movies/tv Least favourite spongebob episodes (Hillenburg Era)

As most will agree, the Hillenburg era (seasons 1-3) was the time when spongebob was at his prime but are there any episodes from this era you dislike?

Mine would be Naughty Nautical Neighbours. Episodes with Spongebob and Patrick fighting tend to be hit and miss for me and I thought this was definetly a miss as I did not find it that funny.

I watched a lot of Spongebob when I was younger. I didn't like the Atlantis one, where they find that coin or something and they go on a journey to Atlantis, I thought it was horribly planned. I'm not sure if it was the Hilleburg Era, though. But I have to admit - Spongebob was the greatest seasons 1-3.

I don't like the new graphics, they are horrible. They only used them for the new Christmas special, and that was it, so I guess they got bad feedback from people other than myself.

Pranks a Lot: Nothing memorable about it as far as jokes go, and the story is wrong on so many levels. It's the only episode in Stephen Hillenburg I actually hate and I'm still trying to wipe it from my memory

Though I also don't like "The Sponge who Could Fly"(considering how much Nick hyped it), or "Mermaid Man And Barnacle Boy IV", but at least those had memorable and funny moments like the Walk Cycle or Patrick's Wumbo scene

I pretty much enjoy all of the episodes from the Hillenburg era. Granted, I think season one was a bit dry in comparison to 2 and 3, but it was still good.

The worst episodes from the Hillenburg era are still better than the best episodes from season 4 and onwards.

I never liked MuscleBob BuffPants. Just never did. Some of the jokes in there were just too bad for me to take. I suppose the came could be said of Ripped Pants, but at least that had a catchy musical number.

The Sponge Who Could Fly was actually incredibly disappointing.

Grandma kisses is the only episode from the Hillenburg Era I hate. I didn't like the way Grandma was giving Patrick the grandson treatment even though they are not related and the fact that she was keeping everything "baby" related from Spongebob. I saw that as peer pressure.

Atlantis Squarepantis and The Sponge Who Could Fly were by far the most over hyped and very disappointing episodes to me. They were hyped to be very good but, when you saw the actual episode it was really a downward spiral of wasting time.

This one. I think it was the last one to come out before the movie, which was the last Stephen Hillenburg helmed Spongebob project. The longer episode formats just don't work very well with Spongebob.

Yeah, The sponge who could fly was kind of a fail for me, It wasnt bad it was just boring episode especially with all the hype of being a lost episode.

It's hard to pick one from the Hillenburg Era that I dislike. Even at its weakest, it got a chuckle out of me.

If I absolutely had to pick one, it'd be Pranks A Lot, mostly because there's nothing at all memorable about that episode.

But the worst that Hillenburg could poasibly serve up pales in comparison to an average episode of the new stuff. F***ing splinter...

I would have to say that my least favorite episode would be The Sponge Who Could Fly. I did like some of it but most of it seemed boring. I did watch some of the newer episodes when I was younger and I did notice that the quality of the episodes was going down every time they released a new one. There where some funny moments but now its just going to the deep end. I thought that the sponge who could fly was a season 4 episode because I did not really like it that much. Since some people were talking about the Atlantis episode so I will just say that that episode was a disappointment and I can say the same thing for many other longer episode specials.

I agree with most others here in saying that even the worst Hillenburg episodes are better than most of the garbage from season 4 onward. The Sponge Who Could Fly more than likely gets my vote as well. I just do not have anything good to say about it, which is unlike every other episode of that era.

I'm not fond of I Was A Teenage Gary and Dumped. The former just puts me off with its weak story telling and that transformation, while the latter has Patrick written rather smugly. Admittedly, both are still re-watchable, but I still dislike having to put up with these flaws.

I found some episodes to be horribly boring.  Even when I was younger, I felt they could have done so much more with certain plots.  "The Sponge Who Could Fly" was immensely dull and the fact that it was hyped to the heavens made it even worse.    "Mermaidman and Barnacle Boy IV" was also too boring because it mainly consisted of the citizens getting shrunk by a panicking Spongebob....and that's basically it.  Nothing really happened before or afterward to make it memorable.  There's also "The Great Snail Race", which can easily be compared to certain modern Spongebob episodes.  Most of the jokes weren't funny, unless of course you find Spongebob treating his beloved pet snail like crap to be hilarious.  Kind of puts "Dumped" in a different perspective if it had aired soon after "The Great Snail Race".

I can forgive all of those clunkers because at least seasons 1, 2, and 3 never came out with anything as bad as "One Coarse Meal".

This episode made me cry when I was little tbh. I'm super close to my grandma and I totally understood Spongebob.

I hated the episode where Sandy goes back to Texas cause it scared me, lol.

I'm usually fond of anything from the Hillenburg Era, but I dislike I'm With Stupid or The Great Snail Race. I'm With Stupid got way too mean spirited, and the ending always confused the heck out of me, and The Great Snail Race was comparable to stuff like A Pal for Gary and Pet Sitter Patrick (though it has more redeeming qualities than those two :P)
