Zygen 6,066 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 Eh, don't worry about it, height isn't really that terribly important. I know plenty of shorter people, aswell as knowing taller people. Just be you, theres nothing to worry about. You are the height you are meant to be I guess, so your just being you, whats wrong with being you? Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! Are you male or female? Your profile doesn't say. If you are female then it's normal to be shorter. My father is around 5'3, I'm about 6ft and I'm 19, you stop growing around 18, I've got friends that are only around 5ft, don't worry about it. 5'3 isn't even that short, and potentially you could continue growing for a few more years, at a slow pace though. ~Master~ Button Mash 2,307 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 (edited) I'm about 5'8" on a good day (other days I'm somewhere in between that and 5'7"), and even though that is closer to the national average, I'm still considered "short." Not to mention there seems to be an exceptional number of tall people on campus, so I look shorter by comparison. Getting taller is actually one of the main focuses of my workout and diet routine. I take the amino-acid "L-Arginine," which helps your body produce more HGH, plus it's just good for working out because it helps blood flow. I also do some of these exercises, especially hanging from a bar. It helps decompress the spine and better your posture (one of my biggest problems). Core exercises in general also help posture, too, which helps you stand taller. http://www.walktallshoes.com/grow-taller-exercises.html Plus, just make sure you get your vitamins as well as plenty of sleep. Be healthy! You might be lucky and be someone whose growth plates stay open late, like Scottie Pippen. And if not, then so what? Confidence is more important than height any day. Confidence is the key to pretty much everything. Plus, just get in the best shape you can to compliment your body. Modphase 1,271 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 Think of it this way. Angus Young, one of the best guitarists alive, and a rock and roll celebrity, is only 5'2". Though it may seem that tall people have an advantage, and sometimes that's true, it doesn't matter much in the long run.
BronyWithRage 26 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 (edited) Big deal. Rey Mysterio is 5 foot 4. He's still a legend at what he does. People like to act like shortness is such a disadvantage, but I don't actually think it is. The weightlifter who is short has to lift his weight less. What makes you worry about it so much? Lewis the Brony 110 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 You don't have to worry about your height. Sure, having a big height might scare off some of the possible bullies but as long as you take some self-defense courses, then you should be okay, even if your short. As for my height, I'm currently a 5'7", my mom thinks I keep getting taller when I'm actually not. Hey, who said I can't have an opinion?
Acoustic Cloud 2,202 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 (edited) Well, I'm a somewhere over 6 foot, I'm taller than some, and shorter than most where I live. Don't feel to bad, I know a bunch of people in the 5'-5' 5" range. Edited April 3, 2013 by Rainbow Dashey
CastletonSnob 3,074 April 3, 2013 Author Share April 3, 2013 Thanks guys. So, could I grow a few more inches, or am I done with my growing? Because I've been told men stop growing at 22-25, is that true?
Shanks 10,816 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 So, could I grow a few more inches, or am I done with my growing? Because I've been told men stop growing at 22-25, is that true? Yes and no, that is when bones stop growing but I doubt that is what you actually want to know. As for when someone stop getting taller it is usually before the 22-25 age range you have given but that late is not entirely unheard of. I reached my maximum height of 6 ft around 17 or 18 if I remember correctly. If I had to take my guess I would probably say the average would be between 18-20 years old but since everyone is different and it depends on many factors like testosterone levels, genetics and sometimes diet I can't give an exact number. A Glimpse of Everything 129 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 One of my closest friends is 13 and only 4'5". I'm 13 and I'm 5'11". We've a rather large height difference. Anyhow, it doesn't matter. There's nothing too great about being tall to begin with. 1 Signature made by me. ^-^ Ask Discord thread!: http://mlpforums.com/topic/52658-ask-discord/ "James Bond wasn't given an awesome name... ~Chaotic Fireball~ 499 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 When I saw that title, I was like "Oh my gosh. I know how you feel, bro." When I read the post, however, I kinda realised it was different with you, however, since you said that you're 20. 5'3 isn't too bad, I have cousins who are shorter. If you're a guy, then you might seem a little strangely short to other people, but short girls are quite common. I have a 25 year old girl cousin who's around your height, maybe a bit taller or shorter. I myself am still growing, being 14 and all, but while most of my classmates have hit their growth spurts ages ago, I'm still so short and puny compared to them. And because of this, even though I'm the same age as they are, they keep stuff from me, saying that I'm 'too young to see it' or whatever, since I'm like the height of an 8 year old. there are some short people in my family on my dad's side, and some tall ones on my mom's side, so maybe I'll get taller, but are you sure that you've stopped growing completely? You might get a random last growth spurt before you turn 21, my mom says you officially stop growing when you turn 21. Fhaolan 4,483 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 Thanks guys. So, could I grow a few more inches, or am I done with my growing? Because I've been told men stop growing at 22-25, is that true? Technically. However, I'm 45 and about two-three years ago I 'grew' an inch and a half in height. I put grew in quotes because it's not really growth as such. I made some changes to my lifestyle which exercised the muscles in my back more, straightening my spine further and causing the 'disks' in my spine to be less compressed. Basically I reached the height I *should* have been.
CastletonSnob 3,074 April 3, 2013 Author Share April 3, 2013 Well, I DID grow a half-inch in the last six months, so I guess I could grow another inch or two. Who can say, really? I'm not saying I expect to become 6' overnight. I'd be happy 5'4-5'5.
~Master~ Button Mash 2,307 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 (edited) I'm about 5'8" on a good day........... a good day? Good day usually means when I have my best posture and stand the tallest. I'm still in the process of making having better posture a habit (plus I'm still working on strengthening my core) so some days I carry myself better than others. Anyway, yeah, core strength is key to standing your tallest. Strong muscles help decompress and straighten the spine. Plus, having a healthy spine is just a good thing to have, whether you're seeking to be taller or not. stainesbrony 219 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 You know that an average BMI (body mass index) is between 20 and 24.9, my BMI is 14. In other words, I'm very much underweight. Also, I'm about 1.6 metres tall. I think that's 5'3. STOP READING THIS SIGNATURE! THIS IS AN ONLINE FORUM, NOT A LIBRARY! My main OC is Rick.
