I don't think its fair to make Spike a dog he's not really a pet he's more of a helper so making him a dog is kind of degrading which isn't fair to him I think he could have been a small high school kid or something maybe twilights campaign manager or something like that

My first instinct was to say "Why isnt he just a child or young kid?"

 

Then I sat back and thought about it. Spikes character isnt one of novice to Twilights Mastery, nor is he her student. If anything he is what she calls him, her assistant and loyal friend.

 

That being said, I applaud the writers, because nothing is more a loyal friend then your Dog. If they made him a young boy then it would foul up alot of the established relationship and force a brother/sister or mother/son relationship.

 

 

Also, you cant fit a childed spike into a backpack...just saying.
