I don't Tekkit because of its controversial nature; Many of the mods included in it were added without authorisation with the mod authors, and today there's still controversy over it.

 

FTB Modpack's better in that it's more whole and that it has better customisability than Technic did. And it's fully endorsed and authorised.

I had not heard of Feed the Beast. I guess I could check it out. See, another reason I like Tekkit: the Yogscast are all over it. I like them. They're funny.

I had not heard of Feed the Beast. I guess I could check it out. See, another reason I like Tekkit: the Yogscast are all over it. I like them. They're funny.

As a person who works with modding myself, I lean more towards going straight to a trusted source because it's trustable, not because the Yogscast says it's cool.

 

I ironically found about the tech mods AFTER finding out about Technic, and my first experience with Technic said to me that it was too unreliable. Direwolf20 has been making a rock-solid let's play series ever since Minecraft 1.7.3, and has been continuing to this very day.

 

Besides, Direwolf20 is nowhere near the Yogscast, but he's exactly like me: A mod tester. Plus, FTB has mods that Tekkit will never have, like Forestry. When do you ever see the actual authors in the Yogscast? My guess: Never.

Well, see, I'm not all over it just because of the Yogscast, but I do like watching them play Tekkit, and it kinda made me think there weren't any other modpacks out there. Still, it's good to hear that there are. I shall check out FTB.

I see it has a number of things I'm unfamiliar with. Do you have a recommended texture pack?

I don't even use a texture pack, but if there's one that I like, it's Faithful 32.

 

It's also worth noting that Minecraft is a lot more resource-intensive than what the low-res textures imply. It's still a crapton of models, and a lot of rendering for each block.

 

I really need to get my computer build up and running...

Fair enough. I prefer texture packs because I think the default Minecraft looks fairly crappy. In any event, thank ye.

You mean the people who fight against the ponies and force people to stay human despite what they may wish? Or something like that. I've never read anything on the matter and have absolutely no knowledge about it.

Yep, that's one of the major factions in various universes, the HLF :wacko:

 

Some of the fics can be outright misanthropic (claiming that humans are all the same dirty hateful bastards, while ponies are nice clean ones), which is why seeing the TCB Equestria getting owned is very satisfying :P
