Zygen's Hearts and hoove day drawing :D

Hey y'all! even though I told myself yesterday I wasn't gonna try to make a drawing for hearts and hooves day I was bored so I ended up drawing one anyways :P.

So yeah here it is.

Now before anypony says so I know for a fact that the mouth looks weird. I was trying to make it look right and like hes holding it but everything I tried just didn't look quite right.. I'm not really sure why :P. So sorry if that looks odd, I was just experimenting with stuff, and I didn't have any good references to go by. So its kinda sloopy looking.

If anypony can provide some insight on how to fix that problem it would be much appreciated :).

I'll leave the rest of the picture up to y'all to judge, I just wanted to point out the obvious before anypony did :).

As always this was drawn with GIMP. Using my mouse. I used a reference picture of Fluttershy for the pose, and I used a reference of my OC for colors and stuff, but I'm slowing trying to get better at not needing reference as much. Theres probably a good majority of this I could draw without a reference honestly :P. I just wanna make sure everythings right.

Anyways I'll stop rambling. Happy Hearts and Hooves day! Both to the singles (Like me) and the people who are spending it with a special somepony <3

Later y'all! And a wonderful hearts and hooves day!

Ps. If you can't tell I'm almost as bad at drawing hearts then I am at drawing circles. Feel free to scold me for my terrible looking hearts :P.

That's sweet of you Zygen  . It takes a lot of willpower (or boredom) to do a drawing on the day-of. Anyways, with the mouth. I don't really know how to explain it other than thinking of the snout as a 3d object as opposed to a flat feature attached to the face. People have different styles for snouts, some short and round and some show-accurate. Maybe look at some of the art on Drawfriends and study how the snouts are drawn. Having guidelines in a sketch can help a lot. I don't know if you do that before drawing. Hope that helps!

hehe, I'm pretty sure it was mostly boredom to be honest, I don't have a whole lot of willpower. Or atleast I don't think :P.

I understand its a 3d object but idk its hard for me to get visualized I guess, I think I need to somehow give the mouth depth. Which I'm not exactly sure how I'll do... Honestly I'm not that great at visualizing when it comes to drawing art, Especially for perspective. Usually I have to find a reference of some type and try and see how its drawn. But I should probably work on my visualization skills to be honest.. :P

I don't draw any guidelines really for my drawings. Unless you count the outlines(Which I doubt you do :P.) I've never really tried it before since I don't really know how to use them properly and I'm just lazy sometimes :P. I just use a reference which I switch between it and my drawing to check and make sure I have everything drawn right or if I need to know how to draw some part.

Thanks for the tips and suggestions though :) I'll try to find some art to look at and maybe I'll be able to do this better for next time.

It's okay, I still have trouble visualizing mouths too. Another thing I see is you drew the muzzle a little low. If you look at your avatar the muzzle should top off at the middle of the eyes. With a higher muzzle you get more chin to work with and have an easier time drawing a mouth.

Yeah I see what you mean, I've got a problem with drawing low muzzles I guess, not sure why. I try not to draw the muzzle to far out but in order to make it go higher I have to like curve it out more and idk its very confusing for me to get right for somereason.

I just feel like the mouth looks weird, It looks like the teeth are like totally out of place or something, infact it feels big to me, but I know that can't be the case seeing as how small it is. It looked even worse the first time I tried drawing it to me because I had the mouth longer and also had the teeth and mouth go down farther.

I'll have to just draw a head and try and look at other art and experiment or something. Maybe I'll get it to look right somehow :P.

Thanks for the help regardless Drahgoon :)
