movies/tv Saddest death in anime...

Out of the characters listed in the poll above, which one had the saddest anime death?

One Piece:

For me, the answer would be Portgas D. Ace from one piece, it is the only anime death I've ever cried from...

While spoilers in a topic titled "Saddest death in anime..." are a given, don't forget that not everyone has seen every anime, and that simply attempting to scroll past the spoilers may not be enough.

Label and hide your spoilers (with the

Wolf's Rain. Need I say more?

That ending had me bawling throughout the entire last episode.

I've never run across an anime that made me that emotional before no matter how much I enjoyed it.

Talk about a spoiler thread, but here we go...

I need to continue watching more animes, but this is my choice so far:

Clannad

That's my choice, I suppose, at least until I check out more animes.

I actually don't watch as much anime as I used to, if much at all so I guess I wouldn't know a lot of scenes and such but I'm pretty difficult to make cry, or even tear but there's one anime that's done just that.  It was an anime called, I believe, "Chrono Crusade"? That ending was just really sad to me for some reason.  It wasn't overdone or highly dramatic, just... really sad but powerful somehow.

Yep.  I suppose that I would go with that!

I never saw the anime but I read the entire manga. I barely remember it but I enjoyed every second of it. The way it ended was pretty powerful and I hear the anime had a bit of a different ending but ultimately ended the same.

Yes, I would implore anyone to post in spoiler tags if they are going to go into details about the deaths. We don't wanna spoil anything for anyone.

Clannad: After Story, Fullmetal Alchemist:

Nagisa Furukawa - Clannad: After Story or Maes Hughes - Fullmetal Alchemist, because shut up is the reason for both of those answers

I reject your options and substitute my own! Slightly subverting the topic here, but pretty much anytime Vash is forced to kill someone in Trigun it is an emotion experience. It was kind of awesome seeing someone in an anime act like an actual human after killing someone. And then it gets tragic when you see all the crap he goes through to avoid it.

I'm gonna warn you. This spoiler hides actual spoilers. In Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai:

One of the last arcs ends with all of the protagonists dying brutally in terrible dramatic sacrifices. It's awful.

Fullmetal Alchemist, Digimon, One Piece:

Great, now I feel like a dick for not mentioning hughes or wizardmons deaths! Sorry, but as sad as both of those deaths are, I still think Ace's death was the saddest, he died in his brothers arms and right infront of his foster father no less! If that's not sad, then I don't know what is!!

Digimon Tamers:

Another death that made me sniffle a bit was Leomon from Digimon Tamers. I do remember being a little shaken up when Wizardmon died, but Leomon stuck in my head much more prominently.

Sorry, can't answer this topic.

Most "deaths" that made me really sad, or maybe almost cry, were usually temporary.

Ash In the Pokemon Movie and Kuroyukihime's car accident in Accel World. That amount of blood from the car accident made me think she was done for good.

Others weren't effective enough to make me all depressed. They were just... there.

Mami from Madoka Magicka, and Nagisa and Ushio form Clannad. Sorry. Just didn't feel it. Ushio would be the closest to most emotional and saddening of the three, though.

Most anime I watch don't involve death of much death. Usually temporary deaths.

Hmmm...good point, but I'm sorry, I don't count death unless its permanant, so ash, goku, yoh and kakashi are all out, sorry...but voting for people who aren't dead would be pointless...

Dragon Ball Z:

I don't see why it would be pointless, they'll still be sad even if they're brought back to life later on. I mean, sure Goku coming back to life in the Buu saga ruins the impact of his death in the Cell games, but I still get sad everytime I watch his death anyway

This. Usually at the time of death we don't know he's coming back so that feeling of sorrow is still there no matter whether it was circumvented later.

Also, Godot, I totally agree with your first choice. I had forgotten about him even though I just watched that anime a couple months ago.

Goku's death in the Cell games, even though he comes back to life in the Buu saga. But, the most saddest death to me was Majin Vegeta sacrificing himself to try to kill Majin Buu. It made me cry so many tears.
