It wasn't. Now unless you have something serious to contribute, don't.

Perhaps if you wanted to add some emotional baggage to Celestia to help her relate to the rest of the characters, you could have something traumatic happen to her because of the corruption, perhaps the death of Luna. She is obviously a collected and wise individual, but death has a toll.
