Tip: Get the pitchfork, and carry squash and potayto mine at the stage 1. Plant as many sunflower and double sunflower as many and as fast as you can while not killing the zombie until they reached the 3rd from the last row.

 

That way, when they start to come in hordes, you will have at least three double sunflower and 2 row full of the regular ones. Zombies spawn's regulated from their dying friend, the longer you delayed not killing them, the longer preparing phase you got. Always put down the double sunflower as soon as their cooldown finished

 

Oh, and if things went as planned, at the end of the 2nd flag, you will have about five double sunflower

i've always planted a double row of sunflowers, gradually upgrading them to double ones. i've always used potato mines to sway the first few zombies, but i never actually thought about using more passive weapons to save on power.so should i focus ALL sun power on sun flowers until a set point?

One of the reason why I love to spam winter melon is because the slow down every fucking thing, including the stages itself.

Slower stage = more suns at the end

okay, so, how many rows of sunflower should i have? shall i even use them on night stages? and what other items would you recommend to use, not only on the first stage, but the other ones?

Everything depends on how fast you can handle the stuff, the map type, and how do you like taking risk

 

For the 1st and 2nd flag, I spammed the sunflower until I got three rows of them. Double sunflowers are planted as often as possible. Of course only plant them on the 1st and 2nd row. The third row is just for extras and it's very expendable.

 

I use the mine and the squash whenever a zombie wandered too near. All those suns churned out can be very overwhelming when you also have to take care of the zombies, beware. At the end of the 2nd flag or when I'm satisfied, I will destroy the third row of the sunflowers to give room for more offensive plants.

 

For the offensive plants, it's pretty much up to you. But try to prioritize planting the upgrade plant first, their cooldowns are fuckishly long. The sooner you have more of them, the better.

 

Oh, and cob cannon is shit in any survival modes other than endless. Do not use it.

 

For the wall-type plants, take out the tall-nut and the white-dopier-thing-that-I-forgot-the-name to speed up your wall. Those extra sun from the earlier phase should be enough for you to afford losing some tall-nut, don't panic when one is dying. Spikeweed can do wonders when planted right in front of a tall-nut. They deals area damage to all zombies who are chewing on the nut, not to mention damn cheap.

The OP's questions from both threads are pretty much the same, I already reported it like one hour ago, and seems like it was ignored or lost during the process. There, I posted it here instead of reporting it again because I know some of you mods (other than Scootacool ofc) patrolled this thread instead of doing the same thing to the much more important subforums out there. So if any of you read the message, then do the world a favor and do your job. Whatever. Give me another backseat modding warning points if that means you won't have another hissy fit. Or maybe pull out some rules that is never written anywhere to smack me, just like what you guys did weeks ago. See if I care.
