Does Fluttershy Have A History With Dragons?

It's about time I actually make a thread about the show rather than another thread defending season 3.

 

So we all know that Fluttershy is terrified of dragons. She has no problem with baby dragons, but she's afraid of  huge, gigantic, terrifying, enormous, teeth-gnashing, sharp-scale-having, horn-wearing, smoke-snoring, could-eat-a-pony-in-one-bite, totally all-grown-up dragons. 

 

Is there a reason that she's afraid of dragons? Could it have something to do with her past? Will we ever find out?

 

If you ask me, that would make a pretty cool episode. I'm not creative enough to come up with a good title so I'll just call it "Dragonshy 2" for now.

 

I don't know what the plot would be, but in the episode, we would learn about her past with dragons. Maybe she would visit the dragon kingdom or whatever it's called. Maybe Spike could be involved in the episode to. It could be a Fluttershy/Spike episode. 

 

So what do you think? Does Fluttershy have horrible past events that caused her to fear dragons? Or is she just afraid of them for a simpler reason?

I think she is just afraid of them because of her nature. Some people, or should I say, ponies are just naturally scared if some things.

 

Maybe though, when she was a filly, a dragon took her family away and that is why she fears them. This would also explain her lack of family. But this is a bit dark, so I doubt it.

I think Fluttershy is just scared of them because they're big,scaly,generally terrifying,and can easily incinerate any and all living things they please. ._.

 

Honestly,I would be scared of dragons too if they actually existed.

 That sounds like a fantastic idea! I'm pretty bad when it comes to naming episodes too; the best I can think of is 'Dragonshy's Past.'  But I do have to add, in response to everyone saying that she's scared of them because of how intimidating they are, why wasn't she afraid of the Manticore? It was pretty intimidating too...

I think Fluttershy does have a history with dragons.

 

Maybe when she was a filly, dragons took over and took her parents away. I guess that is why she is so terrified of huge dragons but not small dragons like Spike.

I'm pretty bad when it comes to naming episodes too; the best I can think of is 'Dragonshy's Past.'  But I do have to add, in response to everyone saying that she's scared of them because of how intimidating they are, why wasn't she afraid of the Manticore? It was pretty intimidating too...

Well,she lives near the Everfree Forest where Manticores (or at least a single Manticore) roam about.She probably got used to 'em after living near there for so long.

 

Also,I say that the episode should be called "Dragonshy 2: Electric Boogaloo".

Knowing Fluttershy's temperament, she's probably simply intimidated by an adult dragon (For good reason, they're huge and can breathe fire, who wouldn't find that intimidating?), but can relate to baby dragons like Spike thanks to the difference in size.

 

Based on "Dragonshy," she does have some experience at least seeing adult dragons, since they intimidate her, but beyond that is anyone's guess. She clearly will stand up to one if she has to, but she probably doesn't make a habit of it.

It just seems like Fluttershy being Fluttershy to me, yeah it is possible she might have had a past encounter with dragons that contributed to it but I think she would be afraid of dragons regardless. The adults dragons shown so far are huge, can breath fire and are vicious and cruel. Fluttershy is not afraid of baby dragons because they are judging by Spike pretty cute and are probably harmless.

Fluttershy was probably just read a story about dragons that scared her. Besides ponies are superstious and cowardly creatures by nature, Fluttershy even more so.

When you have someone as cowardly and shy as Fluttershy, they are bound to be frightened of dragons. It just seems natural to me. No particular past.

Yes, she was once locked in an epic struggle with Trogdor.

 

 It's probably just another symptom of Fluttershy's incredibly timid nature. It's not due to anything specific, at least not anything specific that I can think of off the top of my head.

I think she's mostly afraid of them, because it's part of her nature to be afraid of things.

 

If she does have a past with dragons, that would make a good episode, but I don't think she does.

Given the pony to dragon size

and also in taking that dragons would

be meat eaters and also the natural born

natural instincts say of a pony,   even

if they are like the MLP i would

be  freaking scared out of my mind!

 

I personal do not think Flutter has

a history with dragons but in her

friends/herd were in danger it

was more of mind over matter

type of deal when it came to her

actions with the dragon.

It could go either way if you me. There could have been an event in Fluttershys life that made her afraid of dragons or it could just be she is afraid of dragons, because they have more destructive power. 

 

If they do make a back story about it, I would say it interesting to look at. But I'm pretty sure it wont involve her going to a Kingdom of dragons. I don't see dragons getting along well or be able to run a kingdom of their own.

Well I think that she is naturally afraid of them. Similar how there are things that may scare someone form unknown reasons.

Now those implying about Fluttershy not being scared about other creatures, well what about the Hydra.

The Hydra is big, scaly, almost similar to a dragon in sme cultures. And she was afraid of it. So no Fluttershy isn't somepony that I fearless against all creatures.

Or Cerberus, for that matter. 

 

Some of the dialog in Dragonshy did seem to indicate that she was afraid of big adult dragons in *particular*.  Plus if it's due to her cowardly nature in general- again, how does she face down a manticore or Cerberus? 

 

So yeah, I'd like to see some kind of flashback/history regarding this.
