As a result, they have made a petition to send to Hasbro about it. Anypony on here who wants to sign it to support dear Derpy, then sign right here and up those numbers, bronies! Heck, sign the other nicer-worded petition over here too! Yes, TWO petitions for our favourite derpy pegasus <3 if you want further support (and a reason to get some pony swag) then you can ALSO buy a sweet Derpy T-shirt from WeLoveFine to show even more support, before Hasbro might take it down as one of their measures. Or at least, punch the fanbase where they know it will hurt and receive an extreme reaction out of it. If there *are* fans of the show who were offended of Derpy, well, that's just sad. That would be truly disappointing, Derpy was and is the epitome of giving a fanbase a big nod/recognition, to back away from that just seems silly, especially if you think about the whole process of getting a scene like that through production, getting clearance, establishing that character for tens of thousands of people as the Derpy they imagined. What, did a few stuck up parents call Hasbro? Is there such an extreme backlash against the name that it requires a change all of a sudden? I dont see it... I hope it's just a bad rumor... I actually hope it is too, Bronyville are still verifying it and they're the ones who started the petition so hopefully, if it is a nasty rumour and nothing comes out of it, we're good and the petition won't be necessary. This is more or less a precautionary measure from Bronyville if anything, I mean, we haven't HEARD anything from Hasbro officially. Maybe we should just chill, maybe if we bring too much attention to this it might send the wrong message. We don't want to look aggressive and unappreciative, we just want to show that we're not at all offended by Derpy and that we love her. Hell we MADE the name Derpy, how could we? Anyways, I don't really care much about Derpy, what she is called, or even how she is portrayed, so it doesn't really matter to me if they do change the name. (Since I don't even like the name Derpy in the first place. It doesn't sound like a pony name. But if that's what she's called, it's what she's called.) Until i see more confirmation i'll just wait and see. Both Hasbro and the show staff have made a joint decision to go for it, i dont see them pulling back that easily. If there was a media frenzy going on, perhaps there'd be some truth to it. But i see no clear signs despite a vocal few who try to make a problem out of thin air. God damn political correctness is ruining the U.S. People are too oversensitive to little, insignificant crap these days. Newsflash: everything that is said, written, filmed, whatever can and will be interpreted the wrong way by someone at some point. Just because 1 person is offended doesn't mean we go back rewrite the history books so they're placated and the offense never happens. (entering tangent zone) It's because our court system is a freaking joke and a disgrace. Anyone can sue anyone for anything. If they lose, they just have to pay the extravagant lawyer fees. America needs to PENALIZE and PUNISH plaintiffs who lose they suits the bring up. If that happened, there would be less incentive to sue, lawyers would receive less work and lower their fees, and the courts won't get tied up with this petty crap when they should be spending their time working on lawsuits and cases that really matter. Yeah, I pretty much went off-topic but this (potential) renaming Derpy because a vocal minority has sticks jammed up their arses ticks me off. I agree completely, there's this weird obsession developing in the past several years for people demanding to be offended on the grounds of other people to try and become martyrs for a perceived offence and generally just whine about things because MY OPINION MATTERS. The fact that this is an issue seems to suggest that Hasbro intends to do more uses of Derpy in speaking roles.
