The first time I ever heard about them was on some internet forum, which I have forgotten the name of, where someone's signature had some pony-related thing in it. (Or did they create an MLP roleplay thread? I don't recall.)

Another forum member commented on it. I vaguely remember the post mentioning that MLP was something taken up by teenage girls because of their insecurities.

Needless to say, I didn't have a high opinion of the show after that point.

....And look at me now, posting in a forum made specially for MLP fans... What gives?

Surfing the sources of videos and news of the FGC I stumble across the Fighting Is Magic project, as many of the subjects in the community my first reaction was WTF WHY YOU PASTEL TALKING SMALL HORSES IN MY GAMES?!!!! you know the stuff but I like to be critic and objective so I gave set some serious eyes on the project. To my surprise the game looked very good, the characters had unique set of moves, the mechanics of the game were very well applied and the character looked charming. I was like “woa woa woa who the hell is doing this and why” the answer was found soon after “Fans” people who liked this cartoon show for little girls was making this... no profit intended... just passion??? Too good to be true right... well it turned out TOO GOOD TOO BE TRUE!

I saw a lot of pony avatars on forums and I think I even saw some pony parodies on YouTube.  I also learned that the people doing this were called Bronies.  Now I've learned form experience that when huge sections of the internet get into something it usually is good or at least worth checking into. I've also never really cared if a show was "for girls" before, so I gave the show a watch to see what the fuss was about.  It took like five episodes for me to truly get into it but since then I've been hooked.

Youtube has a great way of having random recommendations. I looked at the first episode and I loved it. That and CREEPYPASTAS are amazing.....

I got converted back on the Jurassic Park Legacy forums (where I now admin) back around Halloween of 2011. It all started from my natural curiosity about what about this show could possibly be so interesting that people had pony avatar on a Jurassic Park forum. And, of course, I had my reservations considering I was an 18yo dude. One day I ran across a vid titled "Rainbow Dash - You're Gonna Go Far Kid", and I was immediately intrigued by this colorful pony speeding around like she was an F-18. I HAD to watch another pony clip! Then another! And another! And soon I realized I had spent an entire Saturday viewing pony clips!

Sort of through the grapevine, I guess. One of the other forums I frequent had a massive argument about ponies between bronies and neighsayers right about the time that I was becoming a brony, which I largely stayed out of (the bronies "won" that one). That probably spurred a lot of my interest in the show at that time, which then mutated into liking the show and being interested in it for its own sake.

My origin story is pretty boring too; Ck so it all started when they were advertising mlp coming to the Hub in 2011 I just kind of rolled my eyes and was like "they'er redoing the My Little Pony show again!? Didn't it end in like the 80's or 90's? Whatever.".  So months went buy and I didn't think much of it and briefly if ever watched a few episodes out of boredom without care or interest until the middle/end of March 2012 I was playing on the site Whirled and I saw someone had created something called 'Derpy Cat' which was an oddly drawn gray cartoon cat with little white eyes. After a while I decided to look it up to see if they had drawn it anywhere else, as I was typing into Google I brought up Derpy Hooves as a suggested search so I got curious and clicked on the Know Your Meme link, read the article, fell in love, and decided to try to watch the show. I pulled up the first episode on YouTube and decided to watch and was surprised that it wasn't as lame, childish, or girly as the previous mlp revisions were or as I though it would be  and it all went form there.

I first heard about ponies on an old forum I used to go on. I was starting to see a few notable posters change their avatars to ponies, and I was kinda curious to see what was going on. I bumped into an MLP topic on that forum and had a look around; everyone was spamming pony pics xD

But I decided to ask what all the fuss was about, and the other members said that MLP was a good show. They recommended that I watch it (I did) and I became a Brony about two days later :)

I was administrating my friend's server on Garry's Mod.

This brony was spamming the chat, and overall trolling, so I banned him. What he was spamming though, was "PONIES FTW", curiosity got the best of me, and I searched up what he was talking about, watched an episode, and bam.

Well, A while ago, a liked Edgar Wright's facebook page. Y'know, director of Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim, and the upcoming The World's End, just to name a few.

So, one day, I was scrolling through Facebook when Edgar Wright had posted a trailer mash-up between Scott Pilgrim and MLP. Curiosity got the better of me and I decided to give it a watch. Now, I had no idea whatsoever that this show existed or that the franchise was still even going on. After I watched the video, I had decided to look up just what the show was.

...and then my life spiraled downward into ponydom, never to recover.

The first time I ever heard about it was from when I was looking at some art on an artist's user page and one of their arts featured their pony OC that they created. In their comments they raved about the new show and despite my contempt over the show's previous generations, I decided to give Friendship is Magic a chance. That was a couple of years ago near the end of season one, and I have loved the show and everything about it ever since.

Honestly the first time I saw ponies was on 4chan my senior year of high school. It was when season 1 was in full spring. I hated it. I don't know why, maybe it was cause I had friends who revolted it, or because I had forgotten that I used to watch girls shows with my sister and I liked those as well. I don't know why I just rejected ponies. They seemed immature. But after being in the middle of nowhere for awhile I was desperate for a new show to watch so I decided what the fuss was all about.

Almost two years later here I am, posting in an MLPforum

How I discovered MLP and became a brony.....

One day I was walking home from school... I went past some abandoned shops, this part of town was deserted 40 years ago because of some infectious disease, I thought this was just a urban myth, until that fateful day... I walked through the abandoned shops and something jumped out of the alleyway and bit me...  the thing that bit me looked like a human wearing a light blue hoodie with rainbow fluff on the hood.... it wore jeans with a picture of Rainbowdash's cutiemark on the rear pocket.

The thing bit me and disappeared as quickly as it appeared, I didn't think much of the bite, I just wanted to run and get home as quick as possible... when I got home I felt dizzy and passed out... then I woke up with a strange interest in this show called : My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic...

The epidemic has begun.....

I first heard and saw ponies on deviantArt. I saw some pics and here and there. Pretty nice drawings I thought. I then saw ponies on Youtube. Videos about ponies, profile pics are ponies, and people mentioning ponies in the comments section of some vids. On other websites I frequented, I noticed ponies popping up there as well. I didn't really feel disgusted by it or judged anyone. I was more curious about it than anything else. So, I made a note to check out the show. Needless to say I did and was hooked.

I was on this game-developer website Yoyogames, And this flame war just ended, and the flame war criminals were about to get banned, and pretty much the greatest antagonist of the flame war for some reason did not get banned, that's how I met that guy. Then I saw him with a Fluttershy avatar, I asked him "Man, what the fuck?" And he sent me the link so I watched it open minded.

That was 2011.

I just kept seeing people with pony avatars on different sites, so I was perplexed on what to make of it.  Eventually I discovered (Late 2011) that there's these people who the internet refers to as "bronies" who are male fans of the show MLP FIM.  Interesting fact:  Orriginally, I thought the term "bronies" was supposed to be pronounced "(Bra-nees)" instead of "(Bro-nees)" due to the fact that my mind saw the way "bronies" was spelled and immediately made the connection that a "bronco" is a male horse.

I was interested on what kept these people so interested in the show, so I decided to look up the first episode.  I'll admit, It wasn't horrible, but I didn't think it was anything to rave about so I stopped halfway through the second episode saying "meh.  Not impressed."  Sure, the animation looked great for flash and the characters seemed fun, its just that I saw it as childish and predictable.  So I stopped watching the show for what I thought at the time would be forever.  I thought to myself "these people must just be trolls who pretend to like the show to basque in the pseudo-irony that they are men watching a show intended for girls."

Then one night in December 2011 I was browsing YouTube, and just by my ultimate luck I happened to come across an episode.  It was season 2 episode 13 (Hearth's Warming Eve), the one where they put on a play and reenact the founding of Equestria.  I watched the episode and thought it was genuinely good.  It really amplified the personalities of all of the main characters which is something children's shows usually don't do too often.  What further intrigued me was that someone in the comments section pointed out that "Derpy" was in the episode coming out of the curtain at a particular point.  I didn't know what "Derpy" was until I re-watched the episode and saw for myself.  This was around the time when the "derp" meme was at its peak in popularity, so I was really surprised to know that the creators of the show were sort of up to date with modern humor and internet trends.  I think at this point that I skipped around and watched two or three more season two episodes before deciding to watch the show again from the start.

I was hooked and finally had understood why people loved the show so much.  The show takes my mind off of the horrible things going on in the world and puts me in a better mindset.

So now I'm here after years of watching the show in secrecy.  I never told anybody that I thought the show was good, so I live out my life normally, trying my best to ignore the topic of "bronies" around my college friends and family.  I had almost left the fan-group when I figured out about EG and that "Fighting is Magic" was taken down.  I guess I remain loyal to the show because

1.) It has built such an interesting community and fan-made capital.

2.) I'm like the only person that thinks that season 3 (until the last episode) was pretty good.

Otherwise:  Hasbro disappointing me greatly.  EG?  Twilicorn?  This isn't what I started watching the show for.  So many weak people will just submit to their bullshit but I won't.
