I don't even know who either of those two people are! But I'm also down for that!

.................................filly, let me teach you.

Phil Collins, drummer of Genesis until the band disbanded, and is considered one of the best drummers that have touched the earth. Chester Thompson. Trusty companion and another great drummer. Was the one Genesis chose to go with in the tours whenever they had songs that were played with TWO drum sets. The very best example:

Black guy is Chester, the other is Phil. BOW DOWN TO THAT GREATNESS!

Indeed. I think I remember you saying you were a fan awhile back.

Aye. It's one of my favorite games, also because of the great soundtrack that it had.

"From First to Last" was his old band.

"From First to Last"

YOU'RE KIDDING ME?! They had my favorite song from the whole soundtrack and I've always wanted to play the song from the game in the drums!

This one is actually kinda progressive house-ish. Which is awesome. Didn't think he had it in him, honestly...

I know, right? I think that game is the reason why I have a soft spot for pop punk nowadays.

That is one of the better songs on the soundtrack, but I'm still partial to Paper Wings and Decent Days and Nights. Which are both pretty fun to play on set.

I would disagree somewhat, actually. For example, deadmau5 has pretty much said that he's done with dubstep, and he's even made fun of it openly a few times. The only reason he's made those 3 or 4 dubstep tracks in his career was because his fans wouldn't stop pleading with him to do it.

I think Joel's actually straying away from the mainstream audience, because he's sort of cutting off what a lot of people want to hear. You could argue that him producing those songs were him "caving in" to pressure, but I mean, hey. Raise Your Weapon is a pretty great song.

And then, on the other hand, Skrillex produces pretty much ONLY dubstep now, because that's what everyone wants to hear from him. He used to do electro, but now that he's known for dubstep that's what he does now.

I thought that was hilarious though, when Skrillex posted that Aphex Twin song. Flim is awesome though, our jazz quartet plays a cover of it...

i'm not sure there's much else for me to comment on, then. truthfully, i haven't listened much to either Skrillex or deadmau5's newer songs, so i'm just reciting whatever sounds sane in my head. i will admit however that i find Skrillex's music far more interesting to listen to than deadmau5's. personal preference, i guess.

The thread of general chatting...

No...it's the general chatting of the thread...

Hmmm...not bad...

Agreed. I didn't know you had played the game though.

And yeah, my soft spot is definitely the song of From First to Last. Although some of the other songs are I think on the top too, like Stay in Shadows, or my personal favorite, Radio Up.

Music wise, that was definitely out of my preferred area....

Drum wise, that was pretty bucking awesome.

Question, what song are you referring to?

Of course. Opinions are opinions.

A lot of people say Joel's music is boring and repetitive, actually. Or sometimes "it's too simple." I actually think the simplicity is what makes a lot of his songs. Again, like Raise Your Weapon. The melody only consists of a few chords on piano, but they're such... Great sounding chords that mesh so well with each other that it makes this beautiful and chilling, yet not complex melody.

Whenever people tell me that electronic musicians have no talent, I like to tell them that (I'm not saying that you did, I'm just going off on a tangent here). It does require a good bit of musical knowledge to come up with melodies like that, and since electronic music is pretty much melody driven, you need to have that to be able to pull it off.

Also, I'm loving the fact that deadmau5 is starting to go back to his old style:

simplicity doesn't have to mean shit. i'm a huge techno nerd, and techno is basically the most repetitive of electronic music you can come to. but i agree, though, that i find deadmau5' music to be a bit boring sounding. that's not to say i wouldn't buy his stuff if i ever found it in a store for a good price or something, but i have other artists that are much more preferred. i'm a pretty big fan of upbeat, for the most time, which Skrillex's music hits the right spots on. melody is cool, too.

and yes, that's one of the biggest pet peeves i have. ELECTRO REQUIRES NO TALENT. ELECTRONIC MUSIC ANYONE CAN MAKE. IT'S JUST A BUNCH OF STUFF GETTING REPEATED OVER AND OVER AGAIN. you get the idea, such kinds of silly arguments.

since you linked me to a song, i'm gonna link you to something i like:

I imagined the music wasn't going to be exactly of your liking.

But trust me, that duet is one of the best for friggin sure. I hope someday to become just as good as them.

The song is called Populace in Two, from the band me and Bluetrace mentioned before, From First to Last (I spend a long time thinking that the song was the band and viceversa  ). Here, check it out. It's one fun song to play in drums for sure.

Time for some last minute Christmas shopping.

I played the shit out of that game. It took me forever to beat the campaign, but I did it. I used to know what my record for takedowns was too, but I've since forgotten it...

As soon as I hear the names of those songs they start playing in my head. I have the whole soundtrack downloaded to my music library, heh.

Well, you'd buy pretty much any music under the sun from what I've seen, so that doesn't really surprise me...

My biggest pet peeve is when people call deadmau5 a dubstep artist. I hate that. I've seen so many people here say that too, I should make a copypasta that I could use whenever I see someone say that...

Is it just me, or does Renard use that same drum sample in every one of his songs?

he used a lot of the same drum sample in a lot of his older works under specific aliases, but he's definitely become a lot more diverse since then:

So did I! But I think it just took me a few days to finish the entire thing all in gold. I still remember when I you had to use the Formula cars...*shudders* Worst part is, I'm JUST about to finish the game 100% all I need is a few signature takedowns and a few trophy missions and that's it. ARGH! And I think my record in a Road Rage was...40, I think? I can't really remember.

And me too! I downloaded the whole thing. Fewer times I have seen a soundtrack that blended so well with the game itself. But like Square-Enix, Criterion Games knows a thing or two about music as well.

now the question is, do either I, IRL, or Viscra, look like an actual nerd?

also, i think i've found my new favorite album: http://records.sectionz.com/album/alchemist

I could see someone saying you IRL looked like one. No problem with looking like one though. No problem with being one either.

Viscra looks nothing like a nerd or any of the stereotypes with the title.

She honestly looks pretty damn cool/badass. Its her color scheme. It pure awesome and done well.

the colour-scheme and design was designed by Feather Spiral originally on my request. i just took the liberty of changing a few things with her. then Arylett several months later drew a much better representation out of the original design. honestly, i like the fact that people have re-interpreted a few of Viscra's features in their own manner. it makes her feel so much more multi-faceted than trying to make her strictly being one design to abide towards.

replacing some of my old albums on my mp3 player for some new ones. so far it's been mostly pop-punk related and high-energetic music.

I dunno. Playing Black Ops II all day, as usual. I didn't even ask for much this (Except for the BOII Season Pass for free DLC, which was $50 :P).

Anyways, what's going on in this thread?
