And people who play only on PCs are missing out plenty of great console exclusives.

Such as? The only console exclusive I feel I'm missing out on is the Last Of Us and the announced Killer Instinct. I'm not too concerned about Kingdom Hearts 3 although that would be cool to play. There are almost no Xbox One exclusives that seem that great or that innovate much. I'm actually more excited about the Wii U exclusives, Bayonetta 2 and Super Smash Bro's.

The PC has steam which provides me with more games than I can ever hope for.

I think I will be sticking with my PC for a while though I might get a PS4 somewhere down the line. I really like that Sony are allowing users to share games and the price seems reasonable enough too.

I plan on getting a PC later this year. If I was getting a console, I would go with Xbox One. To put it nicely, I am not what you would call a Sony fan.

Undecided, personally.  The Xbox One exclusives sound pretty interesting to me, and unlike many folks, I'm actually not bothered by the idea of the camera being "always on".  Because I have a Smart Power Strip, which uses my TV as a switch for all the rest of my A/V center electronics.  And I can't remember the last time I actually traded in a game or lent a copy to more than one friend.  But at the same time, I'm neither a Microsoft loyalist nor a big fan of Sony either, so I'll probably base my decision on a new console purchase on the strength of the titles available.

Also, with regard to the PC market: Have you guys been following the slump in PC sales *at all*?  PCs aren't going to go away any time soon, but it IS starting to become harder to find quality PC parts at reasonable prices, at least if you want to stay on the forefront.  More and more of the major manufacturers are going with "slim PCs" - basically prefab units with minimal upgradability, because that's all most people really want or need these days, and they're less expensive to produce.  If the trends keep up, it really won't be very cost-effective to keep building custom PC gaming rigs like many people here are saying.

(Heck, you can spend more on a "decent" video card as you would on an entire brand-new game console.)

PC, and there is no contest, it's' the best.

It beats all the rest.

The PC plays what the consoles just don't, so buy a next-gen console? No, I won't.

The Xbox One spies on you all day, and the PS4, what else do I have to say?

Okay, this is an unfair comparison.

The obvious winner in the end, is PC. If you have the time, and the resources, you can customize it to do whatever you want it to do. The only negative aspect I can see with the PC is the price you have to pay to get the same level of performance.

Now between the PS4 and Xbox, I say PS4. Only because they don't force these ridiculous restrictions on you.

I'll stick with my Wii U right now and get a PS4 later. The only games that I liked at Sony conference were FFXV and KH3 but I really hate having to pay to play online, that's the reason I got a PS3 in the 1st place.

From what happening this gen and last gen I might become a NintPC gamer soon.

Possibly one of the the biggest highlights of using a PC for gaming are Mods. A good Mod can make a game so much more enjoyable and greatly increase game play time. Plus, who doesn't like being able to Alt+Tab out of a game and check whatever from time to time.

Again, not a Microsoft loyalist here, but I find it amazing how quickly and completely people are buying into this conspiracy theory that the Kinect 2 is going to be used to spy on everyone.  Back in 2002, I worked in Microsoft's Online Crash Analysis group, the team that handled all the incoming crash reports from WinXP when everyone thought MS was going to use THAT to spy on them.  I can tell you from having seen the sheer volume of data (I had to write database queries to create useful summaries of that data), there is NO WAY they could EVER have any interest in spying on any one particular person.

If you want to buy in to spy conspiracies, you need look no further than the United States government.  But neither Microsoft nor any of the companies it contracts with have the resources to do any "spying" on a game console.  No more so than they could use the ubiquitous cameras installed in virtually every laptop and cell phone to spy on their customers either. :P

CONPSIRACIES! It's Area 51 man!

I don't even use Kinect and I don't want to "have" to use it to do anything, that's what a controller is for!But with the announcement of the Steam Box, I'm excited for it.....

Also PC will always be the master race in gaming.

...no offense, but PC never appeared on E3 2013. Plus, it doesn't count as a console itself, so the main focus for both consoles are the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. Again, no offense to PC gamers, but as mentioned, PC never appeared in E3, let alone the unveiling of upcoming PC games.

Anyway, to me, PS4 is my main priority, not just from the price, but also that allows me to play used games without the worry of paying up per each game, so the PS4 is gonna be on my Christmas wishlist. smile.png

Dedicated PC gamer here, thinking of getting a PS4. The backwards compatibility is a big plus for me, since I never had a PS3. Add on a long list of great exclusives, and yeah. It's very tempting. I have a ton of PC games to enjoy first though.

Technically speaking, PC's have the ablity to beat consoles in the majority of regards really. They can be upgraded while consoles really can't for the most part, and that means they are able to have a higher potential overall as they can be kept up to date easier, plus they have more space to put all kinds of super powerful things in them.

The problem is that PC's also typically cost alot more. Although steam games can offer a cheap way to buy games, theres also some console exclusives for systems and the such, so yeah.

As far as specs go Pc's have more potential, but are pricy, so yeah its whatever fits you needs there I guess.

As for Xbox one and PS4, I honestly haven't done a whole lot of research, so I really don't want to put much of any opinions down with my limited knowledge, honestly I haven't heard anything that caught my ear for either one really, so really if I get one it'll be due to games I want.

Although theres games on Wii U and 3Ds that I want, so I have a feeling those will come first. I also have a few other things I need to get, so yeah something tells me my cash will be kinda dry to buy either anyways.

Honestly most of the time my reason for buying one console over another is the games for it :P, most of the time thats the case, or I just know more people with one then the other, or something like that.

Anyways I'm just gonna stop rambling now about nonsense, I think the PC if you have the cash is better specs wise, but if you want a console exclusive game or don't have money then its going to be one of the consoles, which is going to be determined by what you want to play and what your friends are playing on Ect on my opinion.

It's so cool to see so many PC gamers here...sadly all my RL friends and xbox and PS addicts. They say that PC gaming is dead...but I know otherwise. I think I paid about $500 for the machine I have now...get a nice big monitor and you can have way more fun than on a console. I'm really looking forward to Star Citizen, actually. :3 PCs might be more expensive initially but in the long run you'll save because you don't need anything else, you can do pretty much anything with it. Plus the amount of good free/inexpensive games for PC may surprise you.

Yeap. go on Steam, there's a bunchof Free To Play games...quite a few are really good, like Team Fortress 2(though I bought it way before it turend F2P) ,Black Light: Retribution, Dota 2, and a few more but I can't recall their names.

Also another thing for PCs....I can use emulators and torrents to play console exclusive games on it....if I REALLY wanted to play a console exclusive that is.The only console exclusive game I really liked on Xbox was Forza....Halo was meh.

The whole thing about "No used games" for the Xbox One and the "Always Online DRM" policy's haven't been proven nor finalized. It was a rumor that could crush the console in a terrible, unnecessary way. Either way I'm getting the Xbox One before the PS4. That is if I can get them both.

It's important to note that there are a lot of people who are just flat-out prejudiced against Microsoft - they're almost always seen as the big bully on the yard.  But if you go and read their terms of service, then read the terms of service for Steam, PlayStation Network, even MiiVerse, you'll see that Microsoft's policies aren't really any worse (or better, honestly) than anyone else's.  Lately, they've actually been a lot more up-front and realistic about how things work online, and what they feel they need to do to protect their own assets from legal liability should someone have a "bad experience".  That doesn't necessarily excuse some of the decisions they're making, but a lot of the rumors and negative press MS is getting this season is pretty well unfounded, IMO - it's more bred out of general hatred for the company than on anything they've actually said.

Tends to happen every time Microsoft does anything, really.

Actually the hate is mostly from

1. the very, VERY disappointing Xbox One reveal early back

2. Their attempt to respond and change the outcries from the reveal were JACK SHIT, all they changed was how the bullshit that was first rumored into the same bullshit in a different skin.

2. The most BULLSHIT INTERVIEW I have ever seen a few days prior to E3.

3. How underwhelmed their E3 was, most of the games that were shown were multiplatform or didn't matter at all.

4. The fact you pay $100 more for a weaker system that offers less.

Then you got Sony packing the big guns at their conference but that is a whole other story.

I don't disagree that Microsoft's offering isn't the end-all-be-all of modern gaming.  They could have made some much better decisions than they did.  I'm just pointing out that MS has *always* been seen as the "Big Bully" company (and some of that reputation is rightly deserved, but not all of it), and the rumor mill was already churning out hate toward the "Xbox 720" long before the One was announced.  So now, it doesn't surprise me at all to see much of that hatred being perpetuated beyond what, personally, I would consider a reasonable level - most of the stuff I've been reading has been rather blatant about coming from the Pro-Sony camp without any real basis in what MS has actually said or what policies they've published.

I'm just trying to keep things reasonable.  Not saying you should love the Xbox One - just trying to make sure negative comments about it are at least somewhat grounded in reality.

I mean that's just the thing, how can you keep negative comments away if basically all the rumors are true in some form and then the list I shown as a follow up? You all ready got a bad reputation Microsoft, don't try pulling all of this and be so arrogent. Literally in that inverview, Microsoft is basically saying, "oh you don't have that good of internet? Fuck off then." And then jam pack it with all this bullshit of how they researched and what people liked. They are literally trying real hard right now just to cover up full details on all the negative aspects of the Xbox One that are all ready known.

You know you are doing something wrong even if your fanbase is jumping ship to PC and PS4. BUT if Microsoft wants to blow their brains out, they can go right ahead because as far as I can see, they just don't give a rats ass for their customer feedback.

Specs say so little about video game consoles. And, there not even out yet, so i dont think we can judge just yet. However, i will boycott the Xbox One. A new Killer Instinct is cool and all, but consumers have rights too, and i feel Microsoft isn´t respecting these.

I can't argue with you TOO much on the "blowing their brains out" bit - Windows 8 (and now 8.1) shows pretty well how they've retreated into their own little world with respect to what their customers want, and Win8 is being directly blamed for the recent slump in PC sales that I alluded to earlier in this thread.

I wouldn't blame people not buying a PC because of Windows 8, it sucks balls if you are not on a tablet. I have probably found more frustration with Windows 8 than even Internet Explorer 6.

PCs are the way to go right now but I like keeping it diverse, PS4/PC this upcoming generation for me.

honestly, I'm going for the PS4 and Wii U. My PC, while it runs Steam well, it'll more than like crash if even attemt to play any games on it (it has a hard time running internet so, yeah)

Besides, PS4 is just like... 399 dollars, give or take.

Sure the added cost of Playstation Plus and such just to play Multiplayer but honestly, it's worth it just to be able to play without the risk of being hacked so easily

I really don't have that much money to buy a gaming PC either so Gaming PC is out of the question for now...
