I found a pretty interesting fact about Discord being Starswirl. Look, in the episode "Three's a crowd" what if Discord didn't want to just annoy Twilight and ruin her day but actually keeping her distracted from discovering her true identity. Look: that day, she was headed to a Starswirl's temporary museum and being smart she is the one pony who is the most likely capable of bringing the evidence together. Maybe at this day, the museum had somethig what could give the last puzzle piece and reveal who Starswirl became, like an Alicorn-only-comrehensible-ancient-language-written-diary which she knows or some other thing. So, to me, Discord, fearing that Twilight could discover the secret keeped her as far as possible the entire day. Why didn't she figured out before? Simply a lack of info and common sence. Realy, how her most adored magician could be a wicked crazy chaos draconequus? She would not even consider or thought about it....

The other reason why he would do that could be that he just don´t want a fangirl pestering him with nerdy questions about High Thaumographics all the time - no doubt, that is what Twilight would do if she found out Discord was Starswirl (Unless, of course, she thinks it is a prank made up by him. Which is what I will think if that is ever revealed in the show.)

I don´t think it would destroy the image she has of her idol, I think it would just reassure her that Discord/ex-Starswirl needs to be reformed. She doesn´t have a problem with Luna having been Nightmare Moon, after all. But of course, does Discord know that?

 

The other reason why he would do that could be that he just don´t want a fangirl pestering him with nerdy questions about High Thaumographics all the time - no doubt, that is what Twilight would do if she found out Discord was Starswirl (Unless, of course, she thinks it is a prank made up by him. Which is what I will think if that is ever revealed in the show.)

Maybe there was an artifact that is the source of his powers, acting like a lock or something and activated only by alicorn magic. Maybe there was his secret diary or journal that quote about the spells and experiments who turned him into Draconequus or just potentialy dangerous. Knowing the curious nature of Twilight, she would try and Discord don't want her to be a draconequus because he want to be the only one, or he doesn't want her to ruin her life and loose friends or else. You know, Starswirl's spells from what I saw are very vague and not quite self-exlainatory (look the twilight becoming alicorn episode spell). About Nightmare moon and Luna, Twiligh find about her existence and delivered her in a day or two. But Starswirl is her idol since a long time and she encountered Discord on many occasions. That time he betrayed them all, and sent her to the end of Equestria, and brought a green goo to the party...

Discord is best pony. Even if he's not technically a pony.  He is amazing and I hope to get a Discord hoodie. and his character development is amazing. especially in Twilights Kingdom part 2.

Discord is hands down my favorite MLP character and he is definitely in my top 5 favorite characters in general! He reminds me of Genie from Aladdin but with Q's behavior and mannerisms. And John de Lancie truly makes Discord come alive with the energy and heart he puts into his recordings. You can really tell he enjoys every second of it! I always look forward to seeing an episode with Discord in it, because I know it will be chaotic and enjoyable!

I looove Discord! He's soooo awesome, funny, and he's a very original and quirky character. I love his look, too, and the way he kind of changes into a reluctant ally to the ponies. Discord is one of my favourite characters in the series, I wish there was more merchandise of him

Discord is my second favorite character out of the whole show. I have always loved him. Even when he was being his evil self. Fluttershy sets him straight, which is perfect because she is my favorite character out of the main 6 and show! He's great.

But I don't get it. If her cutymark (moon) appeared before, and Discord put a stain on it, why we can still see the cutymark? I though like the cutymark is just some hairs who get colored, not an image projected on the butt no matter how dirty it is (this phrase sounds strange if out of context). Soooo, either Discord painted the cutymark untop of the black paint, or just very carefully painted around, or just there is no logic in this art...
