Sergios117 192 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 I made a horrible discovery today that is Encyclopedia Dramatica. It's a 'trolling' website that's compromised entirely of immature dudes hating on everything known to man. Now, I've watched South Park so I'm okay with the concept of making fun of everything, however ED is horribly unfunny and not to mention, an excuse for people to plaster rule 34 on everything. This makes the internet pages slow to load up, I may add. Now I know some people will say they make fun of everyone, but honestly, it seems that the wiki has an obsession with making fun of us to a point where it seems they're serious. Honestly, they can't seem to accept the fact that teenage boys and older like a show for valid reasons. They think that we're some sort of anti male movement despite most of us being critics of feminism (Don't lie to me, I've seen a bunch of comments from a lot of users.). Not to mention, they whined when someone made a ponified version of their mascot. Finally, they think everything we do is clopping. So what's their problem? I wish I could take today back. Sigh. repsol rave 2,963 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 well, since we are mostly teenagers and older that like a kid's show, we are a very and i mean very easy target. i don't really mind those things a lot and i think you shouldn't mind it either. if they want to hate, let them hate. but don't participate 2 My OC's: Roarke, Repsol and Crystal
Flow 1,624 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 Encylopedia Dramatica is a site that will poke fun on almost everything, you should expect flak on something especially on a show that manages to attract people out of the target audience. Don't let the site bother you and you'll be fine. 1 OCs: Flow / Love Bloom
An Old Head 4,816 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 Because they have nothing better to do. I don't preoccupy myself with that drivel. The fact that someone would write an extensive article purely outlining the negatives of something that thrives and does loads for its community members, only shows their own resentment at the fact that they don't understand all the fuss. It's a pretty typical thing of Bronies to say, often rehashed if you may, but it's a means of getting rid of their own frustration from looking on at a community based on the companionship they were never able to have.
Justin ZW 396 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 Because it's Encyclopedia Dramatica. I find it to be funny on occasion, although it usually just goes overboard with it. Let them troll, and don't feed them. Or, if you like, go on there and make legitimate articles about things. They'll get angry 1 A Whovian Administrator of Zelda Wiki who loves Rainbow Dash and all her antics.
Smarts 1,622 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 I say it is because they are very bored. That and we are naturally easy targets for people to troll us. they whined when someone made a ponified version of their mascot. Haters whine about that with any mascot. If a mascot is ponified then it is officially ruined in their minds. Great logic there, guys. 2 IF is best girl.
Rappy0 338 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 Well it is a wiki that can and will be changed by anybody. If you go to the site I recommend not looking up things you like and to use ad blocker and remember that most of the things that they say is false (unless cited). I do think that they need to lay off of somethings it can become a little too offensive but it's best too ignore it. I highly doubt that people take it seriously, though this is the internet... Justin ZW 396 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 I just read through their articles about MLP and bronies and such. I actually lold quite a bit. I could've done without seeing those abhorrent porn pics, though. 3 A Whovian Administrator of Zelda Wiki who loves Rainbow Dash and all her antics. SkyGust 71 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 (edited) If they want to waste that much time on something they do not like, they can. But really, why would they want to? My guess is they actually have nothing better to do then make fun of people who are not doing any harm. Edited June 23, 2013 by SkyGust
SoarinBlue 202 June 23, 2013 Share June 23, 2013 ED is pretty great. This is what they do though. They make fun of everything. It's like 4chan in wiki form. If you're going there to take it seriously or have thin skin, you're doing it wrong. Also, obligatory mention that Oh Internet is balls
Zerobot 179 June 24, 2013 Share June 24, 2013 It's a website dedicated to making fun of everything. I wouldn't expect them to go easy on bronies. Seriously, anything put on ED is going to be incredibly dramatic (cwutididther) and this fandom does give a lot of potential for content. Being offended by ED is like being mad at a machine that was built to throw knives in every direction for throwing a knife at you. It's what it does, just stay out of its way if you're not immune to knives. I'm not sure what I was doing with that analogy. Or I guess it's a simile because I used like. Dangit. "Hi I'm hipster superman, you probably haven't heard of me I'm pretty obscure." The center picture is hipster superman. The other four pictures are my favorite webtoon, anime, band, and comic. They're pretty obscure. They might actually not be but I've never met anyone who's heard of them.
Rainblow H. Ash 5,091 June 24, 2013 Share June 24, 2013 Before I became a Brony, I didn't like that site. I still don't. But if people find it funny, so be it. I never saw anything about Bronies on there, but it has been quite some time since I've perused the site, so much has probably changed since I last took a peek at it. If they're going overboard with Brony-bashing, I suppose that's they're prerogative and it really doesn't effect me. After all, if you're expecting to go through life and not face an ounce of criticism, then say nothing, do nothing, be nothing. That about sums up my thoughts on this. #bringbackmerriwetherwillaims
Nohbdy 4,108 June 24, 2013 Share June 24, 2013 Encyclopedia Dramatica is a site built for crude humor. Its claim to fame is its vulgarity, which its members try to raise as high as possible. Honestly, there's a lot to make fun of in the MLP fandom. It's basically turning every Brony stereotype there is, and then raising it to eleven. It may be offensive, but they do that to everybody. I'd say ignore that site if you find its content disagreeable.
Nas 2,873 June 24, 2013 Share June 24, 2013 Enyclopedia Dramatica is like Wikipedia and 4chan's baby. It's purpose is parodical satire, mixed with trending internet culture. And of course, when you're going to talk about internet culture, you're going to eventually have to talk about ponies. The fact that the website is satirical makes it even more prone to content about ponies and the pony fandom. 1 My journey in the fandom started on April 5, 2012. I joined here on April 24, 2012. Where that journey is headed now, who knows...
DITR 180 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 I think that Urban Dictionary is way worse when it comes to bronies, especially considering that you can get something like "Bronies lick each others balls LOL" printed on a t-shirt
TasteTheRainboom 82 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 They have an obsession with everything "devient". I guess were just a curently easy target to make fun of. Just ignore it, i've seen Encyclopedia Dramatica being obssesed with pretty much everything popular atm and finding something "bizzare" in pretty much anything Rainbow Dash is best pony. Arkane 270 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 Its a satire site. Like that landoverbaptist website. None of it are legitimate. But it is a good place for some sick laugh. xD
I love Jelly Otter 477 August 14, 2014 Share August 14, 2014 Why you need to be obsessed that much over a show initially intended for typical 7-14yo girls to be sure you won't be mentioned on ED? Jonquil 20 August 14, 2014 Share August 14, 2014 (edited) The point of Encyclopedia Dramatica is to be offensive. I think at one point it might have been legitimate satire, but if so those days are long gone. Satire isn't repeating insults like "autistic" 20 times a page. Raritas 6,820 August 14, 2014 Share August 14, 2014 (edited) I used to read some of their articles, some were humourous, others tried too hard. That's all it really is to be honest. It feels like a competition amongst the authors, who can write the crudest, most offensive piece, it doesn't matter what the subject is. A lot of the articles follow the same format, using generic internet stereotypes, and the novelty wears off very quickly. Don't take it too seriously Edited August 14, 2014 by Raritas "Sometimes I wish I could imagine myself 10 years from now, out of college, living life without boundaries. But, at the end of the day, it's just a step closer to the future. Ashen Pathfinder 16,161 August 14, 2014 Share August 14, 2014 To me, ED is less satire and more about insults & porn. I dunno, I tried to have a sense of humor regarding that site, but it's like watching Jerry Springer. Magical Anarchy 177 August 14, 2014 Share August 14, 2014 I'm sorry...but ED is right. The Brony Fandom was actually a plot made when Obama was elected as an anti-male movement, so he could secretly fund Putin's excessive need to make sure BP had an oil spill in the gulf. Yep. That's how it totally went down. Alright, now here's my two bits: Anti-male movement....really? That's not even a thing. There's no point yo being anti-male when your fandom is comprised of people who 1) Are male 2) don't have a view on feminism (this one is me..and the first one too ) 3) are female 4) know that feminism isn't being anti-male. Hayao Miyazaki was a huge feminist, but it's not like guys weren't or didn't have a role. Look at Ponyo, or Spirited Away, or even The Wind Rises (though it's a biography...) Yep. People are stupid. Windseeker 546 August 14, 2014 Share August 14, 2014 I read it too, completely full of lies, bias, and very insulting. It's simply because the website is affiliated with 4Chan, the same site we basically ran over.
Moved to Elsewhere 11,331 August 14, 2014 Share August 14, 2014 Because the thrive off attention and getting reactions which explains why they do it "for the Lulz." Also, it's men liking my little pony so they would have the most fun with it. You know another thing ED is obsessed with? Autism. I honestly can't even take that site seriously. It's sometimes so rediculous it's funny. Do you really think you can take the same site that has an article praising Hitler seriously? Ignoring the so rediculous it's funny, ED is really not good at satire. Most of their jokes consist of, "lol this guys an autistic man child." Also, the porn ads are way too distracting and annoying.
