There was this one fic I read last night (not disclosing the details), several different songs I listened to made by the same composer (Korean composer that starts with "Yirum" and ends with "iruma"), and me thinking about my characters under the tone of those same songs. Somehow, something happened and I have no idea what. There was a party involved as some sort of beachfront high-rise, and Rainbow Dash isolated from the rest of the group.

sounds like the way my dream happened. I remember now that I had been reading "Black & White" the evening before my Lyra dream.

It's not branded as a jrpg so why would people assume it is? That's like if people complained that TF2 wasn't a gritty realistic shooter, it never was intended to be that so why compare them? and no Red an Blue were not the best, they were broken as all hell.

Not to mention a vast majority of the Pokemon sprites were incorrect or just ugly...

I personally enjoy Generation I for the glitches and oddities. I think seeing glitched-out trainers sending out incoherent, glitched Pokémon is a source of amusement. Catching said glitches, however, can have varying effects. We all know Missingno duplicates the 6th item slot by 128, up to 255.

 

What some don't know, a couple of those glitches can really mess the game up. Like, load up the game and see the only option when starting is "NEW GAME." For instance, shuffling Ditto's moves when you move them whilst it's transformed teaches it a game-destroying glitch attack called COOLTRAINER. It's interesting, in a tech standpoint how these Pokémon glitches in Gen I work.

You can't 'brand' a game genre, it's decided upon it's mechanics. You either haven't been gaming long enough, or you don't understand game design at all.

As for the shall I say OCD nitpicks of Red and Blue, it doesn't change the tone, story, challenge, dialogue, locations, better overall quality of the pokemon roster, soundtrack and many other things that made it better than the absurd number of lazy sequels.

1. I've never considered Pokemon a JRPG, infact it is one of the few RPGs that comes out of Japan that I can actually play. JRPGs are nothing but grinding and the same storyline everydamn time. World is ending better go find me some 4 elemental crystals and a metrosexual blonde guy over compensating with a sword the size of the Empire State Building. Pokemon isn't about the mechanics it's about the adventure. I take my 6 favorite Pokemon of each Generation and beat the shit out of every trainer I meet, boom simple as that.

 

2. All the sequels are lazy?! That tells me one thing, you have never played them. Plain and simple.
