gaming Should I get Minecraft?

Scootadress

Recommended Posts

I wanted to ask about Minecraft for a while now, and I see many of you like it. At most, the only version of Minecraft I ever played was a demo of the pocket edition and the demo of the pc. Its fun, gut is it worth spending so much of the game? (I would love to get a premium but I'm not sure how long THAT would last. Plus, I'm not sure its worth it.)

Pocket edition, 360 or PC version?

If anything, go for the PC version.

I had a good bit of fun with Minecraft, but I was more of a Terraria guy. I had a lot more fun in that game. I hardly touch Minecraft anymore.

I'd say it's worth it for the PC version. Of course, it's a lot better if you can play on servers, or even on your own server. Doing stuff in a singleplayer world is cool, but it's alot more interesting to go on adventures with other people and see what they build.

Another thing you should do before buying is watch some let's plays of it. It doesn't really have a tutorial (unless you get the 360 version), and watching someone else play can really teach you some really helpful things.

I've had it for a couple years now. A few months ago, I sorta gave up on it. The only times I played were when the updates were released and I would go check out what was new. It just sorta lost the appeal. But then I started watching some more let's plays (Etho Plays Minecraft is a great one) and the awesome things people were building inspired me to go try to build or do something cool myself.

So, yeah. :P

Pc all the way. I understand you must be a builder if you enjoy this, there are better, and most likely (I don't know you personally) you will get bored in a few weeks. I would suggest that if you have a friend with it you ask for their information and use that profile. Much cheaper and most people don't mind sharing.

Pocket? No.

360? Meh.

PC?!

Tennant_yes.gif

PC lets you have texture packs which makes the game look gooood.

And PC version has MODS.

Pokemon Mods.

Pony Mods.

Gun Mods.

Nuke Mods.

They expand the game so much you don't even know. The game that lets you do anything, lets you do even more with mods.

How much for a premium? I wanted to get one for the longest time but the amount might put me off. I seen so many things on Minecraft, it just seems amazing. Then again, I rage over creepers..

Premium? ._.

Wuts that...I'm guessing you mean a full account...

Just buy the game for like 20 bucks on their website. No subscription or anything like that...

I have minecraft and it was really fun for about a year or maybe a little less then I just got bored of it. It seems like there's unlimited possibilities, which for the most part there is, but even unlimited possibilities gets boring. Personally I would buy it but don't overplay it. You'll think that it's really fun for a long time then you won't even realize the point of it. Just pace yourself.

It is a game that will get boring very quickly if you do not have some kind of goal. Whether that be in Creative or Survival mode. I play survival mode most of course and I have been trying to get back into it, though I have the 360 edition. If anything go for PC. As mentioned above, you can use custom textures and whatnot and it just has more content, plus the world is not limited. The only major advantage about the 360 addition is the extreme ease of the multiplayer, and splitscreen, that's about it. Though the split screen requires an HD set up.

Oh geez...I probably shouldn't even respond to this because of my bias against Minecraft (after all, the reason I got into MLP was to fight the depression cause by my Minecraft addiction).

Still, I was into it for quite a while, and I had a lot of fun while it lasted. The demo was what got me hooked, until I paid a friend to gift me the full version (since I don't think my parents would have bought it for me).

The pocket edition is absolutely great but I hate the PC version with every bone in my body. It's stuttery, slow and even on my high end PC, it runs like shite. It's a great mobile game but until they properly optimise it for PC, it's just a poorly made java game.

Also, the pocket version does support texture packs and mods but the mods are pretty basic from what I recall. It will support any texture pack though.

Well wouldn't get the pocket one. I would say pc or 360 depending on if your other friends play and on what system that is. If they don't however I would get pc all the way. I say friends because it is more fun playing with them, and if you don't have any goal on minecraft it really is a boring game so friends would be the only reason to keep you playing. However if you do it is a blast to play with or without friends :).

when- minecraft was 1.4.2 and can play online/ it was basic and interactive. But~ the 1.6.2 has way too... Many addons & the download offline doesn't fully let a user to mods {after you buy the full game}

Just in case there's still any confusion, buying a premium account lasts forever.

I just went to the site, and my has it changed since I bought the game two and a half years ago! But yes, to confirm, $20 for the game, and you get it permanently with free updates whenever they come out.

I feel that I have entered this somewhat late, however I still would like to express my thoughts on this subject.

In my opinion, if you are to buy any form of Minecraft, buy the PC Version.

I own all three and this is how I view them.

1. Minecraft PC.

2. Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition.

3. Minecraft Pocket Edition.

Now, as to why I find the PC version to be the best, is for the following reasons.

The PC version, and this may sound very douchebaggish, is the most highly updated. Thus, it contains more in-game features. Also, the PC version allows the usage of third-party modifications and texture packages. The mods can range from lighting mods, to flying and shapeshifting mods. Bloody hell they even have a creepypasta mod, which enables some infamous creepypasta characters as mobs. The texture packs are very unique, and fun to alternate through, as they can be extremely simple, or extremely detailed.

The reason why I find the Xbox 360 version is better than the Pocket Edition, is mainly because, again, the Xbox 360 version is updated to a higher level than the Pocket Edition, and also the Pocket Edition, is simply bloody rubbish.

So, I recommend you getting the PC version, it only costs around 36 euros I believe, and the Premium Memberships, which are permanent, cost around 17 US dollars, to my knowledge.

I hope this helped. If you need anymore information, feel free to contact me.

Well it depends. If some of your friends play it I would defiantly buy it because it is really fun playing with friends. But if none of your friends have it you will either have to play with random people or by yourself which isn't as fun. Oh and defiantly buy PC version.

I don't play Minecraft much anymore.

I'm skilled or creative enough to build anything, and I don't have friends to play with. I don't usually like randomly making friends in a random community I find on a random server. I'd only ever play with real life friends or people on forums (like this) I know.

I don't like playing it alone.

Honestly, I wouldn't get minecraft unless you have friends to play with and/or you are creative or skilled with building things.

I personally wouldn't buy it "just to have it".

I'd only get it on the PC. Pocket edition is terrible. Xbox is limited.

PC version is the best. Xbox and Pocket Edition are both limited, and on the PC you can get texture resource packs along with mods, and you can play on multiplayer. Joining servers is fun, and making friends is great. Me and my friends sometimes go on servers together.

It's highly addictive and I've had it for about 2 years, still loving it :)

I've got the Xbox Edition, and I really like it. I have different worlds for different things. Worlds are of a manageable size.

Though the only thing I don't like,is that you'll have to create a new world when the next TU update comes out. Which I"m still waiting on, for Xbox...which is why I haven't been playing it. And like the PC version you get free updates. Xbox version is great if you've got a few frineds on Xbox who also play it and you don't have the PC to enjoy it on PC.  TU update 11 is coming out anytime for the  Xbox Edition. Which will include Desert, Jungle Biomes Ocelots and a bunch of other cool stuff as well as some new block types.

I know a lot of people on PC though too. Which I"m tempted to get. just because PC version has servers.(I heard  talk of Xbox getting servers and bigger worlds as well soon)

PC version with the Tekkit mod. It really adds so much more to the game and there are some fun servers to play with as well. I hoisted my own for a bit before joining a 100 man server (mostly 15 people at a time XD). It's a lot of fun. I personally suggest both MC and Terreria as Terraria is the same game but 2D and a lot more customiszation in terms of house items and it has bosses :D

I wanted to play minecraft to, my friend had it so he let me try it out on his pc... I loved the art and scenery, but the gameplay wasn't what I expected. He said it's more easier if you play this game with an xbox controller. So I'd say get the pc one, but play it with a controller.

Really? My laptop is hardly high end and it runs fine on high settings.

But I do recommend the games, but give a warning: you may be lost for hours in it.

I keep reading that Minecraft actually performs better on Intergrated Graphics like Intel HD 3000/4000 which really annoys me cause I spent about 300 pounds on my graphics card and am purchasing an upgraded card this year that is about 580 pounds. I used to love Minecraft back when I owned an Alienware M11x R3 but ever since switching to a full tower, it just runs awful, even with optifine D:
