Should one of the mane 6 go evil(temporary)

I think it would make the show a bit more dynamic and interesting if one of the mane 6 had to be evil for a certain reason. I can only see this happening with Twilight or Rainbow Dash. Let's say Twilight needs to be Chrysalis's apprentice so she can protect her friends. Some how Chrissy found a way to drain the mane 5 and she offers an ultimatum to Twilight.

It could also be a good way to see Twilight vs Celestia, Cadence and Luna. I think it makes the heroine a bit more flawed but realistic. Twilight would do anything to protect her friends, even if that meant never seeing them again. But of course we get a happy ending in the end.

For Rainbow let's say she joins the shadow bolts

If any of them were to turn evil, I would have to say it would be Twilight.  So far, it would appear that only her, Celestia, and (obviously) King Sombra used the 'hate' magic which was the theme of the Season 3 Premiere.  Perhaps she wishes to investigate it further and it turns her evil?  Just speculating here.

They already turned evil when they went against each other in "Return of Harmony" part 1 and 2. They had already went against each other, and all hope was pretty much lost, but triumphed against Discord and became normal again. If you're thinking of a idea for a situation that would be very interesting to see if they went against the Canterlot monarchy.

I wouldn't want to see another episode where they turn on each other. I'd probably cry over the drama. XD

There's another case of a character turning evil if you read the comics, and the comics are canon (at least I consider them canon).

SPOILER.

Nightmare Rarity!

Not sure if they turned evil, with the exception of Fluttershy. They turned into jerks, but they weren't trying to destroy the world or kill people.

It probably wouldn't be explored, but I like the idea of Twilight turning to the dark side for a bit. Maybe it would give us a chance to see Celestia and Luna actually intervene in some way or would involve the other five to truly rescue Twilight for once. They've helped her many times, but usually Twilight is the one that tips the scales and goes into god mode, winning the battle and saving everyone. It'd be interesting to see how the writers could pull that off. Would they fight her, or perhaps they would abandon her, and if she isn't connected to the elements, how powerful would she actually be? Would that give the others a chance to over power her?

Not sure I'd like to see any of the others be evil, maybe a corrupted Celestia would be interesting but it'd be hard to do without recycling a bunch of stuff from the Nightmare Moon arc.

What Boop and Tex said.

Plus, don't forget about "New Fluttershy" from Putting Your Hoof Down (which can't actually be blamed on Iron Will all that much because Fluttershy's own social awkwardness obviously caused her to forget when to stop).

Depends, in the show I don't think it would really work out. However, in the more mature-audience orientated comics I suppose that could work if ONE of the characters becomes evil, but that's a really ambiguous plot arc you're talking about, Mark.

This has already happened, partially! When Fluttershy went mad... Twilight also goes crazy sometimes... And Rarity can have her moments. These aren't really evil, though. And of course there's Pinkamena... But ya know, she's fanmade evil, mostly.

But yeah, this would make am awesome episode! Dashie would make an awesome villain. To be honest, any of them turned evil is pretty cool. Somehow, I can't I imagine AJ turning evil though...

Somebody going evil doesn't by itself make them more interesting. What does make them more interesting is what led them to do so.

The best candidate for this would be Twilight, coming into contact with a dark force that turns her into something evil. It wouldn't be exactly be like Nightmare Moon, for that entity came about from the dark force playing on Luna's jealousy and loneliness. Twilight doesn't have those problems, so I think the darkness would target her perception that all of Equestria rests on her shoulders and her intense fear of failure. Perhaps she would become a magical dictator who rules with a iron hoof because she thinks the world can't look after itself. Something like that.

I could go for a whole Dark Twilight Saga and its up to the others to stop her. But they would have to make it longer then one episode.

If I knew a good artest there's a comic cover of Marvels DPS I'd like redone with this theim

Well, in the show, turning against each other they then became antagonists for Twilight who was trying to defeat Discord. There was a bit more trouble Twilight encountered because they had been turned against each other. Since they were antagonists for awhile, they still became evil temporarily.

Well there is a fan fiction about the Mane 6 playing a game pretending to be evil. But if there was a episode about one of them becoming evil (temporarily), I would have to say that Rainbow Dash, Twilight, and Applejack are very good candidates to be antagonists. It could happen, we just don't know when.

Twilight: I've been waiting for you, Celestia. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner; now I am the master.

Celestia: Only a master of evil, Twilight.

Now how cool would that be? Twilight, I think, is the main candidate for this. I mean she freaked out when her friendship report was slightly late and now she's a princess, imagine how stressed she must be. It would be the perfect time to, I don't know, study some dark magic to impress Celestia? Maybe have Sombra or Chrysalis come back and manipulate her? This would be a nice way to end [or even start] season 4 as well, maybe with a two or three part episode.

I actually expected this to be brought up in the season 3 finale (this speculation was immediately after seeing The Crystal Empire, so Twilicorn wasn't really a thing yet).  I was kind of disappointed that it wasn't, I thought that it would make for a somewhat dark, but really interesting story.

If there's going to be an episode where a villain manipulates Twilight, it's going to have to be a little genre savvy about it. Twilight knows what happened with Luna and she knows that that the villain can't be trusted. So the villain is going to have to work for it if they are going to turn Twilight. We've already seen that Twilight's greatest fears are losing her bond with her mentor or losing her friends, so trying to talk her into abandoning them would be a non-starter. I can see Twilight eagerly grabbing power if she thinks she can impress Celestia, so that would certainly be a route to follow at first.

I'm curious at to where the current Comic line will be going since as stated earlier its doing exactly what you mentioned OP.

Though i'm still a bit confused whether they're canon or not, so far I haven't seen any big issues that would prevent them from being so.

Regardless they're a fun read, and if some of the stuff from the comics such as this idea made it into the show it would be pretty cool.

Whew someone else does read the comics..

TBH i think their canon too, as they are licensed and they have a "Main" series and offshoots (the character specific stories and obvious not canon but rather more along the lines of cheap n cheesy fan stories)

But not sure on the "official" level...

After all, they did wrap up the Shapeshifters/Changelings deal the TV series left unfinished.

TBH too, i find them far more interesting than the series in many ways... but meh.

Imagine if, say, Fluttershy and Twilight got an argument, and the others chose sides. then, the argument affects all of Ponyville and has everyone at each others throats like the Hatfields and McCoys show. Then Celestia stops it and lectures about putting aside differences for the ending. I know it's not evil, but Twilight's side could be based off something wrong and slightly cruel she did.

I read a fan-fic where Twilight becomes an alicorn (it was written a long time before the episode aired) and she fulfills a prophecy.  The 3rd royal sister would be corrupted by the same evil that made Nightmare Moon.  She would kill all her friends and rule Equestria in ruins.  (It all gets worked out in the end though it friggen sad).  Anyways, I would love to see Twilight somehow get corrupted and turn on her teacher and Luna and the mane 6 and put up a challenge for them.

I think the comics are semi-AU because they start after Season 2 and major events we never heard about in the show take place(and Luna seems to have retained her Elements of Harmony characterization and design too, leading me to think her return went much differently in the comicverse.)

I dunno she fluctuates in the show. One moment she's the younger little version the next the tall nightmare moon/celestia adult. So it's kinda hard to place where exactly Luna stands at any moment since she's not often seen.

She always has the "power hair" and attitude from nightmare night on(aside from the S3 finale where she was just getting emotional and dropped the attitude)
