Anime characters like the Mane Six, and why?

Goku from the ever-popular Dragon Ball Z is a lot like Princess Celestia. Both are kind-hearted, compassionate, powerful in their own right but manage to be very benevolent to everyone around them -- unless they're in danger, then they'll stop at nothing to protect their friends and family.

 

Nah, I don't know- Goku's too simple minded to really be a Celestia. 

 

If I were to compare any character to Celestia, it would be Optimus Prime, being the wise and dignified leader who has the respect and admiration of all of those under his command.  And yes that counts, as he does appear in several Transformers anime.

Yomiko Readman of "R.O.D." and also "R.O.D. the TV" is the perfect anime counterpart for Twilight Sparkle. Both are somewhat lacking in social skills, and practically have to be forced to make friends. Both also have a huge and undying love of books! Lastly, while not as versatile as Twilight with her spells, Yomiko can preform "Paper Magic". She can make any piece of paper do her bidding, right down to being able to do battle with paper swords and knives, and stop bullets with a business card.

 

This is actually Yomiko's bedroom. If you look closely, she's actually even in bed! Her whole house pretty much looks like this in the original OVA series. She regularly will spend her entire paycheck on books!

Oh and, now that I think about it, Fluttershy is kind of like Crona (Soul Eater, like the 1st season, maybe.) because they both get pushed around (Fluttershy by other ponies, Crona by Ragnarok and Medusa.) Then, they have their crazy moment where they fight. I dunno, I'm not completly sure.

I love this thread, i always had in mind some anime characters related to the mane 6.

 

Fluttershy: Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon): both are cry babies but gold-hearted. Fluttershy, like Sailor Moon tries to make the enemy a friend (Fluttershy-Discord/Sailor Moon-Sailor Galaxia) instead of defeating it. They both know the real meaning of mercy and make us know that there are lots of other ways to solve things without using violence. What is more, Fluttershy's pet is a bunny, and Usagi in japanese means bunny too.

 

Twilight Sparkle: (and this is for you Bardock ) : Bulma Brief (DB) : Bulma is my favorite character of all time, love her! They both are very intelligent and pretty, they know what to say in the right time and always have an answer for everything.

 

Pinkie Pie: Lime (Saber Marionette J): They always laugh and they both are very optimistic characters.

 

Rarity: Mikami (Ghost Sweeper Mikami): Both are sexy and determined.

 

Applejack: Minako Aino (Sailor V/Venus from Sailor Moon): They look alike. Their personalities aren't the same but both are loyal friends and always want the best for them.

 

Rainbow Dash: Ranma female version (Ranma 1/2): Both have a tomboyish attitude but they have self-confidence.

One of my friends on FiMFiction is a massive Flutterdash fan and wrote a big blog post about other ships he liked that were similar to it and one was NaruHina .

 

While I'm here I feel compelled to do a comparison. I'd like to compare Lightning Dust to the entire team of Rikkaidai Fuzoku from Prince of Tennis. The team is, among other things:

 

1: Stupidly OP and talented. They won the national championships for two years in a row and would have won another probably if the main character wasn't handed a load of Deus Ex Machina abilities. And Lightning Dust is nothing if not talented.

 

2: Very committed to improvement. On the off chance that one of them loses, they (willingly) go through frightening training to make sure it doesn't happen again.

 

3: Arrogant and elitist, although given their success and ability it's difficult to blame them.

 

4: Very callous at times, one thing they did to help an underclassman improve would probably have had really bad effects on his mental health if nothing had been done about it. They're willing to do pretty questionable things in the name of bettering themselves.

 

So if Lightning Dust was a Japanese, tennis-playing, fangirl bait boy, I think she'd be on this team.

Rainbow Dash seems to have a pretty similar personality to Tomo Takino from Azumanga Daioh. They're both tomboyish, athletic, in-your-face, somewhat immature, and confident on an extreme level. 

 

Pinkie Pie seems to be somewhat like Haruhi Suzumiya in that they're both very cheerful, extroverted and a bit outlandish at times. They also both have powers and abilities that nobody else seems to have.

In "Wonderbolt Accademy", Spitfire reminded me of Roy Mustang from Full Metal Alchemist.
