Crap, forgot I had to go to a friend's house. Better go now before I get my flank kicked by him. Bur before I go

But the thing is that consoles suck and limit the overall quality. :P

Nevermind the fact that you don't get to release on consoles unless you pass the sometimes idiotical limitations by the console makers.

I can understand the simplicity argument, same reason I have 360 here. But it does not make it any more logical to support console gaming.

It limits.

Gaming has become some sort of Corporate fuckfest towards underaged consumers instead being about making good games.

Look at Call of Duty.

It's rated M and the main fangroup is under 18.

No notable progress in the genre for five games now.

Most successful series of console gaming ever and TF2 is more involved, fun, and complex than CoD will be.

It's a fact, consoles get outdated immediately after release.

Consoles are built to be consoles, not to support gaming per say.

And no amount of Software upgrades will make consoles any better than they are. Hardware is what counts.

It's just the same as Drivers for Graphic cards, those get updated all the time too. Consoles do not get any "Upgrades" in the course of their lifespan.

And a decent gaming PC is about 800 plus 200 yearly to keep up to date.

You make that up easily by using Steam or any other PC exclusive distribution platform with lower prices on games.

PC is just better. Fact.

That does not make consoles bad, just the worse option to pick.

And somehow consoles have become the maximum on technical standards which IS bad. Consoles should be the ones that adapt and are ported to.

I agree completely with your points. I, in fact only fully converted into PC gaming two years ago, everything is so much better, my goodness.

For the longest time, I'd be paying ~$65.00 for endless sequels of games ad buying their overpriced "expansions", on a machine (the Xbox 360) that began running slowly, having an awful array of errors, and generally being a pain in my ass.

With the PC, combined with Steam, everything I need is all right here. It's wonderful. All you really need is a rudimentary understanding of computers and you can get yourself a nice PC and comprehend how to up-keep it.

A huge attraction for console gamers is the fact that you just plug the thing in and it works. Easy, simple, no need to understand technology.

I don't know if PC is better than console gaming or not, considering I have only (majorly) played one console comapany, Sony, and and I USED to play PC games, but that was lots of years ago. I do agree it's quite a matter of opinion, if anything. But there's two things PC ISN'T better than consoles. One is size. Forget the fact of notebooks, netbooks, laptops etc, I'm talking about the real deal, which is the better thing. Consoles have always been smaller in that regard and is better for having multiple consoles in one house. (I for example can't have a PC in my room, therefore, have consoles). And two, multiplayer. And I'm not talking about online stuff, I'm talking about the ORIGINAL multiplayer. That awesome feeling of getting friends home and having friendships made or lost, controllers smashed, consoles broken, laughs to be had, awesome "BUCK YEAH!" moments with your friend/s. Something not achievable in the PC, or at least not easily. But all in all, let's agree PC and consoles were designed for a certain public at said moments, regardless of the quality of gaming, shall we?

Considering I enjoyed a LOT when I played the PC (Most importantly, two little games called "Nitro Pack 76' Interstate and Battlezone), and I enjoy a LOT when I play in the PS1, 2, 3, Genesis, NES (the last two on very little time). PC is practical IF you can have it for what Libby said:

PC is the Mecca of gaming, PC has ALL the games.

ALL OF THEM.

But if not, that doesn't take consoles any credit away from them.

I would LOVE to get into PC gaming except I've held a controller for so long that I'm not so sure I can get into it so easily...

Unless PCs have gaming controllers of their own, in which case, sign me up

However, my laptop isn't even capable of running the internet without going to ham so I guess I'll just have to. Wait to get a new laptop

Which MAY end up being the day Hell freezes over :/

Say, what type of games do PCs have

All I've seen are just the World of Warcraft/TF2 type games

Which I am not really that into anyway

Are there any others besides those that I should know of?

I'd love to go into PC gaming, too. Problem is, I don't have the money for a good enough laptop or desktop made for PC gaming, and I'm so used to a controller, it's a little difficult for me to adjust to such a different evironment. Hell, I had a ton of problems trying to play Super Meat Boy because of the PC controls :(. The only game I can do average on with a mouse and keyboard is Amnesia: TDD.

Also, less than 20 pages 'till page 2,000. It took several months to hit 1,000, and it took a LOT less to get to 2,000

1984 is the year of George Orwell's 1984, one of three novels/books I had to read for high school that I actually enjoyed in the end. inb4 Big Brother reference.

And it's not so much a gaming chat, as it is a chat on the crap used to run it.

My laptop can't seem to run the internet without occasionally crashing :/

Don't remind me...

All this talk of computers leaves me clueless. Although, when I was younger, most of what I played was on the computer. I got my first console when I was 13. Before that, I play a multitude of computer games. Nothing too serious, but it was all I had. The computer I used was outdated even back then, but it served me well. I miss those times dearly. The computer does have a different feel compared to the console, and that's what I miss the most.

I used to play computer games much more when I was younger, mainly SimCity 4 and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. Man, I loved those games, even though SC4 crashed and bugged out some, and RCT3 was prone to lagging if there was too much scenery . Now, it's mostly me and mah trusty PS3 (Even though I'm on the laptop almost all the time).

One is size.

And two, multiplayer.

Size is kinda irrelevant, don't you think? It's kinda silly of an point to count in favor of Consoles.

Hell, I have three rigs, a jury-rigged 360 with Linux and a 360 in my apartment.

I don't think they ever "took" any space away from me.

Especially as the latest gen PC's are smaller than 360.

And gooby pls, LAN-Parties are the Original Split-Screen.

And you will never get MMO's on consoles.

It's a point against Consoles if anything.

360 pad is just an USB device. You are shooting yourself into the leg for not using a mouse tho.

ALL OF THEM.

Eh, i 've always held a controller all my life so that's just what I'm used to

As for the games

Does the PC Also Have the Ratchet and Clank series

That's pretty much the ONLY game series I miss out of my broken PS3

Skype (or if you're like me and my brother, log onto Runescape at the same time), and enough experience (and experience is relative to one's perception, therefore, we have differing opinions; Hint hint) has told me that small ain't necessarily good. As I said, I'm doing away with my potato.

As much as I love eating potatoes, I don't like computing on one.

Oh, and I don't like simple when it comes to this; I prefer puzzles, and since building a computer is a puzzle in itself,... I think you can see where I'm going with this, so Imma gonna stop here. :)

Computers have been an obsession for me ever since I got an old 1980's-era Mac handed down to me from my relatives up north. Now I'm going for broke with programming and building a rig, as I have iterated many times before.

And with you, I've had similar experiences. Every game I've ever played was on a computer, but I have never had a console. I did have a handheld: It was a Gameboy.

And how is having a limited selection of games a point in favor of consoles?

Options are always better.

Being limited is just that, a lower credit for being limited.

But wait, does it have explosive, memorable gameplay that sticks with for the rest of your life?

I could never get into SC4, it was like watching grass grow. For some reason SC3K came much more naturally to me. :/

If there's any way I could ever persuade you to think otherwise,... Well, I hail from a site (two actually) devoted to Simcity 4, but there ain't a whole lot on its predecessors. Could I at least show you a few examples of what SC4's absolute potential is?

and I'd rather have Windows 7.

Don't we all...? :P

Let me guess: Budget.

All I have in my wallet at the moment is dust, so whilst I'd love to get rid of the XP laptop that I have lovingly called Derpy, I simply can't afford to at the moment.

i've grown up with both PC and console games alike. we've had almost every version of Windows from 95 to XP (we've yet to have 7 in this house, although my school laptop has it, and my mom runs Vista on her laptop (unfortunately)), as well as consoles from the PSX and up.

both have had games that are memorable enough for me, though i think the PC wins on the side that i've played i don't know how many emulated Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, and N64 games on it, as well as great golden FPS games such as Doom, Quake II, Unreal, Half-Life, etc. that's not to say i haven't played my share of console games, though, such as Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Final Fantasy, Worms (yes i played it on a console at first), Hogs of War, Croc, Medal of Honor, etc.

PC wins because even at a standard computer you can still play tons of games on it. i think you're able to play virtually every PC game that has been made, provided that your machine can run it, no matter what its age, whereas a console can only play the set number of games that's designed to run on designated console. convenient for a guy like me who molds his lazy ass at the computer chair all day. not to say console gaming is bad, but i just find lesser enjoyment in it than gaming on a PC.

Yes, of course.

1. That reminded me of FarCry.

2. That would never work on my laptop.

3. That did look fun.

4. I doubt I will get a PC for gaming until I get a steady, ample paying job.

Crysis was made by the company that made FarCry.

It's a butt-old game that requires pretty much nothing to run at this stage.

It's better than any shooter on consoles ever had.

I got my gaming rig for a pittance, about 300, and can run Crysis 2 on full because I keep my eye's open for good deals and can ask for my friends for their old parts.

PC gaming is not expensive, it just requires more effort.

And I'd say that effort more than pays for itself.

PC is not just a gaming tool.
