Hey, I know what will get us off the rage train that appears whenever people complain about pokemon!

 

 

And both sides are complaining here, so im not going to choose sides.

 

 

Let's talk about a completely different series!

Since you guys are speaking of Pokemon, I got Omega Ruby today and started playing it, not bad in my opinion. I am enjoying it a lot so far, I miss the pokemon games, the new ones resemble the old ones like Blue, Red, or Yellow from back in the day, I did play those old Game Boy Games back then. This is the first time playing the newer pokemon games though.

 

1. I've never considered Pokemon a JRPG, infact it is one of the few RPGs that comes out of Japan that I can actually play. JRPGs are nothing but grinding and the same storyline everydamn time. World is ending better go find me some 4 elemental crystals and a metrosexual blonde guy over compensating with a sword the size of the Empire State Building. Pokemon isn't about the mechanics it's about the adventure. I take my 6 favorite Pokemon of each Generation and beat the shit out of every trainer I meet, boom simple as that.

2. All the sequels are lazy?! That tells me one thing, you have never played them. Plain and simple.

 

True that. And since I know stuff, Pokemon is definitely different. I like both. xD

That was terrible, good sir, as any avid Zelda fan knows, Link is the male protagonist of the series, and the fair maiden that he must save from certain peril in most cases is the princess Zelda.

Actually Red/Blue were both shit, the entire point of sequels are to improve the games and to introduce new things, both of which the newer games have done. Stop living in the past for more than 5 seconds.

What do you mean with "quality going downhill"?

 

Precisely,the sequels improved every aspect where the original ones failed:

-The Special stat was divided into Sp.Attack and Sp.Defense,balancing A LOT of Pokemon.

-The Psychic type no longer was the powerhouse that once was(and for good reason)

-The breeding of pokemon

-Skills

-Shiny category,which increases the colecionism(well,technicaly it existed on Gen 1,but it wasn't noticeable)

-A LOT of balancing issues,like the attacks who could keep you immobile for turns.

 

I admit that Gen IV and Gen V were weaker,and I don't know about Gen 6 because I didn't played it,but the point of sequels is to balance things and to improve.

Guess what there isn't an original 151 to begin with! There were originally 190 Pokemon going to be featured in gen 1. They were pushed back to later generations.

 

Lets bring something we both like into this, anything past season 1 of mlp isn't canon. That just sound ignorant and nostalgia blind...

Fine I will admit I am a little bit butt hurt, because this is one of my favorite game series and when people bashing it i feel the need to defend it.

 

I brought up mlp as an example... you know what an example is don't you because you have yet to bring one up, all you've done is turn away from all the people responding against you with arguments and piles of exmples saying, nuh uh, the 'quality' was better 20 years ago. You say it again and again "quality" what is the quality. Also those sales are since the day they were released so you know 20 year head start, totally has nothing to do with it or anything.

 

edit: I also just realized something, you used "but I didn't think we where discussing MLP." as a counter arguement well then let's use that same tactic on you regarding your I'm not stuck in the 90's argument.so let me try: but i didn't think we were discussing PC games.

On the topic of Pokemon, I think Gen 1 are far from the best games. That said, the series as a whole is terribly repetitive with little change in the formula. It's a fantastic formula, yes, but you can only take it so far

Everyone likes what they like. If they don't like the new ones then they don't like the new ones, nothing wrong with that. We all have our opinions and it doesn't matter what others think, it's nice to have the same opinion, but not every opinion is the same.

indeed. I can think of at least one thing that we can all agree that this has happened to us about: mlp. People give us shit, yet we still defend it. Most of us do, anyways.
