Season finale : a musical?

According to this guy from Action Figure Insider on Twitter who is at the Toy Fair, the next episode (which is the finale) will be a musical:

 

"Daniel Pickett @AFInsider

#hasbrotoyfair talking MLP. Twilight Sparkle will be a princess. New episodes are in the works. next episode will be a musical"

 

Do you think he simply misunderstood the information and it's just going to be a regular episode, with a song or do you believe him? If so, what do you think of the idea?

Well, all of the "final" episodes have had music in it. It wouldn't be a surprise if it had music, but im guessing your saying that the whole episode will be a musical. Im not sure what to think about this, im still pretty shocked over the fact they're going too make Twilight into an alicorn. But maybe they will do so with a song, to make it easier to take.  Lol :P

Sweet. I wouldn't mind a music, as long as the songs are good. Usually, on the premiere or finale of a season for MLP, there's at least one song. It would go along nicely with

 

 

Twilight becoming an Alicorn.

I don't mean only one or two songs as we usually get but really a 22 minute long musical, with some spoken dialogue but most of it would be sung.

Now that will be interesting, this makes me actually look more forward too it.. Not the fact that they will turn her into an alicorn, though i trust the writers, they're probably going to do it in a way we will be happy about it. But just, well you know a whole episode with singing.. Im not sure we can handle that much singing.. Either way this episode might be interesting.

Maybe it will, like i say, make it easier too take, i doubt that she will become an alicorn, they're going too make a scene where she is an alicorn, then they're going to turn her back.. Maybe..., we will just have to wait for the episode, a whole musical, interesting. I wonder how it will turn out.. ;)

If the finale is a musical... that'd be so freaking amazing. They really missed an awesome opportunity in Just For Sidekicks; that episode would have worked so well as a Broadway style episode. Instead of ending Spike's "I have no jewels" song, they could have continued it when Fluttershy opened the door, like...

And just have Spike's gem collecting sequence be a song interspersed with spoken dialogue. If they can pull of a finale like that... *squee*

Um, wasn't A Canterlot Wedding technically a musical?  I like it when they incorporate musical style numbers into episodes.  But I don't think I could tolerate 22 minutes of straight singing.  The Powerpuff Girls did this once with Feel Me, See Me, Gnomey.  It was done in a rock ballad style and about 10 minutes in, it was really starting to get on my nerves.

The True, True Friend song kind of reinforces this idea :

 

 

It doesn't exactly sound like it's about the lyrics but rather about the action, just singing dialogue, you know, like a musical.

 

And it is a 3 minute long song in a (supposedly) 22 minute long episode which needs to have the switching of cutie marks, its consequences, Twilight writing her own magic, a solution (this song)  and Twilight's coronation... So it's not like they would have time for a song like this if it wasn't a musical. I might be completely wrong of course  :lol:

Having listened to the song myself, and noticed a lot of the apparent issues with the lyrics... I could very much believe it is meant as a song within a musical. It's certainly long enough without conveying as much information as some of the other show songs have, and it's bouncy and playful.

That episode was also a horrible episode that I did not enjoy in the least, much like the entirety of the PPG's sixth season. I suspect a pony episode is going to be of much higher quality.

All of my yes. I love it when shows do musical numbers, so this would be fantastic.

 

I want something in the vein of The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings. That would absolutely make my season. :D

That would prove to be interesting.  If it's true, which it very well might be, it would be awesome.  It would be cool to see what they could come up with.  

 

I hope for this if the above is true. If you remember back at the beginning, Octavia was given a possible voice.  This might be the finale song. (

Some news (well, from yesterday) : "It was cleverly executed, had multiple catchy songs (including one sung by Celestia! No, seriously, guys, we get Celestia singing), and was overall very fun to watch." Source is Comics Online, who attended the Princess Coronation.

 

Now "multiple catchy songs" + Celestia singing sounds A LOT like a musical to me. Of course there would be some spoken dialogue inbetween songs but still... Awesome.

Well, Derpyhoovesnews posted a review someone who attended the coronation event wrote. This person mentions that one of the previous three princesses gets a song.. So I guess that kinda makes more sense now.

I swear we are getting a musical on saturday, EQD really seemed to hint at it in their review :

 

"Packing it into a 22 minute time slot must have been a huge challenge in itself, but they really took it to the next level. My biggest hint? Daniel Ingram was involved in pretty much all of i!. I also got the feels, and I almost never get the feels."

 

And "Apparently Daniel and Stephan took over for both the BGM and songs within the episode this time around. You will see why this is a bit different once it airs." It's a pretty huge clue.

Seems to be pretty musical so far. True, True Friend, Celestia singing... Who knows if there will be more, and like Malakili mentioned, Daniel Ingram was "involved in pretty much all of it", so that probably means lots of songs. :P

Welp with all the hints Equestria Daily has given us I have to say that this will be in fact a musical episode.

 

Kinda like in an episode of Scurbs where they used songs to tell the story.

In any case I am excited for this episode and can't wait for Saturday.

Well, there's at least 3 songs that we know of so far (True, True Friend, the Cutie Mark Song and whatever the name of the one Celestia sings is).

 

Probably more, so yeah, it'll probably turn out to be pretty musical. I think I'm okay with this. :)
