In my experience, it's misunderstood at best. I am often derided for being an introvert and not really wanting to go out or be social. That has never been my thing, nor will it ever be.

There is still a noticeable amount of negativity towards the introverted. I haven't seen it shown in a positive light very often and many of us are judged... and quite harshly.
