Scootaloo Dash 7 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 I was on the computer today and I found several scientists that are working on giving people wings. Here is one page: http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2002/mar/11/health.lifeandhealth I don't know how reliable the source is, but if it is true would you have surgery to get wings even if you couldn't fly. I know I would.

Lewis the Brony 110 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 (edited) Hahahaha... Remember Leonardo da Vinci? One time, he proposed on making wings for humans to fly, but however, unfortunately, a pair of wings will never work on us. Sure, technology has been improved overtime since the 1500s, but were too heavy for wings. We're heavy, and it will probably not do anything else but falling down on our faces. So, we can never artificially fly, we aren't lightweight as birds. Same goes to an emu, an emu is too heavy so it can't fly even though it could fly before, but has evolved into a flightless bird. All in all, remember, in order to fly, we have to be light. Humans are heavy beings. We can never fly. Edited April 3, 2013 by Lewis the Brony 2 Hey, who said I can't have an opinion? Orca 8 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 Eh, depending on the size of the wings I could see them being caught on things and being damaged very easily. I don't think that would be worth it, if you couldn't even use them for anything.

~Chaotic Fireball~ 499 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 AWESOME! Yet freaky. It's like the Pony Hypnotisition thing. Only worse. My dad told me that plastic surgery can go VERY wrong sometimes, and I would hate to mess up my brain or my body's normal pattern, even though I want to be a pegasus so badly. I'm sorry, but I could just never do it, unless this thing is actually guaranteed safe. 1 "Mama told me not to waste my life, she said spread your wings my little butterfly. Nightfall 3,950 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 Thanks for replying. Would you get wings if you could? I know i will I will be just like Rainbow Dash, sleeping in the clouds all day. Although no human would be able to fly, they would resemble angels and have full sensation in their new hanging, boned flaps of flesh. Maybe I would get wings, just because it would be cool to have them, but I almost question why if we can't fly with them... It seems almost a waste. Mand'alor Dash 2,224 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 Seems everyone's getting wings these days. Thanks, M.A. Larson! Also, not sure you'd qualify as a pegasus in this case. Probably more like Hawkman, or that guy from X-men 3. A pegasus refers to a creature from Greek mythology, literally a winged horse. Amoral cynic with a bitchin' vocabulary. Lewis the Brony 110 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 I want wings! I could fly and stuff. In all reality, this would be very expensive; I doubt most people could afford it. So it's a no go for me ;A; And physics and weight would be working against us. It will just be a failed product. So, I'm pretty sure its going to be vapor stuff. ~Master~ Button Mash 2,307 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 (edited) I can see how tails might have a foreseeable benefit, but non-functioning wings? Seems like a waste, to me. I want wings just as much as the next guy, but I want something functional, which sadly isn't possible. Plus they would probably get in the way on a daily basis. Black Cloud 73 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 (edited) Id totally pay the money to get the procedure done if the wings worked. It would be awesome to have your own set of wings. They still come with downfalls but ill just have to live with it Edited April 3, 2013 by Black Cloud RP: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/black-cloud-r1518
NavelColt 22,880 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 Even though this can be called 'people becoming pegasi', this has no direct link to bronies, and I'm thus moving it over to General Discussion.
Scootalove 10,689 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 I will definitely pay forward, if the wings are tested and are ready for human use. Then, I guess I would enjoy being a pegasus. 1 Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules
Descant 1,897 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 Seriously, though, I might have to go through with it. Are they going to be disgusting wings covered with skin, or awesome feathery wings? If they're skin-covered, they'd just be ugly. 3 Find the Heart of the Jungle! Still searching for players! Join today! OOC RP
~Master~ Button Mash 2,307 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 On another note, there's another way to become "like a Pegasus" which already exists, it's the wingsuit. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wingsuit_flying For just 200 dives and the cost of the suit, you can fly fall with style. Probably cheaper than the surgery, anyway. Follow me on Tumblr! http://stratosthestallion.tumblr.com
Matt loves Luna 16 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 I might actually be crazy enough to get that surgery, just so I can look like an archangel. (I'll bet it's going to be way too expensive for me to afford, though).
Shift 4,272 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 If it's feathery wings, why not. If it's skinned wings, ugh, leave me out of this. Well, who knows, we might be able to fly one day. Betez 1,734 April 4, 2013 Share April 4, 2013 Maybe. It certainly sounds cool, but I don't really know if I'd want to have wings for the rest of my life. Plus, it'll probably take scientists a while before they master the surgery My OC Stay pony my friends"And ALWAYS remember...to never forget." - Someone who I'm sure has said this before I did

Wingnut 6,991 April 4, 2013 Share April 4, 2013 Cartoon ponies can lift ten times their own weight with ease. Pinkie Pie has enough horsepower in her lower extremities to operate a one pony mini-copter. And pegasi, who appear to be as solid and heavy as other kinds of ponies, are able to fly harder and faster than lightweight birds. It's one thing to get wings from surgery. If they can't provide us with the superhuman strength needed to use them, then what's the point?
Sugarcube 213 April 4, 2013 Share April 4, 2013 We can't fly with wings, birds who do fly have hollow light bones, birds who don't fly have solid heavy bones. It just won't happen, if we ever did gain the ability to fly it would be thousands and thousands of years down the line ans there would have to be a evolutionary need for our bodies to change as drastically as they would have to in order for us to be capable of flight. This sounds in all honesty, to me, risky and strange. The science behind it is pretty interesting about how our bodies adjust to accept losses of limbs and adapts to artificial limbs. Dr. Nefarious 195 April 5, 2013 Share April 5, 2013 If this does happen and it does actually work I could see it costing over 800,000$. Maybe even in the millions. I mean, come on, surgeries cost plenty of money and a surgery that will give you FUCKING WINGS. It has to be expensive for sure. CALL AN AMBERLAMPS! I NEED AN AMBERLAMPS!
