TheMarkz0ne 962 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 (edited) Rather than talk about EG. I will say that TMNT 3 was one of the worst failures for a children's movie. If you've seen the movie you know what I'm talking about. I have a feeling Equestria girls...instead of putting in Discord, Chrysalis, Sombra or the Nightmare Clouds as villains will never appear. We will get a human villain who is a stereotype and mediocre. Many bronies wanted to see their characters together on the big screen. It will never happen. So I will repeat myself. Who will the villain be? After all the movie should be epic right? I mean that's what a movie should be, not a waste of time A.) Chrysalis B)Discord C.) Sombra D) Nightmare Clouds E) ALL OF THE ABOVE well the answer is none of the above. The answer is just a big F U to all the fans who anxiously waited to see their beloved characters on the big screen. Also the human versions of the mane 6 look like shit Watch the villain be a corporate wall street man elitist who wants to spread greed all around the world through propaganda and fear. I BET YOU WE WILL SEE THAT I'm ranting because if this bombs...It will. The franchise will die and all of Faust's and Megan's hard work will be ruined Edited May 9, 2013 by TheMarkz0ne
Naught Important 434 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 I love how you think you can predict the future... that seems to be common in mankind. Seriously, complain and rant all you want, but do it when you actually have seen the movie. I trust in whoever is writing the script for the movie, and despite the whole concept appearing to be something that will plummet into the bowels of hell it can still be good. 9 The extent of my interest is in things that don't exist. Or, at least, things that aren't in the basic man's senses
ShadowRose2k 271 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 I'm ranting because if this bombs...It will. The franchise will die and all of Faust's and Megan's hard work will be ruined While I can't say I like the look of EG (reminds me of those Bratz dolls, shudder) I have to disagree about the MLP Franchise death. As long as the community continues to support what it likes and ignore what is totaly dumb, then we should be fine. 2 Other's more Talented than me. http://askflufflepuff.tumblr.com/ www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmY4-RMB0YY
Sunnerino 182 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 You can't really say anything about the movie, because... It hasn't come out yet. Just give it a try, seriously. And if you don't care about it, just ignore it. And the MLP Franchise dying? I doubt it. I'm gonna go see it, but even if I dislike it, I'm still gonna love the show. 5 If you see me around, feel free to say hey!
Veylon 255 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 I think this may be an apt comparison. TMNT 3 isn't just bad, it's legendarily bad. It didn't just vanish like so many other bad movies, but has lingered in memory to this very day. And EG gives me the same vibe. The laziest way to make a FiM movie would be to grab a random episode and stretch to ninety minutes through padding and unnecessary song. The Mane Six would break up at the beginning over some trifle, mope around for a while, and then get back together for no particular reason. The second laziest way would be stretch the series opener to ninety minutes. But this would be the ordinary kind of bad that happens when nobody cares. EG is more of the crazy kind of bad. Somebody latched onto the idea of a High School My Little Pony and when it turned out bad, refused to drop it and, instead, keeps embroidering the idea. Oh, yeah, the ponies will turn into humans. But not normal human-type humans, but weird animal-people humans. All of them? No, just the one, but since she needs her friends, there will be alternate universe versions of them. Who will also be weird animal people. And they'll have wings. And they'll all go to school together like the X-Men, even though the main character already graduated. It's all folly and madness and I'm very tempted to go see it.
Windwaker 194 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 This is looking like the original FIM series. Everypony will hate it. And they wouldn't watch it. But if you DO watch it, you might have the exact opposite reaction and LOVE this movie. But, hey, if this IS bad, we'll ignore it. Sure, this looks like a complete pile of garbage, but I'm still going to watch it and check it out. And of course, the fandom is way too strong to die just because of a shitty spinoff. TasteTheRainboom 82 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 We cant really know, it really depends on whos working on it, if its the same team like in FiM then it might actually be awsome. And it iwll probably be the best my little pony movie (compared to the gen 3 movies, anything is) Rainbow Dash is best pony.

Anyway, I think a poor villain is the least of our worries. Picking apart this thing is pointless, because it's pretty safe to assume this whole thing will be a dud. Or maybe it won't. I dunno. I'm a bit indifferent at this point. My only complaint is that I wish he resources were used for a true FiM movie. If us TMNT fans could put up with Part 3, The Next Mutation, the "Coming Out of Our Shells", and eventually a shitty movie directed by the asshat who made Battle LA and produced by Michael "Give No Bucks" Bay, then this should be easy to ignore and get over. Fluttershyfan94 5,742 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 EQgirls is a spin-off series, it has no effect on the show. So if it really would suck it wouldn't have any effect on the show itself. It wouldn't be the end of the MLP franchise. The worst that can happen is that it actually will suck and we will all just forget about it. They are just experimenting, just trying out something new. If it would get bad response they at hasbro and DHX would know that they should not try that again. But honestly it won't have any effects on the show itself. We are fans of MLP: friendship is magic, nothing says we have to be fans of EQgirls too, maybe we will like it maybe we won't, it really doesn't matter. 1 DA: http://fluttershyfan94.deviantart.com/ Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/Fluttershyfan94
Keypassion 232 May 9, 2013 Share May 9, 2013 (edited) I'm probably one of the only few that actually enjoyed TMNT 3. While not as good as the first two, it was still a good movie in my opinion. Also, what Cobalt Flytrap said is true. It hasn't even come out yet. What you're doing is being prejudiced. Now before people take this post out of context, the definition of prejudiced is as follows: an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason. I take my leave of this thread with the words "Don't knock it until you try it." Edited May 9, 2013 by Keypassion http://www.mlpchat.com

Well aside from the AVGN's review of TMNT. I was a fan when I was a kid, because my older cousin had the original series. He also had the movies. Even as a kid I knew TMNT 3 was shit. Phoenix237 353 May 10, 2013 Share May 10, 2013 First of TMNT 3 was horrible, I agree. Even as a kid I disliked this film. Now as for the villan? That's the least of our problems. Trust me there are worse things to worry about then that. I won't agree or disagree with anyone sayin this movie will be horrible or not, because I don't know. And you know what I won't get into this argument. When it comes out it will come out, no hate will stop that.
Love*Potion 575 May 10, 2013 Share May 10, 2013 Well I never actually have seen TMNT 3, but I assume it wasn't very successful, which is my prediction for Equestria Girls. I personally think it's rediculous and won't watch it, but hey some people probably will. I just feel like that show won't be as successful because the majority of veiwers are fans of MLP FiM, but whatever. Maybe it will surprise us? The series's popularity continued well into the 90's, and has spawned two more cartoons (one is okay, the latest one is awesome) and two movies. Granted, the latest movie is gonna suck hard, but the series will survive that too. Equestria Girls will, at worst, just be "that one stupid thing they did that one time". Brony Number 42 10,072 May 10, 2013 Share May 10, 2013 (edited) This is what you get when people in suits with business degrees get their fingers in art. Ren and Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi, in the DVD commentary, tells a story about how he and Ralph Bakshi tried to create a show in the 1980s, but studio execs didn't want anything new because they said that fans wanted to see rehashed, old cartoon characters. In The Real Ghostbusters DVD commentary, one of the creators tells a similar story. Network execs and jerkoffs with degrees in child psychology changed the show after the first season to make it appeal to kids. The result: ratings dropped. Star Trek Enterprise cocreator Brannon Braga tells a similar story about how studio big shots wanted the show to appeal to mass audiencies. The examples go on and on. I consider myself an expert on cartoons, and I've seen this kind of thing before. To be fair, the purpose for the existence of any show is to make money, and there's nothing wrong with that. However, since it is our money they want, we have the right to vote with our dollars. Shows like GI Joe and Transformers are essentially extended toy commercials. The DVD commentary for GI Joe mentions changes in law in the 1980s regarding kids' cartoons and advertising, thus allowing for the creation of the shows. But the original GI Joe and Transformers shows were amazing. Consider again a franchise like Pokemon. Very popular (for whatever reason). Any show of any significance is the result of someone trying to make a lot of money. So the issue at hoof is this: There is nothing wrong with engineering a show to make money, as long as the show doesn't SUCK. You might remember old Cartoon Network cartoons (back when they used to make cartoons). Shows like Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Ed Edd and Eddy, were created by people who liked cartoons. They were made by animation students and professionals who made shows that they themselves wanted to see. The best cartoons are the ones that are made by adults, for adults. I don't mean dirty like Family Guy. I mean subtle and sophisticated, and Friendship Is Magic falls into that category. You can tell that the show was written for an adult aduience with a taste for the innocent humor and adventure. Adults can enjoy the show for the plot and character development, and children will like the show because, basically, kids will watch anything. Equestria Girls reeks of walking business suits, fresh out of college with their Business Management, Television Production, and Marketing degrees, and their class room theories about how to "maximize the market potential by delivering catered products to key demographics." The show was designed by a team of "experts" in ties, sitting around a conference table, viewing a Power Point presentation, with graphs showing MLP ratings and toy sales for the last fiscal quater. These people have never seen an episode of the show. They have never talked to a fan. They know nothing about cartoons. But they are betting on all of us to eat up this show because it has My Little Pony® stamped on it. The show will bomb, we all know this. Otherwise they could have marketed it as an independent thing. A show about a teenage girl trying to survive the trials of high school? Are you kidding me? Vote with your dollars and stay home. If you want to watch the first episode just to be fair, then fine. But don't grit your teeth and put up with a whole season of this garbage. Just say no!
