You know, imma change to the original previous subject...somewhat. What's everypony's favorite language, what is the language you speak and are you proud to use it? I personally LOVE English, but I love speaking in any other languages as well, and would like to learn them. I speak Spanish and yes, I'm proud.

 

English is my only language; I would've learned Filipino (I'm Filipino-American), but what I was never allowed to... Strange how that actually coincides with last week's psychology class...

ummm when I joined the forums, I was afraid of other ponies finding out about my language, because I don't know, for some reason I felt like a foreigner u_u

I think anyone who has a different native language when entering another site DOES feel a little foreigner. Or sometimes not. I don't think so, because I still believe that in a past life, I was a yankee.

No, what they do is change up the alphabet, unless that's not English. Just like Bionicle; They speak English, but they have a modified 26-letter alphabet.

 

Something I always wanted to do (and have had success in the past) was to develop an alphabet, and my past attempt has had it based off of the Russian and Swedish alphabets.

Actually, I wanted to learn any language I can since I was little. Japanese got a quicker wanton because of animes, but I still wanted to lern it before then. Plus, I'd do it, to feel more at home in Japan rather than to understand animes, baka.

Good, I don't have to translate then. I'm just messing with ya. But I really do want to learn more Japanese to be better in Japan. I always find it great to feel at home in other countries, which is another reason why I love learning languages.

'Cause they thought it'd be too confusing. And no, I heard of Esperanto, but never tried it.

There's a letter called "Thorn", as in þorn, and it's the "th" digraph. Russian has an letter that corresponds to the "SH" digraph, and Spanish (and I believed it's not common anymore) considered the "CH" digraph as a single letter. And the Russians also had a letter that corresponded to that.

 

Sex. That's a number, actually. (It's Swedish for six.)

 

I had based my alphabet to be phonetic, and it relied on letters from the Russian alphabet, but since there's the "A" from "apple" and the "A" from "awful" (Which is why I pronounce "NAM" differently from all other fellow NAMites), I had to "borrow" a letter from the Swedish alphabet.

 

I feel like I should redo my alphabet now.

Move? Nah, or at least not yet (I actually can't. I'm only 18 years old! ). But it would be a great place too. But there are other countries I'd like to move first. Or at least visit. AS for how I learned English, well, my school pretty much stayed with the basics. Another little part came from going to individual classes which I'm still going because I have the FIRST Certificate exam at the end of the year. But the most came from games, fanfics, TV series and even using English in a daily basis. If I ever go to USA, I'll try to see if I trick them into believing I'm an English speaker, instead of a Spanish-speaker. Edited October 16, 2012 by Arcanel
