Assurance sighed. "W-We never got any love. We immigrated to Equestria from the lands of Nocturnia - only the city of Vampiris. When Luna came back, all of us became royal guards. They used to be afraid of us...but now we're being used as scapegoats for the whole Discord thing."

"I suppose I know what distrust feels," Krein said. "Some are rightfully distrusted, but of your kind I'm not sure why they hate you at all..."

The forest trees were coming into view, but they were still distant. The temperature increased making Krein spread out his wings to siphon the enjoyable heat to himself.

(If it's okay with everyone, I'm going to hold off my entrance for a little bit. I have an interesting idea in the works that not only fits with my backstory, but will also be rather... interesting in its execution. I hope that no one is afraid of explosions, by the way.)

Hearing the constant speech from the other Ponies, Glacier finally snapped.

"Grrr. Can you ponies shut up for just 1 minute!" Glacier shrieked. "What could possibly be be THAT interesting that you feel the need to talk at very single moment of silence? Nothing, that's what. So unless you have something really interesting to talk about, do us all a favour and SHUT IT!"

Ace stared at the ragin pony that told them all to shut up, Ace got up and walked over to him. "And what about you? Do you have anything "interesting" to say? Were getting to know each other so we can learn to trust each other." Ace said with a smile despite the tensen in the room.

Snow had begun to sweat in her tiny corner of the car; in fact, she was choking on the thickness of the dusty air. She hurriedly recreated the snow swirling around her and relaxed slightly as she cooled off. She was from far up north and wasn't quite used to the warm climate, and this was even worse than usual.

 

Further down in the car, Cora was also boiling. She was used to the warm summers, unlike the still overheated unicorn, yet this was abnormal. Dread started building up in her stomach and another memory pushed at the edge of her conciousness, this one vivid. She shoved it away mentally when the snippish new unicorn yelled at them to shut up.

 

"This is much less refined than I had expected," she sighed, lolling her head back against the seat. "Do quiet down, dear, you're giving me quite the migrane."

"If I had something interesting to say, I would be with somepony else. Why do you even need to trust each other? If you didn't already trust each other, find somewhere you can trust build without disturbing everpony else."

 

Glacier then turned to face the migraine pony.

 

"Oh, having a migraine. I do apologise, I'll get rid of it." Glacier knocked several times on the ponies head and put his mouth next to her ear. "Any better?" Glacier shouted.

[Hmm. I think I might follow them, should be fun.]

The heat had started to get to Corkscrew. He was using his wings to fan himself. "Boy is it warm." By now a commotion had built up in the back of the car. He heard a pony tell everyone to shut up and another pony was hitting Cora and yelling in her ear.

 

He walks back to Glacier. "Excuse me, but I believe that you are invading the lady's personal space. Remember Love and Tolerate."

"Love and tolerate my flank. Maybe you should help everyone and cram it."

 

(OOC: Glacier is now a woman.)

 

[How do other ponies stay so calm? I need to try calm some day... Nah. I love being who I am. I do things no matter what.]

 

Glacier's horn gave an ominous glow and a single small shard of ice appeared and shattered, the cooling water giving Glacier relief from the heat. "Ah.. Much better"

Corkscrew rolls his eyes and heads back towards the front of the car. He looks down at his armor. "Did that....Was I....ah buck it." he says as he takes his seat. "Celestia sent me to try to keep order on this trip. Not even at the first stop and we can't even keep from fighting. I bet Discord is getting a good laugh out of this." 

 

Corkscrew puts his helmet back on and begins to stair out the window again.

"Much better," replied Cora cheerfully. "Though I find it frighteningly ironic that you're asking us to be silent whilst you yell and making a fool of yourself."

 

So far, no one on this trip seemed to be very intelligent or up to par with Cora's standards. She had hoped for a few people she could have a reasonable and logical chat with but thus far the only one who seemed to make sense was the white one in the far back.

Glacier sat refreshed from the ice shard, just gazing into the air when the words "Discord" and "Celestia" hit her ears.

 

[Discord? Celestia? Who are these ponies? I definitely have to follow them now. But I must not seem like I am eavesdropping. Best move.]

 

Glacier got up and wondered towards the buffet car and bought a sandwich. She returned to her seat and began eating.

 

[if the sandwich works, they must be thicker than a brick milkshake. But still, these ponies intrigue me. They seem to be on an important mission if it involves Celestia. I could get my chance if I follow them. I could become powerful.]

 

Glacier went back to the sandwich. Almost gagging at the poor quality, Glacier stifled any noise so as to remain less suspicious.

Libra sighed quietly and went into the buffet car. He came back later holding a glass of sparkling wine. "Does anypony know anything about how we might make it through the forest?" He asked. "And what is wrong with this poor mare's sandwich?" He chuckled at his humor and took a sip.

Supernova had dozed off in his seat. He woke up at the loud sound of a yell. "Huh, wazzat...?" he said aloud while yawning at the same time. During his slumber, he had forgotten why he was on the train. Puzzled, Supernova walked to the nearest pony he could find. There he saw a bright snow white unicorn. The air around her was cool, soothing to his skin. Approaching the mare, he whispered softly, "Hey, uh, what are e doing again?"

"I find this heat to be quite enjoyable," Krein said as he allowed more heat to siphon towards him to decrease the temperature. "But it is too torrid around these parts, I don't remember it ever being like this...."

 

~The speakers crackled to life as the conductor announced that they had arrived at the closest place they could to the Everfree. The train slowed down as it stopped at a lonely, rather run down stop, and soon everypony began to file out. The outside felt no better than it had inside, but the view was rather terrible. What seemed to originally be a lush area was now a scorched, arid land. A few weather pegasi were flying around trying to produce rain clouds, but whenever they managed to get even a few they would quickly disperse and fade into nothingness.~

 

Kreinbahthur was one of the last few ponies to exit the train. When he finally exited, he couldn't help but freeze at the sight of the land before him. His face seemed to turn unexpressionless as his mind drifted back to his memories, and soon a rather cruel grin formed on his face.

"Heh, it's beautiful, isn't it?", he quietly asked to no one in particular.

Assurance quickly exited, but she galloped too quickly as ran into a random pony. She quickly stood up and attempted dusting them off. She seemed to not care she was a bat pony, and Assurance wasn't complaining. After the pony trotted off, Assurance started to dust herself off, but failing at it.

Corkscrew goes over to Assurance to help her dust herself off. "Us guards have to stick together. Just remember, I've got your back." he said with a small smile.

"What did you say?", Kreinbahthur asked with a rather irritated look. He finally realized what was going on, and a look of worry flashed across his face before it went solemn and he turned away.

"Right then," he said quickly. "Anypony having second thoughts about this?"

 

~The group loitered a little longer before finally moving closer to the forest. Once they were finally near one of its many entrances, they sawthat the place was not faring too well from the arid climate. What could? Despite some of the singed trees, it was still as gloombound as ever, and the sounds of angry creatures could be faintly heard from a distance.~

As the ponies approached the forest, the ground began to shake. A faint cry of, "ALICORN!" flickered through the air, then a section of the earth beside them exploded, sending an earth pony hurtling through the air. He lands, coughing, his face and white lab coat covered in soot. Fumbling for his glasses, he squints at the group. "Who are you? What are you doing here?"

[Now, I have to find some way of following them. Can't seem to suspicious though. Ah. Who am I kidding,I don't care. When have I ever cared? Let's do it by any means.]

 

Glacier trotted past the group of ponies and the exploded pony and said in a snarky voice "See ya later loud mouths. Enjoy your trust-building." Glacier laughed to herself and in a tone mocking that of Corkscrew's "Why don't we all become best of fwends! Glacier gave another laugh and created large cube of ice. "Here, exploding guy, try cooling down." Glacier created the ice block just an inch away from Addem Up's body, letting it fall once in the desired position.

As the ponies approached the forest, the ground began to shake. Ace choughed from the smoke from the explosin "*chough* Whoa! What was that is a better question! *chough*" Ace said to the earth pony as Glacier created a large cube of ice. Were just meeting more and more strange ponies arn't we? Ace thought clearing the smoke from his face.

Kreinbahtur turned to face the pony who had erupted from the ground. Was he someone trying to deter them this early in the quest? He didn't seem like much, but then again Discord would probably do something like that to mess things up.

"And why might you want to know?", Krein asked, the air around him seemingly growing hotter as he spoke.

"Because, whoever you are, you've just destroyed my lab, blown me up, and most importantly robbed me of weeks of work. Why in the name of the goddesses is an alicorn wandering around unannounced?" Addem stood, dusting himself off and straightening the wire-rimmed glasses on his muzzle.

Cora stared at the new arrival with a raised brow. She was lingering on the outskirts of the group and had been spared the explosion of dirt he had created.  

"How did he ruin your research?" she asked skeptically.

 

Snow was staring at him as well, but she seemed more interested in the forest. She approached it slowly, ignoring the rest of the group.

"Ha, I blew this up? Shouldn't you be carefully controlling your variables anyway? And I don't see... why my species has anything to do with this," Krein said suspiciously, this time raising the heat around him in case this actually was a threat. "So who sent you colt? Discord or some other crony of his?"
