@@Guinevere Griffon,

Sorry I was really busy yesterday and didn't get a chance to post. Also why is Guin still in the Captains Quarters? Snowy asked her to leave...I normally wouldn't make a big deal out of this but I think the only normal reaction would be to have you forcibly removed and detained...

Is it too late for me to join?

http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/steel-accord-r1970

This is one of the few RPs where my character's skills would be valid. (Is it so unbelievable that Equestria would have skilled swordponies?!) Another RP I'm involved with has me on a pirate ship with Daring Do. (Long story.) So I took to acting as the sort of Will Turner stand in, skilled in swordplay, at first resentful of pirates, and primarily motivated by a love interest.

Not to knock anypony's skills, but the fact that I've had formal sword-fighting training would prove a boon.

"Shut up Jack!"

Like I was saying. Historical pirates preferred gun slinging to swashbuckling, because the average pirate didn't have officer quality training in swordplay. Not to say there weren't pirates that could use a blade, they just were more likely to simply shoot you because they're cheap scoundrels. Not sure if that would hold over, just wanted to make note of it.

Sure, you sound interesting enough. What ship would you like to be on? Please take a look at the different ships on the original post and choose from one of them that has the fewest crewmembers. Then you'll need approval from said ship's captain to continue.

Do you mean you OC had formal training or you have? If it's you what was training? I'm a bit of a historical fencer myself (Well I say that but no one will train with me, I have no idea how good I am, most likely I suck) learning the two-handed German Longsword, Zweihander, and soon sword and shield.

Is the Sea Peregrine the only one trying to repair the ship or the only one with problems? It doesn't seem much is happening. Am I missing anything?

Both.

In-character my father was of the Royal Guard. He taught me to fence since I was a foul. Not the harsh drill instructor fashion. It was our father-son bonding time, and I loved it!

Out of character, I am currently training. Also leaning to use a German Longsword. (Small world!) I've only had one lesson thus far so you could probably take me, m'lady.

Thank you for getting back to me with such prompt, Captain. I shall do this! Though it will be hard to reconcile my typical, law abiding, personality with piracy. But hey! That's what playing against type is all about.

@@SilverHeart,

Actually, Captain (forgive my improper use of "m'lady" prior) would you consider adding me to your crew? I know you don't particularly wish to suffer Canterlot nobility, but that would certainly make for an interesting dynamic. Especially as I would be in a position under you. While I certainly don't come from nobility, and frankly disdain any sort of caste system, both of my parents are rather wealthy.

I may be inserted into your saga however you wish it. Though, personally I have an idea of you saving my life from being adrift at sea and mortal injury. Thus, the Code of Chivalry demands I be your champion.

Just a thought. You may send me from your sight if you wish.

Of course, I've been hoping for some one else to join.

Also in afraid I'm not using Silver Heart for this RP, I'm using Snowy Fields.

I'll write a post tomorrow morning, I have to get up at four so I need to get some sleep.

Fine, I just rescued barmaid #3. Also an important character to the story, although you have to really analyze her character to fully understand how crucial her role is.

Actually it turns out that due to legal issues, I'm no longer allowed to use the "barmaid #3" character. Apparently it's been copyrighted. I'll just make it a mop instead, that's pretty much the same thing.

We really need a full updated map of the place so we knew where we are going, with the names next to the islands and all.

Before we can do that, we need to give all the islands names. I'd toss out a few clever suggestions at this point, but I'm not very good at ponifying names.

Well we don't need only ponified names. There are places in Equestria with names like "The Everfree Forest", "Whitetail Woods", I don't actually have any others memorized....but I think they ponify names for towns/cities/ports. Random Islands would be fine with names like the two listed above....unless we were only talking about islands with an actual population.

Which brings up another point worth noting. It won't really do us much good naming and mapping the islands unless we actually establish what they're like. I believe in the OP it was said or at least implied that the islands were uninhabited, but beyond that we know nothing about them.

I could totally plot the Sea of the Windigos for you. I used to make maps for an Alternate History Forum, and they were fairly high-quality.

Alrighty, here's a map of the area around the Windgo and Karbardin Seas that are threatened by piracy.

(Click on it! It's actually bigger!)

post-9826-0-92890500-1358402807_thumb.png

Yellow stars are empire-held cities.

Red stars are pirate-controlled cities. And, obviously, there's only one. Casaflanka.

The Maw is a gigantic effing whirlpool. Think the Boar's Eye if you've ever read Eragon. You have to catch it in that 15 minute window between tides if you don't want to end up at the bottom of the ocean.

Shark Tooth Island, and the city of Saint Gelding might be rather hard to read.

And here you are, the map.

Wait a second, then where is Stalympos? I have mentioned it many times before, but i don't see it on that map. I remember saying it was to the south.

Oh. Was that an island? Oops. I though it was another ship.

We can rename Neighssau Island or Shark Tooth Island or the City of Fetlocke to Stalympos, or I can just add another island. It's easy enough to. My bad!

I remember because I actually had to use the old map that the island labeled Stalympos is labled Shark Tooth on your map. I say we just assume that Stalympos is another name for Shark Tooth island.

I'll simply rename Shark Tooth Stalympos. Should there be a town on it? Equestrian or Pirate if so?

I did move Horseshoe Island (Which was previously unnamed) east, to make the sea larger, and if Shark Tooth is Stalympos, then Stalympos has been moved northeast and largened considerably. If you noticed, I did add a few other landmarks onto the map that weren't there before, like, basically, everything. Originally, Stalympos was halfway between the halfway point of Neighsau and the Fetlocke, and Fetlocke itself. Neither Fetlocke or Neighsau was there before.

I'd ask pwd about whether or not there should be a town on it since he's the one who came up with it and his ship was headed there. Obviously, Krystal should have the final call.

I'd like to note that I'm willing to expand the map should need be. It would be easy enough to do. There are a few places rather empty that I could name, like that passage between Neighssau and the mainland.

I could be a little more clear with the terminology, too. The Sea of Windigos is everything between the small Naiad Island (Which is not well-known or depicted on many maps; Indeed, it's depicted rather larger on this map than it is in actuality), Horseshoe Island and Baymuda (Bermuda). The Karbardin Sea is widely considered part of the Sea of Windigos, but when spoken of distinctly, solely refers to the area south of Baymuda, and the area west of Shark Tooth/Stalympos. Only the mainland cities are entirely missing out on piratic infiltration. Saint Gelding (Based on St. George, Bermuda) and Neighssau City have Piratic Black Markets. The mainland Equestrian Presence is too strong for that to last long, and only Casaflanka is completely independant of Equestrian Presence.

Generally the Southern Passages to the Antlertic Ocean is avoided by pirates; Traveling the Fetlocke Strait is quite as much a death wish as sailing across the Maw is. The Fetlocke Strait is mostly in sight of the city's tall towers, and Equestrian Interceptors are often sent out to affront unrecognised ships.

The Maw is a monstrous maelstrom of swirling death, caused by the tidal currents of Horseshoe and Stalympos. When the tide waxes, it rotates north to west; when the tide wanes, it rotates north to east. On average, the Maw's center is a league in diameter, while the arms can reach up to fifteen miles across. Ships unlucky enough to be caught by it were utterly destroyed, with remnants of the vessels found on the beaches of both islands. It is the terror of many sailors and pirates. Widely considered unpassable even under the best of circumstances.

I had thought Krystal had said that there were very few Equestrian ports in the Sea of Wendigoes?

Eh. Well, my map has yet to be commented upon. It's not official quite yet. I'm willing to move stuff around... Or erase stuff... But why would pirates choose to live in a place where there's no commerce to raid?
