Just watched Expendables 3. So much testosterone and steroids. But badass overall.

Sansho the Bailiff

A fairly entertaining "social issue" drama, but it's one-dimensional in its moralizing and isn't as aesthetically sublime as Mizoguchi's earlier Ugetsu. Kind of a letdown.

The Prince of Egypt.  I loved it as a kid, and love it even more now.  One thing I did not appreciate enough as a kid is that holy wow the characters are all actually BROWN.  Thank you Dreamworks for not making them white and vaguely english like everyone else does.

Mel Brooks presents Robin Hood: Men in Tights.

"You've got to be a man to wear tights, that's for sure." -Little Jhon

"We may look like sissies. But watch what you say or else we'll put out your lights!"

"La, la la la la la la la, la la la la la la, la la la la la, la la la la la la la!"

I seen The Congress yesterday. It was unbalanced to say the least  >_>

The first half was quite good, a nice enough little sci-fi idea with some very good performances and a decent message to it...even if it did seem that it was a bit of self aggrandizing by Robin Wright at times. The second half was animated, and the animation was really good, there were a lot of cool visuals going on, but the story really just got completely lost and any commentary or message the movie had up until that point totally disappeared and became a real mess.

Punch-Drunk Love

My third time viewing it in the last few years, and it just improves with each watch. This is the movie that every hipster indie flick wants to be, a movie where the quirks don't grate on the nerves because they don't feel tacked on - they are the movie. Some will probably find it unwatchable, but I think Paul Thomas Anderson pulls it all together in a way that borders on genius.

Runs the emotional gamut between bizarre, sad, creepy and hilarious, often within the same scene. Romantic comedies don't get any better than this.
