Although I do believe that toxicity in LoL is something that Riot should address, I don't think that banning players is the correct action to take. A ban is too harsh a punishment for simply trash talking, and banned players will likely just smurf anyways. Chat restrictions seem like a more fair punishment, with bans being reserved for players that ruin the actual gameplay (afk, intentionally feeding, ddos, etc.) rather than just the social experience of the game. I also think that Riot should be giving more rewards to players that remain positive. It would be nice to have something like weekly bonus IP for not being toxic. This would also boost IP gains, which are far too low considering the prices of champions and runes.

Late response I know, I was originally gonna post that video a few days ago but I put it off because my interest in MLPforums kinda waned.

I've been spending the past few months wondering why each passing game I've played of league, it started feeling like a chore. Seeing my favorite league youtuber harshly criticize riot and their game is probably the best thing to happen in the league community since I've joined. The thing about dunkey is, yes, he's toxic as fuck, he's offensive, that's his thing. I honestly couldn't give a shit less about toxicity in league, it's completely natural and it's a part of literally every competitive game out there. CS:GO and CoD's communities are far more toxic than league's and I have way more fun playing them than I do playing league. If you're gonna judge the message of that whole video by that one little bit where he asked for an unban to finish a video, you're silly in doing so because the larger point there he was trying to make is that toxicity is not a rampant issue that riot needs to deal with anyway. Regardless of the toxicity issue, I wholeheartedly agree with everything he says in the video and I hope a few executives at Riot saw it too, because it feels like Riot's giving the LCS and competitive scene their full, undivided attention while everyone else can just buy the new shitty project skins and go fuck themselves.

On a more lighthearted note, I really am super hype for the new champ. I love their design and concept so much, I actually think I might shell out $15 for the full kit if I feel any better about league by then.

If Riot really did care about the competitive scene, then they would give us a sandbox mode to practice in. But they didn't and that's fine, it's their choice."There are very real skills one can develop in a hyperbolic time chamber, we never want that to be an expectation added onto an already high barrier to entry." -Riot Games. By that statement it's fair to say that Riot mostly cares for the casual players.

This time of the year is an exception since worlds is starting in a few weeks, but every other day of the year belongs to the casuals, and amateurs who enjoy the game.

Toxicity is a certainly an issue. It's not the worst thing in the world to get barked at by some random ass-hole, but that doesn't mean it's suddenly ok for everyone to do it. And I would like to point out the difference between trash-talk and being toxic. Trash-talk is talking down to someone in a playful and obviously harmless manner, it's still rude, but playful banter is inherently harmless. Being "toxic" is bullying/flaming/raging at one or more people. People who are sensitive often mix these two up.

Dunkey, without a doubt, deserved the ban. When he got banned, he threw a tantrum and made a video shaming Riot on the most obvious problems. Even going so far to say there is "no skill" involved in League. He sounds like every other obnoxious dick in Plat elo I've ever met. His content is great, I love every single video he has ever made (not even exaggerating). It's just sad to see such a fun person be so salty over silly issues that Riot is working on. If he had just stopped making LoL videos, and let the people who only watched him for them leave, then he would have accomplished the same goal without the drama. I wish him the best of luck, and look forward to his next video. o7

Feel free to add me on EUW: Kuscheltier, I have 2 decent accounts on Turkey and 1 really bad on EUNE :D I don't really have an NA account due to ping problems though it's gotten bearable after the server move :/

I like Dunkeys videos but his rant on Rito was just dumb... The ban was deserved and he has no right to cry... It's like the people spending a huge amount on money on video games expecting not to get banned no matter what they do, may it be cheating, botting or being toxic... It just has nothing to do with your behavior... There have been LCS players suspended from the game for that... He shouldn't complain... If he doesn't want to continue League videos, that is his choice... It's still ludicrous in my opinion...

I have no clue when they come out, but probably in about a week or two from now. Also, what's your timezone? Because chances are it could be 8:00 PM for me when you begin playing at 10:30.

Well, problem is, I have school to worry about so I have to sleep at 10. The only times I'll be on to play with you would be over the weekends where I stay up til 1 AM.

League players are a few cortices short of a functioning brain, they've literally been given the most basic and simple tool to use against toxicity and they don't even touch it half the time. The deal with toxicity is, whether or not you view it as the same thing as bm and sass, they're both the same shit at the core, empty words from a stranger behind a screen. If you don't like what you read, you can use the mute button or acknowledge that this is some random angry stranger and look down on him with some degree of pity. League players don't do this, league players are easily-offended drama seekers. What a league player will do is, they'll totally ignore the mute option in favor of being a dick back. Truthfully, I think

Extra Credits did an episode on harassment a while back, though it mainly deals with hate speech I think there are a lot of things Riot could learn from this. Interestingly enough, outright banning or suspending disrespectful players isn't mentioned here at all.
