Even back then, I remember there were controversial issues that arose, so this was pretty predictable. I do have to say that it’s hard to mod something which happens instantaneously, such as chat, and even with cracking down by use of the or else approach there’s still no way to fully control things when they get outta hand except for a shut down. First of all, nobody wanted to close the room down, and we're not doing it to punish anyone per se; the goal of shutting it down temporarily at this point was to make it clear to people that the chat room is not a free-for-all. The chat room is a 24/7 service that gets thousands upon thousands of messages every days, keeping it constantly supervised and monitored every second of every day is something that is simply not plausible in the least bit. For the chat room to succeed we need everyone's help - not only in making sure that inappropriate content gets reported, but in making sure that inappropriate discussions are kept to a minimum in the first place. Dang, why does everything happen when I'm distracted by something? I did try my best to monitor the forums... but I guess uh... sometimes that isn't enough. Although I've barely been a monitor for that long. I can completely see why though. I mean, the chat has been getting unruly as one pony said with the newer members. I do hope it returns as I have made some friends from it, and have gotten to know people. I just think that a redefining of the rules, making them stricter and more specific, and less vague, is necessary. And I will uphold them the best I can when the chat returns. If it does. The rules shouldn't be too specific, like "No POOTIS spam" or anything. General Question: Did anything specific happen to warrant this or was it the POOTIS JOHN MADDEN FOOTBALL HEAD H spam? Cuz that's kinda my fault. It would also be reasonable to add a line of text saying "KEEP IT PG" near the top of the chat. (I wasn't on the chat today, so don't blame me for anything that happened today; I was reading a book.) There is a limit - it's 50 users. The problem here is the blatant disregard for the rules, which shows disrespect to your fellow members and the staff that spend hundreds of hours of their lives working as unpaid volunteers to run MLP Forums. We are not blaming anyone or anything specifically. We have simply decided that "enough is enough" and are taking the chatroom away temporarily to make a statement. We tried to be nice about it, we tried to be lenient, and we tried to keep the innocents out of it. We still see oodles of profanity and things that ABSOLUTELY don't belong on a My Little Pony fan site.
