It has been confirmed that Rarity will have multiple episodes in season 4, so apparently Hasbro doesn't see it the same way. Applejack isn't insanely popular, but she got her own episode basically in season 3, so there is that.

 

Wait, wouldn't dropping Rarity and Applejack, oh I don't know, destroy the whole 'Elements of Harmony' thing? Yeah, let's see them do that and expect the actual fan base to stay quiet.

I'd say season 3 was Applejack love, she got the most attention, I guess to make up for lack of attention before

Rarity has had a lot of episodes in both seasons prior... she's doing fine.

Its no secret that these two characters are the least popular among the intended demographics. Would it really be such a big loss if they were to be dropped like how it happened to Rarity in Season 3? I mean you'll see them decorating the background like Derpy, but no more speaking roles for Applejack or Rarity.

 

The show would drop 2 main characters and the mainstays will be Twilight Sue, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash......with Twilight Sue upstaging the others even further of course.

 

It wouldn't surprise me if they did that. After all anyone remember how Teen Titans had no seasonal arc for Starfire? I could see Hasbro doing this in a shallow corporate greed driven kind of thing.

Hasbro doesn't care if they piss off bronies as you can see with Twilicorn. Bronies are still considered a cult movement and does not concern Hasbro. Doubt they would do such a thing as taking members off the mane six yet. It all comes down to how their products go. It's possible they might replace some of the mane six just so they can sell new products, just don't be surprised if it was your favorite ones.

Especially when the big theme of the show is friendship and togetherness. How are you gonna explain the elements of harmony if you lose any of its users?

What? I'm sorry but I highly disagree with your statement.

 

Do you know how much these two contribute? Just imagine the show without them. Sure maybe they're a bit lower on the most popular list, but there is certainly some devote fans of Rarity and AJ.

 

Dropping them means no more mane 6, two elements of harmony missing, no Unicorn role now. And most importantly the fact that both are two amazing charactors.

 

Heck they may fall on my 5th and 6th slots, but I still find them interesting characters and great made characters who have their moments. I just like some better. But I wouldn't ever think of getting rid of them, or for that matter any character in the show, they all play a role in the show and have different aspects that fit together and make the show awesome.

 

Sorry but I am highly opposed to the removal of any of the characters of the show. Besides it won't happen, still the idea being brought up kinda.. Frustrates me a bit, and I'm not even a hardcore fan of either, but i still love each character for different reasons, the show would never be the same without one of the characters.

This wouldn't happen. Just because they're the LEAST popular doesn't mean that they're not loved by the fans. As a matter of fact, Rarity and Applejack happen to share the honour of being my daughter's favourite characters. When I was in school, everybody's favourite Powerpuff Girl was Blossom, but they didn't write out Buttercup and Bubbles because of it. It wouldn't make any sense. All shows have more and less popular characters - that's normal and okay. Don't forget that the show's number one focus is on selling toys to young girls and while that's still happening, they're most likely not going to remove a third of the mane 6

I have a theory that AJ and Rarity and Rainbow Dash would just be replaced by their sisters/adopted sister Applebloom, Sweetie Bell and Scootaloo, and would come to embody their sister's elements as their own, finally realizing that the only reason they never got their cutie marks was that they were supposed to replace the three that would fall to the evil that is Chrysalis in the battle for a free Equestria.

I like applejack, one of the first characters I liked in the show. I don't think Hasbro will do something stupid like that. They can cease fighting is magic, but this will never happen. They gotta sell the toys'ya know.

I don't think that will happen. Now I will admit that Rarity is not my top favorite character, but I still enjoy her episodes and she is probably that best singer out of the 6. It would be a wast to get rid of such a good singer in the show.

 

As for Applejack, I know her episodes have not been good as of late, but I still have hope that they can make a good AJ episode.

Like many have already said, it would screw up balance and dynamics between the main characters(especially since Rarity is the only unicorn now). And it doesn't help that Rarity in particular is one of my favorites, this decision would royally piss me off, as well as piss off the legion of Rarity and AJ fanboys as well as the rest of the brony fandom

Vague sports references aside, this would be the prime and most extreme example of fixing something that isn't broken. If they drop a main character just like *that* with no extremely promising plan to replace them, it's going to go to shit.

 

It's like when Kes' character from Star Trek: Voyager was dropped and Jeri Ryan replaced her with Seven of Nine... except this swap actually helped that series out tremendously as Seven's character was not only intriguing, but you could really feel for it.

 

With Applejack and Rarity, though? You need to remember that they're more than just loved -- they're special icons. They'd be impossible to replace, in essence. It'd be like the Packers releasing Aaron Rodgers. *cough* @@Crispy *cough*

There's no logical reason they would remove them from the show. Even if they are less popular than the others, it would make no sense in terms of the story, and I just don't see how they could get around that even if they wanted to. Besides, less ponies means less different toys they can sell.
