I've recorded two covers of my two favorite songs and would love some critique from you guys since you've been really helpful in the past!

Well, only listened to Smile Smile Smile because that's all I have the brain capacity to do before I pass out...and make this post of course. Going off of the bad mic quality...I think you're good with the Ukulele, have a good voice, and have a nice style. Quiet the Ukulele a bit though, and we can hear that nice voice a bit better. Keep up what you're doing. :3

Aww thank you very much! I was initally going to record the voice and the ukulele seperately but I get really self-concious when I hear myself sing acapella. I'm going to be purchasing a new mic soon (I have a samson go-mic, do not buy one) so I'll re-record it.

Even the people best at their talents could always improve. Don't look upon your faults, just aim higher, and push to do better. If you're self-conscious about it, it's good to think this way: Everyone starts near the bottom.

I'm going to re-record today. Hopefully I won't sound as nasally as I did on yesterdays versions (the joys of hayfever) and I'll record both parts separately. I might add a bit of tab as well!

Its pretty well done, your pretty great on Ukulele, your singing voice is pretty good to.

 

Its pretty good overall, its a little different to what I'm use to. Personally I think the style you do with the song works better with Smile Smile Smile, then with Discord. Its not bad on Discord, but its just kinda odd at parts. Atleast to me. Maybe i'm comparing it to the original to much though.

 

Overall you did a good job, better then I can do . I still need alot of work on my singing, and well I don't play guitar or ukulele anyways .

 

Just keep working, theres always room for improvement i'm sure .

First off: Dat Ukulele.

Second: As good as it was, it's worth mentioning...you're a tad bit monotone. BUT, you still have a great voice, and you put necessary emotion into your song. Good work.

I don't know how I'd fix the monotone issue but I definitely notice it now you've pointed it out. I might try and get vocal lessons. I used to have them when I was like 8 but I all I remember from them is how to breathe correctly. Thanks for the compliments though! I can't wait to try Smile, Smile, Smile again. I'm trying to work out some better chords than the ones I used for the first cover but I find it really without a capo. #PianistProblems

 

Hope I did this Ellie Goulding justice, I absolutely love her. I try to model my own vocal style after hers but it never ends up sounding like her in any way xD

This is the first Ukulele cover of Discord I've listened to and honestly it's pretty awesome.  Sometimes the vocals are little quiet, but overall it's good.

i love the way you covered discord! i liked that song before, but your cover seems to have a really nice touch to it. also really like the ukulele. never really heared that instrument before, eventough it seems to be pretty popular.

i would really like it if you do these again with your new mic. i could listen to this all day :3

Wow, thank you so much! I'm definitely going to be doing these later on today (It's 3:00AM currently) and I'll try to cut down on the vibrato but take critique from my other thread and add reverb to the vocals!
