No GameFaqs account for me sadly :(.

I cry foul on Sleepless losing. No way. No how.

Butthurt mostly over, I'm voting for Sonic Rainboom. It did an excellent job of portraying some of the depth to Rainbow Dash's character, revealing the driving insecurities that she fights constantly to hide and overcome. The art and the Rainboom themselves were undoubtedly amazing, and it provided some nice development for Fluttershy on the side as well. I believe that it is one of the stronger episodes in the series and definitely deserves a spot in the next round.

Winter Wrap Up was entertaining and had a catchy song, but Sonic Rainboom is thw quintessential Rainbow Dash episode. So I pick Sonic Rainboom

I've had the Winter Wrapup song stuck in my head ALL WEEK for no apparent reason. I shall give that episode my vote in an attempt to appease it, though I don't REALLY mind that much.

Sonic Rainboom takes my vote. I'm late for school, so I'll add my vote now then come back after school to explain exactly why. (The first reason being that Dash is my second favourite pony)

Wow, genuinely forgot to add my reasons. Heh.

The reason I like Sonic Rainboom isn't because of the actual Rainboom, or because of Fluttershy's famous yay scene. It's because it introduces and then fixes up a great personal flaw - anxiety. It was really interesting to see the panicky side of Rainbow after we get used to her narcissistic character, and how in the end it wasn't her desire to win the competition that allowed her to pull off the Rainboom, but the desire to save her friend and her idols from falling to their death. That was a wonderful touch.

I do appreciate Winter Wrap Up as an actual episode. People forget about it, the musical number pretty much swallowed up the bed space when the episode itself was also good. But Sonic Rainboom wins this one for me.

Sonic Rainboom... <_< Lets just say I don't care about this episode as much as everyone else seems to. I hated Rainbow Dash back in season 1. Even now that I like her, my opinion hasn't really changed. I find it boring (aside from the climax) and find it annoying that they basically demolished all of the character development Rarity had gotten at that point. Some pretty world-building, but I'm not a huge fan of it.

Winter Wrap Up was essentially the episode that made me join the fandom, just due to the song alone. There are also some hilarious moments and Twilight trying to fit in is relatable. So, of course, my vote goes to Winter Wrap Up.

...and Sleepless in Ponyville got beat out again.  I get Magic Duel beating it, but why Best Night Ever?!

No, I don't have a Gamefaq account, but I'd make one if it was necessary.

I'm actually voting for Winter Wrap Up here, even if it's gonna lose. It was one of the best episodes for Twilight Sparkle, and introduced the idea that Twilight is very organized, which lead to two absolutely hilarious Season 2 episodes.

Now I feel silly for nominating 'The Best Night Ever'...  Oh well.

About today's matchup, I went with 'Sonic Rainboom' for its plot-relevance.  Both episodes were memorable for me, but I didn't really think that either was exceptionally spectacular.

EDIT: I do not currently have a GameFAQs account, though as long as creating one is free, I don't see any reason why that can't change.

With all the boring episodes out of the way, it's going to be a steady stream of tough choices from here on out.  Winter Wrap Up deserves all the accolades it has received, especially for the musical sequence.  The music and the animation during the song were above and beyond the call of duty for a mid-season episode.  The episode also established Twilight's organization skills and foreshadowed her as a great leader in the future.

But, of course, I'm voting for Sonic Rainboom.  It is very rare to see Rainbow Dash lacking confidence.  But the stakes in the best flyer competition were set so high she knew the only way she could win was to duplicate a seemingly impossible feat she performed once in her whole life.  And the only reason she was able to do it again on this occasion was because one of her best friends was in jeopardy.  This is also one of only two MLP episodes that were able to make me tear up (Hurricane Fluttershy is the other).

For what it's worth, the first time I ever watched anything MLP:FiM related was a "Guile's Theme Goes with Anything" video on Youtube.  I was just randomly browsing videos based on that meme and an MLP video was among them.  Let me see if it's still availabe.  Here it is!  :)

I thought it was a nifty video, but it didn't cause me to start watching the cartoon.

I say, Sonic Rainboom. It helped really develop more of Rainbow Dash and showed that she once again defied the odds once again, by performing the legendary mythology move in Equestria history, the Sonic Rainboom!

But as to Sleepless in Ponyville losing,

Yay! Rainboom pulled through!

While It's About Time is one of my favorites I have to give it up for Luna Eclipsed. It's probably the best episode visually in the entire series, the Halloween atmosphere was created well and a lot of effort was put into costumes for background characters. I'd say I notice something new and cool every time I watch it. Bonus points for Dashie in a Shadowbolt costume :).

That's not even going into the actual plot of the episode either. Luna was made into a very interesting character, one who obviously wanted to atone for her actions and yet had no idea how to communicate with her subjects like Celestia can so effortlessly. It says a lot about FiM that it can make me want to give a screaming, lightning bolt throwing ruler of the night a big hug. The pacing of the episode seemed to run well and the ending with Luna finally being accepted just makes you smile to see :).

Gah, this is a bit more difficult then its been last couple times I've done this :P.

Well "Its about time" has some pretty cool references and Twilights metal breakdown is entertaining. I find Luna eclipsed has a pretty good set of funny things in it, and not to mention everypony's favorite princess(Luna) And I actually find it relatable to myself personally.

That and Royal Canterlot voice :P. and many other funny things made this episode awesome, aswell as being writen pretty great to, and seeing Zecora return, getting to see the Halloween of Equestria. Many many things.

So i'm giving this round to "Luna Eclipsed".

It's About Time was hilarious and Twilight was great, but the plot itself didn't make much sense (why did Twilight have to go back in time in the first place? Think about it and how many time loops there must be.) which kind of ruined my enjoyment for it a tad bit.

Luna Eclipsed was funny and brought a character back in a way that made everyone happy (which truly is saying something in a fandom this big.) Luna brought a very interesting and somewhat relatable conflict to the story, and it was done excellently. Also, ponies in costumes is too adorable and the overall atmosphere of the episode was really well done.

*Notices Luna Eclipsed is winning 16-4.*

Luna Eclipsed was obviously going to win this one.

1) It tuned the sympathy for Luna so well - stuck in the moon for a thousand years and all she wants is to be accepted by everyone, but can't help her frightening vocals which appear from suppressed anger at her millennium of banishment. It worked so well.

2) The setting and gags in the episode also worked really well in themselves - it was full of both Ponyville spirit and the fun-and-games feel of the previous episodes.

3) Pinkie in a chicken suit is just hilariously farcical and ridiculous.

Time travel plots confuse me.  I can't wrap my head around the whole thing, so it makes it harder for me to enjoy the episode when I'm trying to calculate how all of this is really supposed to work.  Luna Eclipsed was fun, and it was nice to see Luna again after being forgotten about for the entire first season, so it gets my vote.

I voted for It's About Time. I love stable time loops so much, and the logic makes sense to me. And the big problem that people had with the episode, the idea that "Why did Twilight travel back in time?", is easily explained for me. The only situation that would have resulted in Twilight being there to travel back in time, is one where she decided to do so. Plus, Twilight hadn't slept in days and went through a whole lot of trouble to find out that there was no disaster. In her sleep deprived mind, it made sense to try to prevent it from happening.

Other than the awesome fun of time travel logic, there was also the characterization. Not only was Twilight hilarious, but everyone else was spot on too. I think I like Spike best in episodes like this, where he plays the voice of reason to Twilight's insanity. But Spike also acted immature and, well, like a little kid, which gave him some balance. Pinkie Pie also played the voice of reason in a much more enjoyable fashion than she did in Feeling Pinkie Keen. She treats it like fun and games, which serves as an important contrast to Twilight's overly serious demeanor. Other moments like prankster Dash and teamwork montages made it all in all a great episode.

Luna Eclipsed, on the other hoof, left much to be desired for the characterization of the non Luna and Twilight ponies (and RD). They were acting rather annoying, especially Pinkie Pie.

Bah, how do I keep missing these threads? Oh well, at least my favorite episode has one without my support again.

Let's see here, one of the best episodes of season two or my second least favorite episode of all time? Luna Eclipsed, hands down.

Ooh, I really hate to vote against a Dashie episode but this is one time I'm going to have to. There's just so much world building and character establishment in Cutie Mark Chronicles. There was plenty of focus for each character with a solid amount of comedy and great visuals to accompany it. I think it's one of the better episodes in the series and it deserves to advance, even over another of my favorites :(.

It also helps that the Filly Six were adawable :)(especially the blue one ;) )

Before I even logged in this morning, I knew DashForever would have the first reply to the newest episode round :P

My vote goes for Cutie Mark Chronicles, I thought it was simply wonderful. Even if Scootaloo was acting like a complete cow the entire episode, I just love the idea of back story after back story. All of the six even have their own mini-lesson in them: Applejack's was to always follow what your inner self told you, Twilight's was to always try hard because you don't know what could happen to achieve your goals... you get the idea. But above all, it ties together everything about the show itself, it explains their presences in Ponyville and how they were destined to be friends - the amount of cliché could destroy a building, but I don't care because the writers embrace it so proudly.

Cutie Mark Chronicles still is, like, half an RD episode, because, well, Scootaloo absolutely loves her mentor. :D

Two great eps here, but, I'm gonna have to give this one to CMC Chronicles.

(it still sort of counts as a Dashie episode, remember that now)
