and thousands die. And for what? For the greed of two powerful leaders. Turn the page and floods, earthquakes and volcanoes are destroying the world. It is a time for acts of despair and of bravery as well. Another turn of the page and countless refugees flee. Is this the end of the story? No. There are countless pages to turn. And to all things comes a beginning! SunnyAmbience 7 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 I was afraid of clowns, it was do to the movie Killer Clowns from Outer space. I'm not to proud of it but, I was afraid of Ronald Mcdonald. To this day though I still don't trust clowns, cause i have no idea what is behind that face. The fear was a silly one at that thinking back about it. Delzepp 2,939 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 well, I have to admit that, as a kid, I was scared of the silliest things possible; off the top of my head, I'm gonna try remembering some moments that truly frightened me: The ending to Michael Jackson's Thriller took me completely unprepared, terrifying moment; The reveal of Judge Doom in Roger Rabbit, at the end, same thing as above; Mary Poppins...can you believe that? but yeah, there was a scene there after which I had trouble sleeping, as I'd get completely scared thinking about it well, this is all I could remember at the moment... Balamb 29 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 (edited) I was scared of how things were organized or placed in my room. If the floor or shelves were too bare or things weren't put away properly, it made me nervous. Marks on utensils from use or damage also freaked me out, even if they were clean (it still does). Fantasia also terrified me for some inexplicable reason. Wasn't scared of anything normal. Edited January 7, 2013 by Balamb
