Official Opening of Roleplay World!

"What's this new section down there, below Cloudsdale Colosseum?!" you might be saying to yourself as you scroll down the index.

Introducing (and you should imagine some sort of drum roll here)... Roleplay World! Feld0 and I have heard your feedback about the Cloudsdale Colosseum roleplays and have created a new system we hope that everyone will enjoy. It is more streamlined and organized, and introduces a three-thread system . There is the Roleplays section for your actual roleplaying needs, Roleplay Planning & OOC Discussion for communicating with other roleplayers out of character, and a Character Database designed for the archiving of your OCs.

Just go on over to the Roleplay World System thread to get started!

And to address a question we're sure many of you will have:

What will happen to the Cloudsdale Colosseum RP's?

Members will be allowed a period of time to recreate their Cloudsdale RPs under the new Roleplay World system, after which all old roleplays will be moved to the Cloudsdale Archive and locked.

Perfect! I like it a lot, and change is always great. This way people who do not enjoy seeing thousands of roleplay threads finally don't have to anymore, and those looking for an RP experience directly know where to go.

I love you! <3

It's great to finally see Roleplay World open! Thanks for making it happen, Ary!

To everyone who currently has an RP running in Cloudsdale Colosseum, please make an effort to transfer it into the new RP World system as soon as possible, because we will eventually archive every single one of the old RP threads. If you have already switched to the new system, please feel free to notify Arylett or myself and we'll archive the old thread at request, which will get it out of the Colosseum and clean the place up a little ahead of schedule. :)

Lastly, a little note to all of our non-RP'ers who might honestly not be interested in the extra scrolling that RP world adds to the site index: hit the minus button on the Roleplay World category, and you can hide its sections from view. Should you ever want to restore it, there will be a plus button in the minus button's place that will bring it back. See the following screenshot:

I emailed Feld0 directly about the issue. Thank you for bringing it to our attention, and for your patience as it is taken care of. :)

Got same problem as Skullbuster.

I can confirm that error, looks like a permission miss-configuration.

My apologies for this - looks like I accidentally set the "Allow posters to view other member's topics" permission to no. This has been fixed.

I've noticed some people porting their roleplays to Roleplay World and they... haven't been converted to the new format. Everyone, you can't just copypaste everything from the old CDC thread in your RP thread, including your character forms still in the first post, and expect that to be converted to the new system. It is highly encouraged that if you are still taking new sign-ups to make OOC threads. (If it's a Private RP with just two people, that probably isn't so necessary.) Also, if your old thread was titled Open or Private in it, USE THE PREFIXES and remove the open/private from the title. Lastly, you are supposed to have the premise and concept of the RP in the first post of the OOC thread.

I'm sorry if I sound irritated, but I have seen so many mistakes already and I thought it was rather clear how the new system works.

Hmmm...

Do you mind if I ask if I did it right?

I made my character sheet, made the OOC thread, and made the rp.

Am I doing it right?

Yes, mostly. You just don't have your concept and rules in your OOC thread, so new people won't know what it's about if they want to join. So just go on and edit that in and you're all set.

I guess I'm the only one who dislikes this system? I've seen too many great RP's fall apart because they were too structured and had too many guidelines, with people getting super anal about not ever going OOC in the RP thread, kicking people out because of a grammar mistake here or there, getting pissed because the character sheet template didn't have the right words bolded and underlined...

I'll try the new system, maybe it will work better here. This forum has had a much higher average quality than most others I've frequented, after all :/

I'd suggest giving it a shot before writing it off as a failure, to be honest. The thing is barely a single day old, and it's not as if everything is completely set into stone. If it turns out that things aren't working out for people those things can be changed. Few things are perfect right from the get-go, after all.

Really, the entire purpose of the new system is to benefit people interested in roleplay, and to encourage additional and more widespread participation in them. I don't think it is anyone's goal to implement a far-reaching super-bureaucracy to wade through so much as it is our goal to make things less of a difficult to navigate cluttered mess.

Give the new stuff a try. If after doing so you feel there are issues that you'd like to see addressed, or changes that you'd like to see made, please feel free to make a thread discussing them - the feedback prefix is available for use in the support board for a reason, after all!

Ok, am I expected to make a seperate character sheet on the character board for every character I RP with? I rarely use the same character in multiple RPs, at most only recylcing a name or a power here and there; I usually make a new charcter with every RP. In the old system, obiovusly I would post directly in the RP thread, but now I can't really do that, can I?

Well...

not to toot my own nostalgia horn, but this is what I am used to.

Although there is a small difference, it is almost like every role play board I have been on, and I am beyond happy that the roleplayers of the forum now have an elaborate section to call their own <3

I would imagine that you would make a new sheet for the different characters.

In the old system, obiovusly I would post directly in the RP thread, but now I can't really do that, can I?

Mm... to be honest the only difference at this point (as far as I know - Arylett is much more familiar with the entire thing than I) is the fact that you'd be posting your character information in a new thread in the character board rather than directly in the RP thread, which is a fairly minor change I'd say.

Yes. You have to make a thread for each character. What Zoop said, pretty much. The system is made with the intent of organization. With posting your threads in the RP thread, everything becomes disorganized and it is hard for other roleplayers to find your character sheet to refer to. This way, all they have to do is look you up in the Character Database. It's not just for people who reuse characters, it's for organization and convenience.
