DarligPegasi 315 June 29, 2013 Share June 29, 2013 (edited) I try not to judge people and I usually don't but if I see an avatar with a certain symbol associated with something negative (in my opinion), I automatically assume that they support or are apart of that group. Iron Shield 88 July 7, 2013 Share July 7, 2013 I tend to judge sometimes, I won't lie. Mostly it's because, it just happens. Like in Ghostbusters when the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man pops into the mind of Ray. I tend to keep such thoughts to myself and I don't think too much about such things anyway. ReverseFaller 2,483 July 7, 2013 Share July 7, 2013 A little bit. You can't judge 'em too much by their avatar. You gotta read their posts, and learn what they're like. Key word=learn. You don't know everything about a person because of their avatar. Credit for the signature goes to Kyoshi
Toaster Bot 183 July 7, 2013 Share July 7, 2013 An avatar can tell a lot, but I can only assume. For example, the user above me clearly enjoys Pokemon. One could decide that assumptions and judgement can be made based off that fact (I myself cannot). However, I usually don't make a judgement unless the image is something that provides enough information to do so. I don't like you. Broseph 215 July 7, 2013 Share July 7, 2013 For some reason, my brain likes to link a person's avatar with their actual appearance..So if someone's avatar is a pony, I automatically think that a pony is at a computer and posting on forums.I don't really know why, makes things more interesting, I guess..Or maybe I'm just tired..But mostly I just link their avatars with the person's tastes. If it's a band logo, they like that band, if it's Pinkie Pie, that's their favourite pony etc. 1 Have a nice cold pint, and wait for all this to blow over.. Rainblow H. Ash 5,091 July 7, 2013 Share July 7, 2013 For some reason, my brain likes to link a person's avatar with their actual appearance.. So if someone's avatar is a pony, I automatically think that a pony is at a computer and posting on forums. I don't really know why, makes things more interesting, I guess.. Or maybe I'm just tired.. Ha ha, I do that sometimes too! For example, I can just imagine that you are Gummy in a suit typing this up on a computer while having a spot of tea. I guess that is technically judging a person by their avatar, but I of course realize that the person behind the screen is not a pony, or a toothless alligator for that matter. But it definitely makes for some funny moments to imagine that the avatar is the user! 2 #bringbackmerriwetherwillaims

Shiki 5,855 July 7, 2013 Share July 7, 2013 I will judge a person with a low-resolution pony creator avatar, or someone with an avatar that could be considered absolute "shite" in general, because they'd have to be morons to think it looks good. Although that's only the extreme cases. Usually I don't judge others for something as irrelevant as an avatar. 2 You'll be entranced by me ♥
Untitled Goose Q 5,137 July 7, 2013 Share July 7, 2013 You can get some information from an avatar, for instance on some other forums I see MLP related avatars and know that there is a brony there . However, some information cannot be got from an avatar, signatures are also a good way to get information, but not the best. The best way is to follow their content across the whole forum. Out of interest, what information do you get from my avatar/sig? On 4/22/2016 at 6:16 PM, The Nightly Spectre said: One does not ask why The Questioner is awesome. Lucifer 230 July 7, 2013 Share July 7, 2013 Usually... I do not. But then, if someone is using my drawings as their avatars, well, I tend to feel some pride, as in: OH YEAH I AM FAMOUS! PEOPLE USING MY IMAGES. Then... Wait... Is this considered art-stealing? Meh. ~Nothing is sad. Arsen 108 July 25, 2013 Share July 25, 2013 Sadly, I do often judge someone based on their avatar but that doesn't mean it's always negative. I often associate those with dark, black/red/gray, avatars as more emotional, quiet people while I look at those with bright, colorful avatars as more happy, joyful people. I also look at those with low-res, misaligned avatars as messier people. This obviously isn't always the case but that's just me I suppose. Weird eh? Capt. Snuggle Gruff 101 July 25, 2013 Share July 25, 2013 A little bit. But If you knew me on other sites or on Skype then you wouldn't be able to. Cause I'm changing my avatar like every three seconds. However I have the perfect avatar for here, so no worries, judge away! But yeah just a little bit, but I fully judge off of the person themselves. Luna Is My Favorite Power Ranger!
LunaUmbra 108 July 25, 2013 Share July 25, 2013 I only make judgements if their avatar is either terrible lookin' (quality wise) or inappropriate. Golurk 468 July 25, 2013 Share July 25, 2013 A slight bit. I typically use their avatar as a symbol of where their loyalty lies, often times thinking ever so slightly higher of people with Twily or Pinkie avatars. However, the effect is negated as soon as I see their post, which is an infinitely more accurate judge of character. Really, it only serves as a preliminary guess before the real evidence is shown. Judge a book by its words, not its cover. Indeed.
Lion Keyla 51 July 26, 2013 Share July 26, 2013 Well of course. Or not judge like that but I would more likely remember the person if I like their avatar, or find if extraordinary. :3 I probably wouldn't remember someone with just a black photo as avatar if I haven't talked to the person a bit. Xievie 498 July 26, 2013 Share July 26, 2013 (edited) I judge what people are like or what they like based off of an avatar, but I won't treat anybody any differently. Though, I do like talking to people with more interesting avatars to be honest. If they take their time picking out a good avatar rather than slapping on just any avatar, I guess I do respect them a bit for that, but still. Not gonna treat anybody any differently. Some avatars, like Scootalove's current one, kind of intimidate me. Sometimes I feel like certain people with certain intimdating avatars hate me. hawkflame 3,310 July 27, 2013 Share July 27, 2013 Well, in a sense I do, I use it to gauge their interests to an extent. For instance, if someone has a Fluttershy avatar, I'm going to assume that they're probably a Fluttershy fan. But I think that the avatar is a key element of identification for a user, which is why I haven't changed mine in something like a year. 1 Sig by Thunderstorm Check out my Rarity fansite! Wingnut 6,989 July 27, 2013 Share July 27, 2013 For the most part, I don't. But I will admit...I'm a sucker for Fluttershy avatars. That, more than anything else, is likely to get me to read a new member's profile and see what they have to say. I wonder if they're kind, shy, or animal lovers too. But naturally, everybody is different because avvies have very little to do with one's personality. Off the wall avatars like the ones used by Smitty also get my attention.

AlbinoThunder 42 July 27, 2013 Share July 27, 2013 Really, judging someone by their avatars is just plain silly. Somewhere, probably in the dark recesses of my mind, I'd probably judge others by their posts/topics, and their bio page, but I'd at least look at their personalities on the forums and what not. Honestly, I just could care less what you use as your avatar. ...Unless their avatar was porn. Then...I dunno. I guess I wouldn't trust 'em. Diamond* 531 July 27, 2013 Share July 27, 2013 Maybe even a little bit I do. But not in a bad way of course. If I see someone have a luna avatar, for example, I'd be like "WOW!! ANOTHER LUNA FAN!"..
